mateo entered the strange, ethereal arena. it was breathtaking, as if he'd entered a new world. whoever the gym leader he was must have been someone holy. it's not everyday one can see a scenery as magical as this. he wondered just who the gym leader here was and, also, wondered why such a place? it was a bit complex to find. but, thanks to his goggles, upon removing them from over his eyes, it was easy. "who would've thought these would finally come in handy, i owe him one for sure."

and now he needed to find the gym leader. as he stood upon his side of the battlefield. mateo, without hesitation, shouted, "hello! is anyone here?!" he awaited for the return of a reply. so far, nothing.

Esme had stepped out of the battlefield, to the side of the Gym only the leaders could use. Pokemon tucked at her belt. With a stretch her break was over. Opening the door leading to the battlefield, she figured she would have a long wait, but as she opened the door, she heard a shout of hello. Inquiring if anyone was here. Closing the door politely, she popped out and gave a wave from afar.[break][break]

Hello! I am here![break][break]

She gave a excited smile, she knew her gym was a bit much for some. The battle type itself was not exactly the most difficult, but you did have to find her. Plus if you didn't follow the rules of compassion she could kick your booty right out after all that hard work.[break][break]

With a toss of Pokeballs six Pokemon came out. I don't think I caught your name? I am Esme. This here is Firelily, Linwood, Lilli, Terra, Midnight, and Whimsical![break][break]

Arcanine, Leafeon, Lilligant, Terratort, Hoothoot, and a Whimsicott, all stood in a line. Pick one, or however many you wish to fight[break][break]

This wasn't the compassion gym for nothing.[break][break]

woah! she was short. as esme spoke, mateo's cheeks began to blush with a tint of red. "s-so cute..." he whispered underneath his breath. she was so small compared to the six foot and two inches tall dragon tamer. watching as she summoned her team, he'd begin to analyze which one would prove to be the best fit against his own. the torterra looked strong and so did the arcanine. it was a tough choice.

"name's mateo!" he brightly smiled, "it's a pleasure to meet you." esme, then, called out her team. offering him the chance to choose his opponents. "alright, we'll take: the leafeon, the torterra, and the whimsicott. i have some pokemon i've been meaning to use for awhile, some were even imported from back home." he smiled. remaining at his position, he'd say, "i'll start us off with my good friend, goodra; come on out and let'em hear you shout!" tossing his ball, he'd allow for goodra to emerge onto the field. slimy, the goodra began to hug mateo who, greatly, disliked it when the dragon touched him. "you're getting goo all over me." mateo stated in an annoyed manner.

"whenever you're ready, you can have the first move esme!" mateo obliged. goodra, too, would cry its name. insisting that they have the chance of starting it off.

At him giving his name, she smiled. Welcome Mateo. Ever so happy to have new and old friends visit her. At his next words she gave a beaming smile, And a pleasure to meet you as well. At his request for Lin, Terra, and Whimsical, all three went into the battle field. The remaining Pokemon went to their posts behind battle lines.[break][break]

Linwood stood in a fancy pose, while Torterra as large as it was took the middle, in a stand showing defense, and Whimsical simply floated in a friendly manner. All waiting for the challenger to pick which one to attack first.[break][break]

At seeing he was going to start off with his Goodra, which seemed to be a good friend, she could only watch with a softer smile. It was a pleasure to see people and Pokemon getting along with each other so well. Seemed this one wasn't from Hoenn either, and had Pokemon imported from back home. That was lovely, she couldn't wait to see what he had in store.[break][break]

Before any sort of battle could begin, the Goodra hugged Mateo who seemed to in a comical manner complain about the goo. She could only laugh behind a hand. It looked like he was annoyed, but clearly they had a bond, otherwise the Goodra would have hugged him. At him giving her the please to move first, she looked at all three of her Pokemon, which would she use first.[break][break]

Linwood! Grass Whistle. Taking a few springing bounces forward, he attacked with a sleeping ailment, a soft melody that would lull the Goodra to sleep. [break][break]

"rain dance, goodra!" performing a ceremonial dance as the goop-bodied dragon began to grow weary. it would soon awaken as droplets of rain began to manifest from above. dark clouds formed all over the battlefield. first the droplets were small, but then grew heavy as mateo, esme, leafeon, and goodra were dowsed by water from above.

goodra was fast asleep for a brief second, but then awoke thanks to its ability HYDRATION. with the rain aiding him, there was no chance goodra would be going to sleep anytime soon. "good job buddy!" goodra cooed from mateo's appraisal. "let's return the favor with DRAGON PULSE!" opening its maw. goodra would release a turquoise colored sphere directly at the singing leafeon.

as mateo was just getting revved up. that would all come crashing down from the unexpected reaction. it took mateo a minute to realize what'd just happen. once he took notice, he'd utter, ". . .eh?" and that was when it fully hit him with what she'd say. "huuuuuuuuuuuuuh?!" he exclaimed. still in awe of the response given. "w-wait, but...huh?!" he began to flail as he tried to figure out what happened.

"w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-wait?! but our battle?!" he'd scratch his head in confusion, unable to understand what was going on. "why am i being forced to leave?!" mateo asked.

It seemed that Mateo didn't understand what was going on. Looking sideways to the ground, she sighed. What was it with everyone trying to brute their way through life? He seemed to go through a round of awe and confusion. A motion in the corner of her eye caused her to finally look up at Mateo again.[break][break]

He stuttered, before asking about their battle, clearly confused. He then asked why he was being forced to leave. She looked through half lidded eyes, I don't know what part of compassion is lost on people as getting a compassion badge. What part of Hyper Beam says compassion? She asked while pointing to a large chunk that the beam had created, that could have been Linwood. She said the last part with clenched teeth.[break][break]

She paused and took a breath. Unless you tell me you plan to do such attacks, I only do status ailments, and expect the same. Seeing you actually seem confused... I will give you another chance. If you promise not to do that again... If you can't do it, due to not having any status ailments. Let me know now so I can actually fight back. She said slightly bitterly.[break][break]
