slateport was no longer under their control. but rocket still had some strings tugging at their grasp, and some that would soon fall into their web. there was a recent casino currently in the works of opening. who was behind it? a man that held ties with silas and assumed he was free.

cadis stood outside of the currently unopened casino that was still a work in progress. he'd been awaiting for a fellow rocket member to come and assist under his order. "to think someone had the gull to do this." the man owed rocket. it truly wounded cadis that there a human being so villainous, so evil to believe that just because his former teacher was gone he'd no debt to repay.

this casino belonged to rocket. they were going to use this casino whether the man liked it or not. he would submit and repent for spitting upon those of the dead. for now, cadis stood outside of the casino. awaiting for the grunt who would come to assist their boss within operation submission.

The place was nearly complete. It was only the exterior that needed more work; its landscaping a bit bare for the lavish playground set up inside. Cinnamon knew of its interior because that's where she was, undetected despite not sneaking around. Ghost and psychic pokemon could be helpful like that, Gothita helping with access and Misdreavus ecstatically aiding with navigation.

She waltzed out of the building, heels click clacking against the hard surface. Misdreavus still hid somewhere within the building, ecstatically haunting as ghost pokemon tend to do when given such freedoms.

"Hi, boss," she said. As easily as she moved, she spoke just the same, ease slicking her voice. She approached him, ignoring the tinge of intimidation he wrought out of her. Hands were a ghost's touch to forearms as she leaned in, pressing cheek to cheek and kissing the air beside him.

"The key to intimidation is confidence, right?" Green eyes look up to his, eery lights looking for ships on a dark sea.

"cinnamon!" in return his greet, too, the same. "how's one of my most loyal informants doing? i hope bad!" cadis joked, chuckling afterwards. "i'm assuming you're here to alert me that the meeting has been set up?" cadis wasn't one for brute force--unless necessary--so he'd like to have this meeting go smoothly.

they were here to instill trust, not fear. though, cadis felt he would not be able to hold himself back. for the owner had truly disrespected not just his mentor, but rocket as well. just when cadis was on his forgiving streak, someone had to go and ruin it. exonerating someone of their debt was never an easy task.

had the man just informed cadis of this casino, there would be no problem. they were friends weren't they? friends don't keep secrets from each other. "such is capitalism, greed is an ugly color." he randomly stated, "to pour the money he owed rocket into this. technically we own this, though not on official documents." a hand would come to be placed under his chin, an elbow resting upon his arm. "mmm...we'll just have to change! i'm sure the man must have lost rocket's number, perhaps that's why he didn't inform us!" cadis jested.

”And I’m sure you’re right on the money there, Boss!” A voice would call out, replying to the other male’s joke. ”I’m sure this is all just one big misunderstanding, or at least I hope so.” He’d add as he got closer to the duo. The suited man would give a slight bow to Cadis and the woman he was with.

”Excuse the intrusion but unfortunately I’m going to have to steal our dear boss from you and take over.” Honestly he could just shoo her away but he was being nice.

”Your talents are required somewhere else, I’ll be accompanying the boss from here on out. And besides, I’m familiar with the client we’re dealing with.” Any protest would be quickly shot down, Simon wasn’t in the mood to discuss this.

”Shall we get going? I believe our friend should be “waiting” for us.” He smiled.

an unexpected appearance from the man of sin himself. "my, my..." and with cinnamon on her way. cadis would see her off.

it was now just the two of them. "color me surprised, you're not wearing it." he spoke of the mask. of course, it was none of his business. a simple smile had been worn as he looked elsewhere. "i can't say it's any of my business as to what could've made the great 'sin' show his face." and it wasn't, "but i'll assume something interesting must have happened. you'll have to tell me over coffee, simon." cadis chuckled.

"i hope you'll lead me safely into the lions den." simon was a man who got the job done. that much cadis knew, which was he served as a perfect negotiator and right hand man in place of his under bosses. "we mustn't keep them waiting."

Of course he would have preferred if his time under the mask wasn’t a topic of conversation but alas it was only a matter of time before it would have been brought up so might as well confront it now and not have to deal with it later.

