power is taken, never given.

fernando is not one to be denied. he refuses to take no for an answer. today is no different than the rest.

his travel brings him to pacifidlog. the barely functional city rests afloat on decayed logs, long past their peak. why they stay in such an uncivilized setting remains a mystery but he can already hear riddle on. it's culture, she says, scolding his lack of appreciation for hoenn's history.

it's out dated, he'll retaliate mentally but never voice.

the sound of his vehicle shredding through the water becomes a vicious asmr. his thoughts are lost in themselves until some of the stray splash back splatters on his face. he's been doing a lot of that lately, letting his mind wander. the compact nature of his new schedule is to blame but he'll never admit it. living on only hours of sleep is a skill he takes pride in. saffronians don't sleep - and there is none more proud of his heritage then fernando himself. it's the last real trace he has to kanto, even if it fell by his own unbloodied hands.

the ocean is endless. there's nothing but water for as far as the eye can see. the horizon is bleak, a cascade of blue from the horizontal line that extends from the very helm of the boat. the various water pokemon that call the sea their home are nothing more then mere items in the background. fernando pays them no mind and they do the same.

pacifism is a collaborative effort which means only one thing; it's not meant to last.

the moment he finds something of interest, he'll do what he always does: pilfer it for his own needs. the world is his oyster and there's few who have the mettle to stand up against his grubby hands.

a mantine breaches the water's surface. the way it BOUNCES from the ocean is majestic but largely ignored. the way it ascends for a good three hundred feet is something to be admired by surfers and swimmers. fernando is neither and keeps his eyes on the path ahead. the hum of the engine outpaces the pokemon and it becomes a distant memory.

the lack of a monument out in the ocean is fitting but he feels like something should be out here. an outcropping, some semblance of land? he's not sure but the lack of anything in the horizon keeps his expectations low.

nothing.

fernando finds nothing noteworthy. nothing worth his time. the boat eventually gives in and the fuel gauge warns him that it's time to dock. naturally, he doesn't push it. his destination is pointed at pacific log and the rest of the trip seems uneventful.

at least until his boat hits something and catches several seconds of hang time. it's nothing to throw him off but it does catch him off guard. the shake and rumbling causes him to bring the boat to a stop. what the fuck did he hit?

he turns back and sees what could have been in his way. it's a slowbro, one with a large exaggerated bump on its head. the pokemon seems unaffected, looking back at him and staring at him with a blank, dumb expression. then, suddenly, the impact of the collision hits all at once and it faints in the middle of the water.

with no one in sight and no one to hold him accountable, fernando tosses a spare pokeball at what would otherwise be roadkill.
