fernando is not one to be denied. he refuses to take no for an answer. today will be no different.

the events of slateport have taught him an invaluable lesson: validation. the preparations he's sought are not wasted. his army is mighty and they serve their purpose. as a unit, they function as a cohesive unit that not only purges anyone in his way but provide a secure caravan for those who need to evacuate the city. it comes as no surprise that silph's route is the safest. his pokemon outnumber the average trainer five to one. and here, he's looking for another.

something lurks in the water. fernando doesn't get close. he can spy the magenta from afar. native to kanto, fernando's no stranger to the menace of the sea. each of tentacruel's tentacles can prove a lethal weapon. any prey stuck within it's grasp is as sure as dead. the only problem is that its dominance is only in the sea. something that limited has no purpose on fernando's team. not now, not when battles are still dictated by ground troops. until they get driven out to lilycove and mosdeep, fernando will focus his attention on something more mobile.

he ventures deeper into the caverns.

today, the water holds many. tentacruel is not alone. from its depths comes something that can maneuver on both water and land. carracosta is a relic of the falls. just one snap of its mighty jaw is enough to turn the jellyfish into jam. fernando doesn't dare approach the pokemon. there's no use it can serve him, not when it has to come up close. what he needs is something that doesn't rely on one method of attack. escape the beast's bite range and it's useless.

he continues on until he can go no further.

there's no dragons today. instead, fernando is faced with a type he's more familiar with: psychic. they make up the capital and most iconic type in saffron. the gym leader even bears their power, an absolute aberrance to the niche caste that claims to be mediums. how many of them are just selling snake oil? not saffron's ex-leader. she's the real deal. it's a damn shame that she's gone, another victim of war.

psychics are powerful but not unbeatable. fernando knows this well even though he adds another to his roster. something's different about this one. perhaps its the intelligence or perhaps the kadabra's innate ability to immobile opponents with TELEKINESIS. either way, the kadabra cannot handle fernando's entire roster. it's a scene that the caves know well. he is brutality incarnate.
