Growing up surrounded by Pokemon given her parents backgrounds, Shiori never questioned her relationship with them. Some view them as pets, some view them as servants, but Shiori always found them to be partners in crime. Proverbially speaking, of course. She might be a prankster, but she's got too much pride to buy into a life of crime (and perhaps too much pride for her own good.) [break][break]
The girl left home at the tender age of eleven with more than her fair share of family drama under her belt to seek her own fortunes in the world, forgoing finishing her education in a traditional school for the thrill of being a trainer. It would've been easy to stick to Hoenn, her home region, but Shiori wanted a break from the familiar. So she did what any sensible eleven year old with only a small sum of cash would do: she bought a boat ticket out of Slateport, left her parents a note, and high-tailed it away. Running away without clearing it earned her more than a few shares of phone calls from her parents and brother, but the girl refused to turn back. Fortunately, she managed to get their blessing after detailing her plan. [break][break]
The first region she visited in her burgeoning career as a trainer was Alola, the tropical island paradise. It didn't have a league proper for her to participate in, which reddened the girls cheeks considerably when she visited a Professor and found that tidbit out, but she managed to undertake an island challenge or two and even build a small team before heading to Kalos after a year. She placed relatively well within the Kalosian League, even staying on to work as a Gym Trainer for an additional year and study under a master trainer of the type she'd specialized in, the elusive Fairies of the world. After building up her experience there, she detoured a trip to Unova before flying home to Hoenn; if she was going to become a league champ, Shiori figured she might as well do it in her homeland. She'd also grown homesick for the first time in years, a pang she felt when her Dad informed her both her mother and her brother had left home to travel the region and compete in the League again, each going solo unlike the first time her big brother had been hand held through the region. Shiori had grown up in the four years since leaving, but she still couldn't suppress a smile at the thought of playing a trick or two on her brother for old time's sake.
