AS AQUA-FES 2019 and its varied assortment of festivities are prepared within Slateport and on its toasting harbor, an ominous mist occasionally rolls in.[break][break]

Carried by a hot summer gust, the coast's tentacruel scars are caressed by the eerie haze.[break][break]

The Weather Institute is currently investigating the origin of the mist, for the ghostly Jellicent of Hoenn's seas seem to be attracted to this weave of wind. Perhaps, they are the cause? But it doesn't seem like they are...[break][break]

Sunny stands at the edge of the sand, just enough so that the water laps at her toes. She holds her sandals in one hand and stares out at the ocean, watching as the sea shifts with the flood of jellicent.

Turning to whoever happens to be beside her, Sunny grabs a long lock of hair and pins it under her nose like a moustache. Her eyes are wide and glittering, not so different from the ocean itself.

"I mustache you a question," she says, very serious, "Do I look like a jellicent?"

If someone had told her that the waves were gonna look like an army of invading moustaches? She wouldnt have come. Staying home would have been the better option but no. Here she was. And not to mention witnessing a blob of color deift past... well... she did need some new pokemon... so Lydian threw the pokeball.

Despite the mist, Callista still enjoyed the beach. Her Pokemon were out and about collecting seashells, and it was a good time to let her Munna out to stretch her little legs from being in her Pokeball. The Munna hovers nearby Callista’s head shyly, squeaking at the arrival of the Jellicent in the water, frightened. Milkshake the Miltank was busy gulping down Moomoo milk, her favorite drink, eyeing the water curiously.

Large feet arching as his toes idly pressed into the damp sand beneath him, the tall man gazed out at the peculiar mist with a faint frown creasing his brow. Dark hair swaying in the wind, he turned his head to regard the woman that stood nearby, flicking a glance from her improvised mustache, to the floating gathering of ghastly Jellicent, and back again. He studied her soberly, eyes thinning as he noted the wide, shining eyes, the long lashes and feminine lips. [break][break] He turned once again to face the nearest Jellicent, a female that bobbed ever closer, and his lips twitched upwards in amusement. "The resemblance is… Uncanny. Does this happen often here?

kyle sees a pokemon with a mustache. he decides it's good enough target practice for his dogs.

he takes a pokeball out, throwing it at one of them. he makes a mistake of using an empty one instead of the one with a mightyena. no attack dog appears to make an assault, but it hits one of the jellicent.

Sipping on a latte, Gemma winced as she burned her tongue on the hot liquid. She had just wanted to come see some jellicent while enjoying her coffee.

To prevent herself from burning her tongue again, she removed the lid and let the foam on top cool for a moment, before taking a sip. When she lifted her mouth away from the beverage, she had a foam moustache. Gemma was none the wiser, either, as she plopped down near the waters edge and watched the jellicent swim by.

A heavy mist consumes the harbor. It passes through every nook and cranny of the place, obscuring even the most prominent landmarks. This leaves the harbor abandoned of the usual workers and busybodies that it was known for. All except for Johann, a young fisherman that convinced himself to return to the docks despite the Weather Institute's warning.

Scratching his mustache Johann recalls a story his grandfather had told him as a child. It was about a day just like this, with a mist so thick that you couldn't see your neighbor if he was looking you in the eye. Days like these were when Davy Jones roamed past the water. Dragging anyone he could find to the same fate he and so many others had endured.

"Just a folk tale," he says aloud in a vain attempt to calm his nerves.

A tentacle from behind wraps around his head and muffles his cry. Johann claws at the tentacle with both hands but to no avail. He still found himself being dragged off the dock towards the water. Flailing his arms around him he looks for anything to anchor his body to the harbor. One hand found hope in a cement pillar, which he clung to tighter than a mother to her newborn.

Another tentacle wraps around the fisherman's waist. Together the tentacles rip Johann from the post and drag him beneath the water, never to be seen again.

Today was the day that Thomas was to check in on the Slateport Harbor, to see how the family's projects in the area were going. But rather than finding any of the workers present at the harbor, not even the foreman, a man with a distinctive mustache, he would instead find the place abandoned. A haze had washed over the area, and from what he could make out in the distance, large jellyfish-like creatures were approaching.

Thomas had a guess as to what they were, his time in Unova being more than enough to acquaint them with the species, Jellicent. He knew many men who attempted to imitate the mustaches that the males were known to have. Taking an empty Pokeball, Thomas tossed it at the group, hoping for the best.

She'd caught wind of the swarm through a colleague and knew immediately that she just had to see this spectacle. They'd been tracking the thick, undulating cloud though the waters, steadily making their way towards the shore. While to some, these gelatinous beasts may have been a little too reminiscent of miniature eldritch horrors, Rose found the Jellicents ever-so endearing, especially those among them who donned a mighty white mustache, making them look so distinguished. She couldn't get enough of how their many arms wriggled through the shallows like a ribbon dancer's routine. She was elated![break][break]

With camera raised to her eye, she was about ready to snap a picture when a tourist brusquely shouldered to push past her, not that it was difficult to do. "Well, excuse you!", she mutters, far quieter than it sounded in her head. The man pays absolutely no heed and hurriedly edges closer to where the waves lap the shoreline. Briefly taken out of her element, Rose looks around to notice just how many people this spectacle had drawn. Suddenly growing aware, the sear of embarrassment lightly paints her cheeks. The voices grow louder, and when she averts her eyes to the sand, she notices just how much litter would be left behind.[break][break]

While he hadn’t been around for the insanity that was kaiju-level Tentacruel raiding Slateport Beach, he’d heard more than enough from his Ranger contact about what had gone down—things had almost gone to shit had they not managed to stop the attack in time.[break][break]

…and now, it brought a familiar sight—how the hell did the Jellicent, these floating moustache jellyfishes native to his home region of Unova, end up all the way out here?[break][break]

And as always, there was a stampede of people trying to get them for themselves. He could only guess what was driving them to near-madness as he idled near the back the group, waiting for the tide to clear out since holy hell, that was a lot of people trying to get their hands on one of them![break][break]

I won’t deny, they have a pretty unusual typing combination, but… well, sometimes I can’t comprehend people anymore, he thought, waiting for an opportunity to present itself.[break][break]

Eventually a ray of opportunity presented to him, and once he was close enough, took aim with a blank Pokéball, watching as it soared above the lot that was being thrown—hopefully catching one of the jellyfish![break][break]

olivia was not one to worry, but after her encounter with the tentacruel even she had to admit to her fear - it left what little hair on her mustache standing on edge. what if sootopolis has been attacked? what if she wasn’t around?

the possibilities were endless and dizzying. even worse was this new threat (?) from the sea. the salty waters were supposed to heel at her command, or at the very least, keep the abbiati safe. olivia sighed, and tossed a pokeball at the ghost type in hopes to further understand the phenomena.

She didn't understand the trend of mustache stickers one bit. The world was full of oddities and the trends of society was one of the most senseless to her. She still didn't have the heart to tell the girl selling stickers for some kind of school function no and that's how she came to be placing the sticker on one of the laminated parts of her bag while visiting the harbor, curious as to the nature of the mist that's been talked about.

That's when she spots the pokemon and it's image matches the sticker she has just placed on her bag. Perhaps it is fate then, she fishes out a pokeball and hopes for the best.
