Detective Jones had been working on a case for Slateport city for a few months now. He had been keeping track of a vigilante that was running around the city trying to stop crime, and after the couple months of surveillance he had their identity narrowed down to a few decent guesses. [break][break]

While morally he didn't have any problem at all with what they were doing, if you really think about it it wasn't too different from his detective work, just with a bit more violence and no rules. Despite not seeing much of a problem with what they were doing the pay he was being offered for their identity outweighed whatever feeling he had.[break][break]

At the moment Blaine was sitting at the counter of a shady little bar in Slateport, a glass of whiskey in his hand and empty seats on either side of him. There were a few people in the little bar, another man at the counter and some other patrons in booths. However it was still considerably less packed then the kinds of places Blaine was used to going to.[break][break]

He had seen his suspect come into this little bar a few times now and was rolling with it in hopes that she'd show up here tonight. Of course he came to the bar a few times already to get a bit acquainted with the staff, so he wouldn't seem completely out of place here. Even his attire blended in a bit, a plain black shirt and a pair of blue jeans instead of anything fancy.[break][break]

For now the detective simply sat at the bar taking sips of his whiskey, waiting to hear if anyone came through the door at all.

with hands pressed firm against the confinements of her coat pockets, she moves with an all too confident swagger towards the counter of the bar; head poised high and smug expression pulled taut against her pale lips– all while the broad rustic doors of the establishment swing to a creaking shut.

it does not take her long to find herself nestled against the counter with arms now resting easy against the cool surface of the counter-top and head cocked in the slightest towards the bartender; smug expression softening the moment she garners the attention of the worker.

“the usual” she manages to coo from across the counter, her tone hushed and mocking– teasing– as she adjusts herself in the slightest on the stool while her gaze rests upon the practiced calloused hands of the bartender.

Luckily Blaine wasn't waiting too long until the person he was hoping to run into came into the bar. Out of the corner of his eye he watched the white haired woman walk into the bar, giving his attention right back to his drink once he made sure it was her. He didn't wanna draw extra attention to himself by looking too long in her direction, although in a bar that might actually work?[break][break]

When he first came in here his original goal was just to observe for the day but now another thought was running through his mind. What if he took a more personal approach on this one? The fact that they were in a bar sort of changed the situation a bit. It wouldn't be too out there if he actually talked to a random person in a bar.[break][break]

Having made up his mind Blaine slid off of his stool with his whiskey in hand, heading on over to where the woman was sitting before leaning against the counter on her left side. Not actually taking a seat yet. "Hey, you come here often? You mind if I have a seat?"

“was that an attempt at some pick up line?” her attention flickers from the bartender for a passing moment, coy expression settling onto her features when her eyes rest upon an unfamiliar face. despite her mocking words, she does not send him away– not yet. instead, she chooses to entertain the idea quietly all while her eyes stare him down and the silence feels to swell between them.

the question lingers from her lips for a moment– brief and fleeting– and it does not take her long to welcome him to her side; to revel in her company for a short while, “yeah, one of the best places in slateport.” the answer is simple and she finds her head cocking towards the bartender once more when she hears the clinking of glass.

“you around these parts?” she wills another question from her lips though she doesn’t look at him, not this time. she finds herself fixated on her drink instead, bruised hands wrapped around its cool exterior briefly before she lifts the rim to her lips and takes a sip.

The pick up line didn't go over amazingly but Blaine sort of expected that, this wasn't some kind of cheap romance novel, a cheesy line wouldn't get him too far him. That line did seem to at least get his foot in the metaphorical door though which was all he really needed from it. Letting out a chuckle he eventually slid into the seat next to her after she mentioned this being one of the best places in Slateport.[break][break]

Despite this not really being his kind of hang out spot he could see the sort of charm in it but for now he might as well pretend to love this place too.[break][break]

"Personally I thought it was a decent line, works in all the movies right?" He asked with a slight smirk on his face as he gently plopped down into the stool by her, taking another sip of his Whiskey. The man was clearly going slow with the drink if she paid attention to it, only taking little sips every now and then, never any longer drinks. "Yeah this place is pretty cool, been here a couple times since I came into town.[break][break]

There was no point in lying about having been here before, if he claimed to of never seen this bar before the bartender might call him on his shit. "No I'm from this small city in Johto, just came into the region a few weeks ago. Trying to get my bearings and all that you know?"
