Alexander Hathorne is your friendly neighborhood council member. The epitome of warmth, charm and outward affability, one shouldn’t be surprised if they find it easy to converse or befriend the man, or even if they find themselves skeptical of whether he cares about the titles he holds. He’s willing to engage or entertain just about anyone, and rarely holds the social capital that comes with being a doctor or council member over people’s heads, usually choosing to purposely neglect telling others about such facts unless they ask or already know. He is generous, both with his time and his words, often going out of his way to befriend, guide and compliment young league cadets, and coating his criticisms or lectures in gentle, yet straightforward honesty. There are even stories floating around of him giving genuine advice to his opponents in the middle of battles.

With everything said about how nice Alex can be, when it comes to battle, and even more specifically when it comes to genuine threats as large and looming as team rocket, the phrase “Kill them with kindness.” takes on a whole new meaning. To put it simply, he is quietly prideful. Of the league, and of the region. While he doesn’t feel the need to put on a performative show of strength or aggression the way some other trainers or council members might, he is competitive, and has no qualms about showing as little mercy as possible against his enemies. Those stories about Alex giving genuine advice to his opponents in battle? Some versions include a small, but sinister smirk that lays on his face while he does so, almost as if to mock his opponents, or at least subtly communicate an arrogant kind of assuredness of his own dominance and superiority.

In the face of outright animosity, Alex maintains that same arrogant smirk, but instead of operating with his usual genuine politeness, he’ll take on a more passive-aggressive and sarcastic tone, too good to respond with genuine hostility, but not too high-minded to take potshots.

When it comes to team rocket, his views are very simple: They need to be defeated by any means necessary, and as surprising as it might be for someone with such a benevolent reputation, he’s willing to get his hands as bloody dirty as they need to in order to achieve that goal.

Being as friendly as he is can sometimes result in more-than-friendly feelings. More-than-friendly feelings sometimes result in flings or relationships. Alex has had, and continues to have, his fair share of both. Courting him is as easy as expressing genuine interest, and should he pick up on it (and he will), you can expect to be having a candlelit dinner (or just skipping straight to knocking boots) by the end of the afternoon. Being a council member can be time-consuming, and as such, he has no interest in being tied down by marriage or children. He is, however, willing to divide his attention between multiple romantic partners, and primarily practices polyamory when it comes to dating. He’s not entirely opposed to a monogamous relationship, but it would take an exceptionally attractive woman to convince him of such an arrangement.
