Bailey Cooper loved this place–the sounds, the colors, the smells were all etched into her mind. It brought back memories. Good memories. The moment the young woman stepped into the tunnel that curved through Mt. Chimney, she knew she was almost home.[break][break]

The air was warm when it met her skin. The volcanic activity heated the rocks. This place was like an oven; the warm air attracted pokemon that wanted to escape from the chill as Hoenn shifted through the seasons. While the rest of the region was mild throughout the year, Mt. Chimney and its elevation brought weather that made it distinct from the rest of the landscape.[break][break]

The cadet yawned, stretching her arms high above her head to flex her tired muscles. In Lavaridge, she could take a break. The hot springs sounded too good to refuse. It made her pick up the pace as she strode through the warm, rocky passage.

“Hey, cutie.” Bailey Cooper greeted the newcomer. She crouched down, her knees bent, as she inspected the joyful Darumaka as he jiggled his way toward her. His curiosity was strong. He showed no fear as he came to sniff the cadet's outstretched hand. A wild pokemon that was friendly? That was not common.[break][break]

She plopped her hand atop the fire-type's head, wondering if the social-able personality was a ruse; it was not. He happily waved his arms up at her. The tiny red bean was so gosh-darn happy, it made her giggle. “What's got you so happy, huh? Win a fight or somethi–huh?”[break][break]

There was a fragment of something stuck to his head. She peeled it away, feeling the brittle shell of an egg. “....” She glanced at the fire-type and then behind him, spying a broken egg. “Oh. Oh, fuck.” [break][break]

The Darumaka had just hatched. These were his first moments in a whole new world... and he had imprinted on her of all people. “Ohhh no. I know how this goes. Nuh uh. I'm not your mom--” but the Darumaka was already latched to her leg.[break][break]

Glancing in both directions to make sure no one was watching, Bailey bent down and scooped the fire-type into her arms and booked it. Was this kidnapping? Nah. Probably not. The egg had been unattended.
