As the Pokeball wiggled back and fourth, the Blissey from before would come up to them, hands extended for a Heal Pulse. This time, the Vikavolt was in no position to reject the offer, gladly accepting the healing energy from the Blissey, restoring his body. Meanwhile, Colt, who wasn't hit during the battle, would give the Blissey a strange look, before shrugging. Thomas smiled at the Blissey, offering to give her an affectionate ruffle on the top of her head. "Thank you for that.", Thomas told the healer.

Moments later, a Clefairy would peer out from the trees. The pink creature seemed to be lost and looked to be running rather ragged. Though she was clearly nervous around the humans, especially the one in the suit, given the way he was fighting, the fact that he fed the Liepard earlier made her realize that he had food, and a gentle side to him. But before she could've approached the group, the Greninja attacked them.

With the battle over, and her stomach rumbling, the Clefairy waddled over to the group, crying out for food. Though she froze up when the Vikavolt and Clawitzer turned to her, Thomas slowly approached the creature as the two backed off. "You don't look so good...", Thomas told her, as he pulled out another packet of food from his bag, offering one of the treats to the Clefairy. Without further hesitation, the pink Fairy would eat the cube, taking it in quickly. Thomas would offer her another, which she cheerfully took.

"If you want, I could take you in. I've got plenty to eat at home, and my girlfriend could help mend any injuries you have.", Thomas told the Clefairy, holding out a vacant Pokeball as an offer to her.

returns to her side, there's a huge grin plastered on her face. rhian giggles at the sight. she is glad that her blissey had finally gotten what she so desperately wanted, despite it all, and that her bliss is so great she is able to demonstrate it this way.

she's not paying too much attention to the clefairy waddling over in search for food, or to the nidorina hidden behind some bushes, also hungry but evidently not as hungry as the clefairy.

rhian stands on tiptoes, scanning the path ahead. the berry couple's house is still far from where they stand. she can barely see its colorful roof in the distance. a quick look at her pokénav reveals that it's almost the time she'd initially planned for her arrival, and she frowns.

being behind schedule on a leisure visit isn't too bad. however, it's sure to worry her boyfriend if she doesn't notify him. after making certain that her walking companion is still busy with the clefairy, she makes a quick call to let him know she'd be maybe half an hour late.

rhian waits for the man to catch up with a smile. "made a couple friends today, hm? must be a good day," she muses. rhian may not have caught any new pokémon herself, but the thought doesn't bother her. her reason to be here is another altogether, and besides, she's content with her few but close team members.

The Clefairy would study the Pokeball for a moment. When she heard the familiar cry approaching her, she would quickly tap the button to the Pokeball, letting herself get sucked into the contraption. Thomas, noticing how scared she looked as this happened, looked over to see a Koffing floating into view. The floating ball of smog looked around for his prey, the Clefairy who had just gotten into the Pokeball seconds earlier.

Thomas would quickly send out his Alakazam, Freke, to deal with the threat. The Koffing would immediately roll out a thick Smokescreen over the field, before lobbing a Sludge Bomb at the Alakazam. Seeing this at the last moment, the Alakazam quickly teleported out of the way of the attack, causing the sludge to land on the ground where the Psychic-type once stood. Freke would reemerge behind the Koffing, using Telekinesis to lift it up above the smog. The Koffing would cry out in shock as he felt himself being lifted further into the air, with the Alakazam staring at him from the ground. Before he could retaliate, the Alakazam launched him with a Psychic blast, sending him off into the distance.

"Good work.", he'd tell Freke, before recalling all three of his companions, and running up to catch up with Rhian. As she remarked on his captures, Thomas couldn't help but smile a little. "I suppose so.", Thomas would tell her. "Tell me, is there any Pokemon in particular you're searching for?", the Kalosian would inquire.

there it is

. the smile is fleeting, but definitely there. bright, warm. it's the smile of a man who really cares for his pokémon. rhian can't help smiling back. "that fits you."

at the man's new question, rhian tilts her head. "hm? not really." she stops to ponder for a minute, realizing such an answer may not be the most satisfying. "i'm not much of a trainer, to be honest. cher and i are just on our way to visit the couple i mentioned earlier."

from this point, she lets her mind wander. hands crossed behind her back, she tells him of her last capture. "the last time i caught a pokémon was, i think, in a lake near fortree. a swarm of milotic gave the crowd of trainers there such a beautiful performance that night!"

her eyes turn to his, searching for a hint that he may understand the feelings the view had brought. there were many people gathered there that night; perhaps he'd even been one of them.

a meowl demands her attention somewhere ahead. a big lavender-colored persian looks intently at them before running off into the tall grass.

"you must be a great trainer, though," she adds casually, gaze now fixed on the path ahead. "all your pokémon look so strong and brave. are you perhaps a competitive trainer?"

Thomas would listen to what she described, his interest piquing when she mentioned the Milotic Swarm. Indeed, he was one of the many hoping to capture one of the many beautiful sea serpents that surfaced that night, and one of the many to fail in the attempt at capturing them. At the very least, the Milotic put on a stunning show for those that came across it that night. "So you were one of the lucky few to capture one? Congratulations!", Thomas would remark to her.

Thomas would spot an avian flying in from the distance. Thomas had to wonder what the normally nocturnal Honchkrow was doing out during the daylight. But before he could even muse on what brought it out here at this hour, the Honchkrow began to dive down towards the trainer, her talons glowing with blackened energy as she attempted to carve him with a Night Slash. Freke immediately grabbed his trainer's arm, and Teleported out of the path of the Honchkrow, causing the Honchkrow to desperately attempt to recover, and not crash into the ground.

Voltanis, seeing another attempted attack on his master, reacted angrily, firing a Thunderbolt from its maw. The Honchkrow would squawk out in pain, before falling to the ground, her feather body smoking in the aftermath of the violent electrical attack. Thomas and Freke would reemerge a few feet away, just in time to see his Vikavolt take down their assailant. Thomas went to check on the creature, while his companions watched the wild Pokemon intently.

"Good, she's just unconscious...", Thomas muttered, with a sigh of relief.

Thomas would take out a Pokeball, and tap the unconscious creature with the mechanism, before turning back to Rhian. "Funny thing is, I'm just a cop. Never really had an interest in the competitive scene, just training my friends to be strong enough in order to handle themselves when trouble rears its head.", Thomas would tell her.

was it particularly hard to catch swarm pokémon? rhian isn't sure; she'd only been to the one. "oh. thank you," she says with a small smile. rhian had been pretty happy with herself back then, of course, given that the milotic was meant to be a gift for her boyfriend. until now, she didn't realize it may have meant something more.

"in that case, it's nice to know we've got dependable police like you guarding us." technically, rhian has the slightest suspicion she'd also qualify as a cop. she hadn't been given the rank of cadet for nothing when she joined the league, probably. maybe they just didn't have a more fitting rank for the science and research department yet.

she mulls over the man's next words for a while. there's truth in his philosophy. now more than ever. rhian was still resisting the conversion, having thankfully never gotten into real trouble until then; but the fact two of the people she most admired were insistent on her training did make her anxious sometimes.

the rest of their walk passes too quickly. at least it felt so much more quickly than the first half. they reach the old couple's house just in time for the woman to tend to their berry trees, and rhian hurries to help her after a "it was a pleasure to meet you. i hope we get to see each other again soon!"

she doesn't realize she forgot to introduce herself or even ask for the man's name until hours later, when it's time for her to return home.
