it was nighttime. lights were shining and cars were arriving. he stood atop of the contest hall, hidden within the shadows. cadis held a mask within the palm o his right hand, whereas a dark trench coat danced in the wind.

it'd been sometime since he had to steal pokemon. he hadn't done this since his time in kanto. some would say that this is a job that should be left to the grunts, but how could he gain their trust and lead properly without showing them the way? this was a testament to his resolve. was cadis all bite and no bark? was he a man of action?

he needn't seek out their validation for he earned his position, but he had no want to demand respect through fear. for he was no silas. he was cadis, a man who simply wanted to enjoy being human while, too, understanding them. but cadis was not alone for he was assigned a chaperone. someone who was suggested by his underbosses. turning toward them, he'd ask, "are you ready to steal some hearts, my precious comrade..." a smile was thrown their way upon facing them.

Truthfully he had never been a fan of Rocket. They were crude and crass, their methods seemed to usually just involve with throwing as many bodies as possible at a situation until somehow they stumbled upon a positive result. Honestly it surprised him how long they managed to stay so brazenly out in the open for as long as they did with how dreadfully tactless the conducted themselves, a horde of thugs and brutes.

At least that’s what his assumptions about the group were and Sable’s past dealings with them never did much to change that but perhaps with the passing of recent events his perception would change.

His sour perspective had certainly colored by how much he did not wish to be here and how much he wished his trip to Hoenn was just that, a simple trip. Despite that, he was a gift to the new management of Rocket.

A gesture of goodwill to show that the organization would still give support and while Joseph did not see any immediate issue with this plan on the face value of its concept but he did, however, take issue with it being him that was sent. But who else would be better to represent his leader than himself? No one else could do it as well as he could.

Joseph donned the costume he once despised, thinking he looked ridiculous and didn’t need to wear such a silly costume but there wasn’t much he could do about it. Over time he learned to appreciate and even enjoy wearing it, could do without the mask but oh well.

”Always.” He responded, meeting the other male’s smile with one of his own. ”This should be fun.” A job like this was child’s play and probably wouldn’t be that exciting but being able to watch would be enlightening.

"let's go over the plan." there was a windowsill that was carved in for the duo to jump through. "once inside, we'll look for the room to where they keep the remainder of contest pokemon. before the day of the competition, the competitors pokemon are left in a machine that makes sure they're in good shape and health." his index and middle finger were used to touch the surface of his wrist, "checking their vital signs and making sure they're prepared to perform as intended." continuing, cadis added, "that way they're able to be at full strength and ready to perform with their trainers." once explained, he'd place the mask he held within the palm of his left hand onto his face.

with that being said and done, he'd ask, "got it? any questions?" if there were none, it was time to take action and find the room that housed the resting pokemon. if he had more questions, cadis was ready to answer.

Joseph listened intently to the plan given out by Cadis. Simple enough to follow, and as Joseph figured, this was going to be an easy job. They had a simple goal in mind and all that was left was to execute. ”Understood, I do have one question.” And it was a simple one.

”Is this operation a full sweep or a selective tag and bag.” One of those made things easier than the other but both would be no issue for someone of Joseph’s talent and expertise. Once the question was answered Joseph would have no more words to be a temporary stop on their progress, he would be ready to go and get the job done.

"a simple full sweep." cadis knew the layout. this wasn't his first time here, after all. "we're gonna clean them out. gather them all up in one room and transport out of their lickity split!" mask on, he walked toward the open entrance. looking back, he'd say, "don't wait up, this is your time to prove yourself through action." examining the briefly once more, narrow eyes and a hidden smile, he'd leave him with this, "show me your resolve, i'd love to see who you really are."

and with that he'd enter the building. landing upon marble flooring. the hall there were within possessed dim lighting. venturing through the hall, cadis would come to a halt. pressing his back to the wall and peeking around the corner, cadis whispered, "there're two guards ahead, care to deal with them?"

Before Joseph entered the building he adjusted the watch that he wore on his right wrist setting a timer. Often Joseph enjoyed giving himself small tasks or challenges when on jobs such as these.

Whether that meant doing something a certain way or in this case timing himself, there had to be something to add an extra challenge or he’d get bored as he had done many of these types of jobs before. This sort of behavior never came before the job nor did he ever fail a mission or do less than excellent because of them, most people don’t even know that he does this.

Joseph followed behind Cadis, minding their surroundings as they moved. Cadis hadn’t been the only one who was familiar with the layout of the building. While not being as immediate as the Rocket Boss, in this case, Joseph always did his due diligence to learn the architecture of the place he was going to be breaking into.

That and learning about the staff that worked here and their schedule which is why it came to no surprise to him when Cadis mentioned guards. Simple enough but how did he want to tackle this predicament they were in?

Well, there was the smart way and then there was the fun way. It didn’t take Joseph long to consider which one to do. He simply nodded at Cadis, giving him a smile that clearly signified that he was up to no good. Unlike Cadis, Joseph didn’t take a peek before he turned the corner to take care of the guards.

Adjusting to how the scene before him was going to look was part of his “fun” and besides, he doubted that they would be able to take him. The dim lighting would cover his approach a bit given his dark clothing and swift movements but he still couldn’t afford to make a mistake.

He rushed the guards, leaping in the air at one, crashing his knee into the man’s face with enough force to knock him cold. The other one went for something, a pokeball, a baton; whatever it was he wouldn’t get any time to reach for it as Joseph took him down quickly and quietly, at least as quietly as he could.

There wasn’t much of a commotion and they were still making good time. If Cadis had been watching this entire time the masked man would give the boss a thumbs up to signify he was done and the coast was clear other than that he’d just tell him.

"that's one way to deal with it..." impressive, cadis emerged onto the scene. together he and joseph would come to be standing in front of a metallic door. the control panel was well under lock and key. it required a fingerprint.

turning toward the unconscious guard. cadis pondered on if one of the male guards were what they needed to open it. "how do you plan to get in?" cadis could think of a few ways. but he wanted to hear what the newcomer thought.

Joseph was more than prepared for dealing with a situation like this. While this sort of security seemed tricky from the installer’s point of view it was real easy to get past. Joseph walked over to the one of the currently unconscious guards and dragged his body over to the door, placing his finger on the pad.

When that one didn’t work he used the other guard and bingo it was a match. The thief would then drop the man’s body on the ground like a heavy sack of potatoes.

"nice work." entering the room. cadis would flick the switch. upon entering, there was an assortment of pokeballs scattered and neatly organized. "it's a shame that this will cause the contest to be dismissed." but it wasn't his problem. they needed to be on their way. "well, let's grab what we can. and, as discussed, we'll talk about a placement for you." it was a pleasure doing business with such a well-rounded thief. "competent sure can steal my heart!" cadis jested.
