her pokemon made for an interesting sight; especially when they were allowed to interact freely with one another. she could gauge how friendly or hostile toward their peers they were at first glance, the way they arranged themselves around their mistress betraying their relations.

'espeon and the leafeon are particularly close,' she noted. 'vaporeon prefers to keep to herself and flareon has taken a liking to sylveon.'

only her espeon could give her detailed accounts of their conversations, the gossiping beast fond of sharing the intricacies of her pokemon's relationships without any amount of prompting on the woman's part.

'i keep so many in my gym or in the city's bounds that i honestly should have expected it.'

pokemon were sentient beings, after all, and not all of them were expected to get along.

'too many personality types in one place.'

cait shifted her focus toward the path they walked, the woman and her companions making their way toward rustboro city on foot.

the snorlax was an unsurprisingly hostile force of nature, the creature wide awake and in the midst of stripping an overabundance of green leaves from their branches upon discovery.

"try your best to take snorlax down. alright? you'll need to work as a team to get this done."

cait was careful to maintain her distance so that her pokemon could move about freely. what followed could only be appropriately described as 'sloppy', which only espeon and his leafeon managing to remain in tandem with one another.

'they're not communicating. they're not communicating at all.'

that much was obvious as cait observed vaporeon and flareon ram into one another. it was an embarrassing display and it was little wonder as to why snorlax remained standing for so long. it was inevitably whittled down, but cait's pokemon had sustained injuries that ranged from minor to significant enough to warrant a tight grimace.

'nothing too bad. but seeing as it was six against one...'

cait clicked her tongue and continued to walk after conducting a hasty physical examination of all six, the young woman formulating various ideas to ensure that the following battles wouldn't be as problematic in comparison.

'i'll figure something out.'

"vaporeon. handle this one."

her pokemon released a noise of affirmation before stepping forward upon dainty paws. the vaporeon's peers as well as her mistress offered her a wide berth as she faced the linoone.

"just like we practiced," she said.

cait's pokemon charged forward with a snarl that originated from the depths of her throat, her prominent canines taking on a glow and extending as she delivered a fierce bite. her teeth dug into the pokemon's slim shoulder, the pokemon intending to pin the normal-type down and rely upon a more brutish approach as opposed to a graceful one.

when the linoone released a noise that closely resembled a squeal the water-type released her grip, allowing for her foe to beat a hasty retreat.

"that's a good amount of self-control you've got going there, girl," cait appraised.

she reached into her treat pouch that had been secured around her waist and tossed a single cube-shaped edible toward the water-type.
