with rocket supposedly vanquished, the hoenn region now faces incredible dangers spawned by the energies of ultra beast invasion.
despite the thin veil of peace, the public still faces unease.
aggressive pokemon wander the wilderness, some mutated into their mega evolved forms.
the scars of mossdeep's ultra beast invasion remain fresh. further still, legendary pokemon still appoint avatars, causing more alarm than awe.
in the meantime, a reformed rocket attempts to poison the ground water of hoenn's society in secretive fashions. what unseen threats still slither in the dark?
we're into the holiday season! hoenn's snowed in with new events (hoennian holidays) and more. crazy to think it's december again. with
the introduction of galarian pokemon, learnsets, abilities and "new megas", we've been quite busy haven't we?
thank you to the community for being so amazing and for being patient with staff as we busily work for your enjoyment! stay warm, folks!
hoenn is inspired by, but not associated with nintendo's pokemon franchise. the current skin was created by pharaoh leap using font icons primarily from ion icons and fonts from google fonts. in particular, we would like to thank kumachan and leap for their additional templates (staff temp, custom pc). lastly, custom templates like the gachapon, garden/swarm, and random event template were coded by ulla.
characters, with the exception of canons from the manga, belong to the members who write them, and all posts and templates on site are credited to their respective authors and artists. we claim nothing that is not ours.
he met a random girl before he arrived, somehow assumed that she wanted to get to shoal cave as well, and 'escorted' her to the place. the word used in the statement may or may not be as accurate as it sounded.
"tada. we're here."
he takes off from his milotic as she brings them across the waters and into the entrance of the cave. the cold air emanating from the depths of the cavern does not seem to bother her, although kyle would shrink from its touch after being drenched with sea water from their trip.
the decision of whether to recall the water-type back to its ball or let it accompany him on his trip down the cave was left up in the air. kyle eventually gives in to the cold and releases a fire-type to replace his mode of transport. he revels in the heat it releases.
he keeps the ninetales in between his legs before he turns to the girl he had accidentally abducted. "do you want a fire-type too?" he offers. "like, i'm not gonna give it to you. just kinda let you borrow for a while as a heat source or something."
into the trip, rhian decided it wouldn't hurt to simply play along. she doesn't actually have anything better to do today, with leo being holed up in the mossdeep space center without any chances for her to sneak in with him.
[break][break]
"thank you," she offers shyly, not totally sure what else to say. it's not until he calls his ninetales out that her tongue loosens and she marvels at the beautiful sight. "such a shiny coat," she mutters under her breath. she'd never seen a shiny ninetales in the flesh before.
[break][break]
she feels herself shiver only when he mentions the cold. "that'd be nice, um..."
[break][break]
rhian struggles trying to word her next question because she doesn't even know the name of the person who had helped her cross the sea. she considers it a favor even if she hadn't wanted to in the first place. she waddles closer to the heat emanating from the ninetales.
he takes his growlithe out of his ball before nudging him closer to her with his foot. there was reluctance in the pup's eyes as he clearly wanted to take the place of the ninetales instead.
"do what you do best and make yourself warm and fluffy."
the growlithe only stops acting up upon hearing kyle's voice. he stations himself beside rhian, where his presence would be enough to counter the cold that came from the cave. kyle sees him distracted not a moment later, when his head steers to a random direction.
"solar beam."
the command immediately brings intense sunlight from the ninetales before the fox fires a powerful beam towards the source of distraction. it lights up the cave us well, revealing the pokemon to be a marowak. kyle thought it was too cliched for his growlithe to get excited for a piece of bone, but he couldn't find himself fault the growlithe for it.
kyle immediately throws a pokeball at it as soon as the attack ends.
he turns to rhian soon after, raising a brow at her inquiry. he supposed he did forget to introduce himself before he got her into one of his misadventures. "oh, right. call me kyle. and you're...?"

