people lived in the caves once, long ago. when she looks closely, when the sunlight falls just right, she can see the traces of it. the pock-marks in the stone, even the road leading south to rustboro was originally nothing more than a desire line. persephone knows her feeling of content is artificial. she surveys the lucario at her side through the corner of her eye. the usurping of her latent anxieties is an intrusion, but she can't resent him for it. maybe, subconsciously, that's why she wanted him out with her now. maybe she needs an excuse to be allowed to feel at ease. the pokemon is as still as she is, stoic like a statue. is this it? that inviolable bond between pokemon and humans? he dips his head as if having heard her question, a flicker of his ears. the lucario's voice is like the sound of grinding steel, reverberating in the back of her skull in an echo. yes.  @wildspawn |
