It'd be about fifteen minutes until the same gym trainer approached Bailey once more.

"Alison will see you now. If you will follow me."

She motioned for Bailey to follow her through the twisting corridors of the gym. A keen eye would note images of numerous legendary pokemon within the stonework. The most notable being latias and latios. At one point the pair would pass under gargoyles in the form of said legendaries.

"You must be Bailey!"

There was excitement in her voice as she laid eyes upon her first challenger. Alison stood at the opposite end of the room Bailey now found herself in. Between the two was an enormous pool. The light pouring in from the room's multitude of window's highlighted the submerged stalactites.

"You can go by the way Beatrice."

The gym trainer that lead Bailey left the room without a word.

"You didn't have any trouble finding your way, did you? Most trainers end up lost their first time here."

Alison wasn't sure if Beatrice had lead Bailey the whole way or helped her after she'd gotten lost.

"I'm so sorry to hear! Was that cait alfric 's gym? I never did like the idea of those challenges. Mazes too? Pah! They're hardly a good way to test someone."

Alison eyed the electric type by Bailey's side.

"Really? Way to make things boring Bailey. You and everybody else are bringing electric pokemon. Maybe I should ban them, what do you think?"

She threw the idea out into the air.

"After all, all it'd take is one spark if there was a gas leak in here for everything to go BOOM."

The woman waved her arms to add flair and laughed softly.

"But that won't happen, probably! Now, let's get started, shall we?"

Alison plucked a single pokeball off her belt and released its contents. An empoleon materialized in the air for a split moment, before hitting the water with a splash.

"Solomon, mist!" She commanded.

Tendrils of mist curl off the water and into the air, slowly obscuring the battlefield.

「Empoleon used mist!」

"You're not breaking anything, are you?"

Alison called out to Bailey upon hearing an odd sound from the mist. She didn't think her insurance would cover whatever Bailey was up to.

"Alright Solomon, you know what to do!"

The empoleon very much did not know what to do. It couldn't see shit, didn't know shit either. What was its trainer thinking making it use mist? She must've been drinking, despite the fact it wasn't even noon yet. God, who drinks before noon?

With no clear view of the enemy, the water type twisted the water around it. Slowly the once still pool became a giant whirlpool, with the emperor penguin at the center of it.

"C'mon Bailey, get your pokemon in the water. It's warm, I promise!"

The entire surface of the pool erupted with a crash. Water splashed across the room, coating the floor and walls. In rippling waves the water still leaves the pool.

As the mist begins to dissipate one of the waves pushes Empoleon's limp body to the edge of the pool. Its crown screeches as it scrapes against the tile work. "Yknow, this kind of went differently in my head." She said as water dripped off her soaked clothing.

The gym leader returned her fainted empoleon, replacing it with another pokemon Bailey could fry in seconds. Blastoise hit the water with a crash, sending waves and ripples through the water. "Round two, start!" On cue the shellfish pokemon's cannons adjust to Vikavolt's location, firing a hydro pump within seconds.

「Empoleon fainted!
Blastoise used hydro pump!」

"My bad?" She posed the question as if there was a chance that it wasn't her bad.

"We'll get it cleaned up, no worry."

As the Vikavolt hit the nearby ground Alice thought of a new rule for the gym. If you're knocked out of the pool area you're pokemon is disqualified. Instead of mentioning her dissatisfaction Alice simply furrowed her eye brow for a brief moment.

As vikavolt buzzed around the room both Alice and blastoise watched its movement intently. She tried to pin point a pattern to its flying, but failed. The bug was too sporadic in its movements. Which meant she had to take a shot in the dark.

"Hydro pump!"

「Blastoise used hydro pump!」

When the water subsided all that was left was the distinct smell of burnt flesh. Skin peeled off in the areas where the arcing strands of electricity hit Blastoise. Its body floated in the pool, unconscious from the devastating blow. In a flash of red light Alice returns the unconscious pokemon.

"That was really merciless Bailey. Is this the usual for our cops?"

Alice wrinkles her nose at the smell that clung to the air. The room was in dire need of an open window.

「Blastoise Fainted!」

Well, at least all of Hoenn's police force wasn't like Bailey.

"That's fine. Nothing wrong with using your head in these challenges. I just needed to have a little variety in my team, was all." A smile is plastered on the gym leader's face face.

"Oh for sure. For sure." Alice shook Bailey's outstretched hand. "Good luck with your future challenges, Bailey."

After Bailey left the room Alice took in all the damage to the room. The water pooling across the floor, fractured tiles, and even a hole in the ceiling.

"What did you do to my pool?" She groaned.

「End」
