It was time. Time to face her fears or general discomfort around battling specifically water-type Pokemon. She had asked that her Decidueye, the one who stands guard at her garden, aid her in this challenge. But he remained motionless and indifferent, clearly uninterested in supporting her.[break][break]

Which lead Stormy to approach cait alfric for advice, because the woman was always so full of ideas and support. Eventually, Cait was kind enough to simply let her borrow one of her electric-type Pokemon for the challenge. [break][break]

Stormy approached the doors of the gym building. From the outside, she could see several windows and doors and rooms, including what might have been a very extravagant garden. Her eyes were wide in awe as she stepped off the boat and up onto the platform next to the gym's entrance.[break][break]

"This place makes Lavaridge look like a dusty old rock."[break][break]

Fortunately, Stormy preferred a little blandness over being incredibly fancy. It meant, if she broke anything, it likely didn't cost her a fortune to fix. She couldn't say the same for Miss Giovanni.[break][break]

She cracks open the door and steps inside, peering around for someone to talk to.[break][break]

"Hello? I'm here to challenge the Petalburg gym."[break][break]

"See you next week." Alice waves goodbye to a group of wet students in swim suits. They were members of the swim club from one of Petalburg's local high schools.

Her head whips around at the voice. "Stormy, right on time," Alice recognizes FERNANDO SILPH 's younger sister in an instant, "follow me this way." Carrying herself down the hall she doesn't look back once to see if her challenger was in toe. "Did Fernando give you any advice for going against me? He challenged me around last week, ya know!"

One by one, the high school students sneak past Stormy on their way to the changing rooms. They reek of chlorine and pool water, something Stormy had never been a fan of. Too many times being dunked under the water by her dear sister @cecilia was enough for her to swear off swimming.[break][break]

The sound of her name drags Stormy's attention from the students back to Miss Giovanni. She smiles awkwardly as she's instructed to follow her, and she's especially careful not to slip on the several watery footprints she had to walk through.[break][break]

Alison doesn't look behind her as she inquires, and Stormy can't help but stiffen at the mention of her brother.[break][break]

"Uhh.. no, I wasn't even aware he'd visited with you yet."[break][break]

The fact Fernando had arrived just last week wasn't at all troubling to her, he often visited each person's gym to make sure they were up to par with League standards. He had likely visited Petalburg not long after his week-long training session with her.[break][break]

"Really? Well, it went about how you'd expect," Alice begins to push the door at the end of the hall open. "Maybe he didn't want to spoil anything? Or something to do with sibling rivalry perhaps?" She tilts her head back for the latter, a small smile on her face as she gauges Stormy's reaction.

She holds the door open for Stormy, a common courtesy with her challengers. The room they'd step into features a giant swimming pool, where the two would be facing off.

How Stormy expected it was that Fernando had won, because he often tended to win. She was pretty sure the man had never been witness to losing. Typical.[break][break]

It's clear that Alison is being polite and friendly, and despite not enjoying the topic at hand, Stormy does her best to feign a smile and pretend she's interested.[break][break]

"Something like that, maybe."[break][break]

She nods politely as the gym leader opens the door for her, and she slips past quickly so as to not linger and make things awkward. Her hand holds onto the smooth blue ball on her belt, nerves making her feel a little antsy. [break][break]

The battlefield was as she had expected, a giant pool of water. It reminded her only vaguely of Lavaridge's hot springs, except the water wasn't steaming and cloudy, and there weren't people soaking in wrapped towels enjoying themselves. This pool looked cold and unwelcoming.[break][break]

"Yeah, one on one!" Alice calls back to Stormy as she walks the length of the pool. She beelines for a paper seethed in plastic pinned on the wall. Placing a finger on it she begins to look down the list of names and pokemon printed on it.

"He lent you some pokemon for this right?" Her finger pauses on a long name. "Bah, who am I kidding. Of course he would. Siblings always help each other out!"