it's so cute.
rhian looks down at the adorable puppy and crouches down to it while its trainer busies himself with some wild pokémon. "don't be scared," she almost pleads the growlithe as one of her hands reaches towards its head for a pat.
[break][break]
she has just the thing for situations like this, too. though the snacks she kept inside her bag were usually reserved to befriend wild pokémon, rhian sees nothing wrong with sharing one of them with the growlithe either.
[break][break]
"let's see... do you like cheri berries or pinaps better?" one of each is presented to the puppy.
[break][break]
it may be cliché, but that doesn't stop a soft giggle from escaping rhian's lips at the late realization. "i'm rhian," she answers giddily, offering him a friendly smile. "can i carry your growlithe?"
the growlithe takes a sniff out of the berries presented to him. the hint of sour on the pinap berry makes the fire-type retract from it, choosing the cheri berry without hesitation right afterwards. the growlithe scoffs it down, chewing it with its mouth closed like what every good-natured dog should be doing.
"you sure you want to? it's fat. feel free though."
compared to most of the dogs, growlithe were indeed husky. the pokemon takes no offense to kyle's statement as he busied himself with the berries. ignorant to its surroundings, it would jump as soon as kyle ordered its ninetales to clear the area with roar.
the sound would echo within the walls, scaring off any nearby wild pokemon in the vicinity. he'd take out a flashlight afterwards, using it to light the darkness that inhibited the shoal cave.
"let's go." he'd walk a few ways without waiting for rhian, before turning to see if she had already slipped on the wet cavern floors and unstable ground. "mind your footing, though," he reminds.

the growlithe's
good manners make her smile. "good boy." she reaches a hand out to pet its head; the same one where the now eaten cheri berry had been. after returning the pinap berry to her berry pouch, both her hands are free and ready to take on the task of carrying the pokémon.
[break][break]
despite her appearance, rhian is surprisingly strong, and she's ready to show kyle she could do it. except the growlithe is indeed too big for her. she ends up puffing out a surprised "oof" as her hold on the puppy falters and she ends up letting it back down.
[break][break]
"guess we're both walking," she whispers to the growlithe.
[break][break]
the ninetales'
roar
would be enough to keep the area ahead safe enough for them to cross, though she does have to rush to catch up with him. her short steps follow with—luckily—no major problems.
[break][break]
"say," she begins then, realizing the single flashlight may not be enough to light up their way the deeper they went inside the cave. "mind if my roto loto powers up your flashlight?"
[break][break]
if he agreed, the rotom would be promptly released. with all the electricity he'd gathered, plus its ability to adjust the circuits inside, the flashlight would be giving them an even better view of what laid ahead.
"your roto what?" he wasn't sure what she meant, earning her a stare that lasted a whole second. eventually, he just gives a shrug since he doesn't really care. "eh sure. why not?"
he hands her his flashlight since he wasn't sure what exactly did those words meant. she'll be in charge of illuminating the way now. kyle does not really mind since he has other ways of doing it with his ninetales.
the ninetales senses a hostile wild pokemon soon afterwards. a roar from the fire-type is all it takes for it to move to a different section of the cave and leave them alone.

rhian tilts
her head at kyle's confusion. "you've never played the roto loto before?" clearly that had to change. she's certain he must have heard or played it before at some point and simply forgot it until now; if he really didn't know, though, it was never too late to try.
[break][break]
before the rotom possesses the flashlight, it lingers on the screen of rhian's pokénav, positively bored and waiting for some action. rhian smiles at it. "hey roto loto, do you have anything for my new friend kyle?" the characteristic little tune of a new game being started serves as answer, and she motions for the taller man to come closer.
[break][break]
"okay, you just have to tap on the blinking lights and wait!" she presents the device to him. "go on, give it a try!"
[break][break]
[break][break]
in her hurry to show the feature to kyle, rhian doesn't notice the two pokémon that his ninetales scares away.
kyle stops moving forward from the interest he starts to have towards the new toy that rhian showed. the ninetales stands guard as he moves towards rhian and her rotom-invaded pokenav.
"what happens next?" he asks.
he had a rotom as well, though he never really utilized it outside of miracles it can do in the house just for possessing different appliances. it made chores much easier since he can simply order his pokemon to do them, though it didn't come to mind that they were capable of things such as these as well.
a finger hovered over the screen as he watched it go. colorful lights were blinding when the darkness of the cave contrasted against it, though kyle wasn't really new to that environment due to countless hours of playing video games alone in his room before.
he pressed it after deciding he was impressed enough.
