"it should be less hot here."

alexander kneels down onto the ash-covered ground. soot continues to fall from above as they huff and puff from mount chimney, scattering like dust. he lowers himself enough to allow larvesta to crawl out of his arms and onto the ground.

"how is it?"

no response from the larvesta is actually a blessing in disguise. fiery path had been too hot for him to manage, perhaps too used to being in captivity as he was found at the docks. it's been tough to train the fire-bug, but alexander is trying.

"go on. i will be right behind you."

as the two of them walk through jagged pass, alexander can hear the scitter scatter and the rat-tat-tat of larvesta's tiny bug-legs tapping against the ground. it distracts him with its rhythmic, trance-like sounds until all of the sudden, it stops.

"what is it?"

alexander asks out of instinct but he knows to look. up ahead, a duosion floats over their way. he doesn't say anything this time because he wants to see how his cute fire-bug will react.

it doesn't. it just keeps moving forward, ignoring the psychic-type as they pass each other by. how odd.

again, the run into another wild pokemon that one would not commonly expect to find on such a path. hariyama appears from the tall grasses, eyes fixed on th small larvesta by its feet.

alexander opens his mouth, ready to speak but is stopped by what the hariyama does. it simply lowers itself to a knee and gives the fire-bug a cute pat on the head before rising back up and walking on, ignoring alexander completely.