Stormy remains on the end closest to the door. It honestly makes her feel a little more comfortable, knowing the exit was just a couple paces behind her. Granted, she wasn't a coward and she would absolutely not run away.. but y'know. If anything happened like aliens coming out of the ceiling or a meteor shower in the pool, she knew where to run.[break][break]

Alison calls back to her, and Stormy nods firmly. Then she only needed to use the Pokemon she had borrowed from Cait, then, she wouldn't have to worry about putting any of her other Pokemon in harms way.[break][break]

She blinks, however, eyes narrowing in confusion at the woman's assumption. Perhaps most siblings help each other out, but the Silph family had always sort of fended for themselves.[break][break]

"Fernando didn't lend me a Pokemon. I borrowed one from a friend."[break][break]

As she says this, she pulls out the blue dive ball, giving it a reassuring squeeze. In her other hand she held her phone, appearing to scroll through some text and reading through it quickly. After a moment's pause, she'd release the Eelektross from its pokeball. It lingers at the bottom of the pool, growing accustomed to the cold temperature. It seems pleased as punch to be out of it's confines, though.[break][break]

The name her finger sat under was persephone amavi , and beside it sat information about the pokemon she'd left at the gym to be trained. Her eyes move down the row, double checking the name of the pokemon she'd be using.

"Oh," Alice straightens her back, "but at least your friend lent you one. That's so sweet of them!" She walks over to her end of the pool just as the eelektross slinks into the water. Alice plucks a pokeball from the pocket of the life guard pouch wrapped around her waste. With a gentle click it expands, and with another click its contents are released. A swampert hits the water with a splash.

"You can take the first move. It's only fair after all!"

Stormy's face pales at the sight of the Swampert. She's aware of its typing, and now brutally aware of the disadvantage she's staring at. The Eelektross seems to COIL nervously as if she is also blatantly aware of how this battle will go.[break][break]

However, Stormy doesn't let her frantic thoughts get the best of her. If she's going to lose, she'll lose graciously.[break][break]

Alison's voice comes across as painfully sweet, and Stormy can't help but wonder where she gets it from. The two had never met, and Stormy hadn't exactly been the friendliest - she never was. In general, the girl was prickly and a little defensive, not one to let people in.[break][break]

"Let's do our best, Eelektross."[break][break]

On the side, she texts cait alfric a brief message.[break][break]

"Eelektross only knows electric-type moves, right? Turns out, that was a bad idea. I really wish Decidueye wasn't such a cocky douchebag and would actually give me the time of day outside of my garden."[break][break]

The woman takes a deep breath to steady her thoughts, gazing between her own Pokemon and the opponent. [break][break]

"Just outrun it, I guess."[break][break]

Alice quickly finds out not all the Silph siblings are cut from the same branch. Her blatant disrespect by texting and ignoring her battle from the get go is unacceptable. Alice hadn't even gotten a chance to put swampert's pokeball back into her pouch before she decides to return the pokemon.

"Sorry, but this battle is over," she begins to walk around the pool. "If you can't respect my gym or battle, especially as a gym leader yourself, you can get out." Alice held the door they'd come through only moments prior wide open.

Stormy's cellphone is already tucked away by the time Alison misinterprets Stormy's self-teaching and self-reminding for disrespect. Her eyes widen in surprise as she returns her Swampert. Eelektross seems to visibly show relief and a mixture of confusion.[break][break]

The woman watches blankly as the fellow gym leader makes her way to the door, insisting that the battle is over and promptly attempting to escort her out. Stormy hesitates, unsure what to make of the situation. She reluctantly follows the woman a few paces to the door, though she didn't forget her borrowed Eelektross.[break][break]

"Miss Giovanni? I think you misunderstood me, and I apologize. This Eelektross is new to me, I've only sparred with her a few times, so I'm not confident in her moves to their fullest extent yet. I didn't mean to disrespect you or your gym, I swear."[break][break]

She takes a breath.[break][break]
