cait knelt and plucked up a chunk of rock, its coloring having acquired her attention as she peered at its uneven surface.

'i think i'll keep it as a souvenir.' 

she had never really explored meteor falls - the woman had little to no reason to invest what little time she had nowadays toward examining the area which bordered fallarbor town. 

'it's surprisingly damp here.'

the ground was a little moist in sections, the sound of running water a near constant as she pressed deeper into what once belonged to the draconid people. 

'they're gone now,' she thought. 'at least i think they are.'

she glimpsed the familiar figure of the girafarig but her gaze didn't linger, the entirety of her focus shifting toward the intricate drawings that had been carved into the wall.

'looks like unknown,' she thought. 

her uncle had been adamant that both she and her siblings be aware of how to easily read any messages were unknown were used. they weren't particularly different from the english alphabet, their bodies appearing as easily discernible letters. 

'i had the hardest time reading it when i was younger,' she thought. 

cait's fingers traced the lettering, though the message was partly ruined due to damage that the slightly curved stone all had acquired. 

'that's a shame.'

she was nearing the exit, having only ventured a meager mile into the vast cavern before turning around and going in the opposite direction. cait would rather she not risk losing herself within its vast depths, aware that it'd take a good while for her to discover the primary entrance again.

"if i had a teleport handy i'd keep going."

unfortunately her chosen companions for this particular venture lacked the useful move. 

'a starmie?'

the pokemon resided at a pool's edge, idling away whilst remaining curiously still as cait passed it by. she offered it a wide berth, mostly unfamiliar with the creature yet abundantly aware that it could prove dangerous at a moment's notice.

cait felt the air growing increasingly chilled with each passing moment, the subtle change in temperature likely caused by the passage of time. day was slowly transitioning into evening, and she'd rather not stay for much longer; aware that ghosts preferred the cover of night.

'i think i'll take this with me.' 

the woman would collect a single piece of rock that fit within the palm of her han, its unique coloring as well as its shape having drawn her focus.

'time to head home.'

she promptly pocketed it and took her leave of the cave, her curiosity of its contents satiated.
