Niall grew up in a relatively average family in terms of status, however, his uncle was a well-known criminal by the name of "Black Cat", something named to derive bad luck. He wasn't simply a petty thief and was considered highly dangerous.
The mantle was thrust onto him by his Uncle, who was old and beginning to become less effective in his work. Niall was trained, and originally thought it'd be cool- however, eventually became frightened, and instead of facing his fear head-on tried running away from the mantle all together, trying to leave the namesake behind in the dust.
Yet, there was some form of a lingering need to do something in the back of Niall's mind. This was a hidden motivation behind him becoming a paramedic, working in a hospital field, and treating the sick or injured. Eventually, he was able to work up courage he never had before and decided that instead of running- he'd try to change the namesake to something good. Something that struck hearts into crime instead.
Niall still, however, finds himself struggling with temptation that run thick within the blood of his family. Almost like a born pirate, something that he fights endlessly. Morals, after all, are a shady thing to deal with.
