It didn’t take too long for him to stumble upon something that was dancing in the dirt.

Wait—dancing?

He had to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. Blinking a few times, he then ever so casually snuck behind a rock and then watched the little spectacle, witnessing a Hitmontop going through the motions of what appeared to be an early-morning routine.

Now, he didn’t want to sic Alfons on the thing so soon—he was pretty sure the Hitmontop would quake in its shoes should he send out the Golurk. Instead, a few indecisive moments later led him to use the little fire-breathing lizard that he had with him.

…which he hadn’t named yet, but whatever, he could deal with that later.

“Go, take care of that thing, I’m sure I can find some use for it,” he mutters, watching as the Salandit crawls across the sand, tail whipping out behind her as she clears the corner and comes face-to-face with the Hitmontop. Nonplussed at the strange Pokémon’s appearance, the Fighting-type continues to go on practicing its moves—at least until the Sweet Scent throws it off-guard.

A few moments later and an incoming Rolling Kick attempts to drive the Salandit away, only for the Fighting-type to walk straight into a Toxic trap right to the face. A sudden burst of Flamethrower follows right after, forcing the Hitmontop backwards before the dual-type throws a Venoshock attack at it.

Meanwhile, back at the rock, he really couldn’t tell whether or not his Salandit was done. He could feel a bit of a heat haze, though.

Eventually, the fight is won by the spitting-mad Salandit, and he hears a little screech of victory, which makes him come around the other side of the rock.

“So soon? You’re efficient,” and with that he throws the first of his free Pokéballs at the passed-out Hitmontop, watching as the creature was absorbed by the red beam of light.