”Ah well it was never the plan of mine to be under that thing forever anyhow.” Simon explained, waving a hand dismissively at the mere thought of being under that thing any longer. ”Coffee sounds excellent, and boy do I have stories to tell!” He smiled. Playing the character of Sin wasn’t all bad, there were the occasional perks.

”Of course! Of course!” Simon gestured for the Rocket boss to follow him. ”Now our friend here seems pretty adamant on cutting all ties.” He began to explain, shrugging his shoulders as he continued.

”Many have tried to explain to him that it was in his best interest to not take such a brash stance but here we are! I’m sure you’ll have more success than previous attempts.” Walking into the working in progress, Simon took note of the men who clocked their entrance and clearly alerted their boss.

One rather bold employee thought it wise to intercept the two men only to be stopped by an invisible force. ”And would you look at this! Someone, to greet us and show us to the big man I suppose?” Simon jested, walking over to the frozen man and patting him on the face.

”I appreciate the hospitality but we’ll be just fine. I know my way around.” Unbeknownst the man who was still Simon Amante never walked alone and in fact, always had a guardian angel with him. Resting in his shadow was always his Gengar who had grabbed a hold of the man only appearing before their eyes for a moment before disappearing back into Simon’s shadow effectively freeing the man.

”So how have you been adjusting to life as the boss? I’m hoping the gig hasn’t been too stressful for you.” He asked casually as if a Pokémon didn’t just fly into the ground and disappear. The office they were approaching was nestled cozily in the back of the building, most of the guards kept their distance as they didn’t want to be turned into a puppet like the last guy.

impressive.

simon never ceased to amaze those around him. he still had it in him. as he lead the way, he'd come to ask cadis a question on his recent inauguration. "let's say that it's more than i can handled, haha." it was still an unexpected turn for him. "i rather someone as capable as you serve as boss," he had the tenacity for it all. "it's more work than i thought, i'd prefer to be within a comfortable position. serving as a grunt or admin at best." he'd wave the right palm of his hand in his face, as if trying to blow off his troubles.

"i do appreciate you coming to aid me in this chore." coming to a halt, he'd turn toward his comrade. a hand placed atop of his comrade's shoulder, "for this place will serve as our new h.q. as soon as we get the deed from this kind man!" an enthusiastic smile, he'd laugh jovially. ready to go in with a positive attitude.

"i'm sure he's willing to cooperate with us." and so he'd lead the way, "allow me to do the honors," opening the dual doors that stood before them. the moment they entered they'd come to be met with shock. their jaws agape upon seeing not only cadis, but simon. "i hope we're not interrupting an important meeting gentleman." a hollow smile was thrown toward the four men who crowded the current owner of the soon-to-be casino.

With Cadis at the helm Simon’s heart was much more at ease. The way the man carried himself, the way he did business was not only much more professional and leader like but a lot less heart attack inducing, even if Cadis didn’t seem to desire the job.

Perhaps that’s exactly what made him right for the role after all people often like to spout out that the one who does not wish to lead makes for the best leader. ”I think you overestimate my abilities! You're much more qualified for the job! But that is high praise coming from you, so thank you!” The man simply laughed away the suggestion of him being boss as something like that was well beyond him.

Simon stopped when Cadis placed a hand on his shoulder, listening to the man intently. A smile grew on his face, something about the young male’s enthusiasm was contagious.

”It’s my pleasure to help you and a fine H.Q. this place will make! Real nice change of place from the last few “headquarters”.” And a hell of a lot better than some underground lair or rundown warehouse. Having a much nicer place to call home would be nice and hey they could make some money through it as well, a win-win all around.

”Of course! It’s in his best interest to!” But oh how people can be stubborn despite how much the odds are not in their favor. ”And even if we are this’ll be quick! Though you boys don’t look so happy to see us! You should turn those frowns upside down! Today’s a good day! A day of progress!” Simon pouted before quickly smiling.

”Though seven’s a bit of a crowd gentleman and this conversation’s for the big boys so why don’t you boys skedaddle and let the adults talk, hmm?”

"now, now, they don't have to leave." cadis waved casually, a sheepish grin worn. "isn't that right, CARMINE GOTTI..." like a magic a usb flash drive would slide between cadis's fingers. "you like magic, right?" he'd toss the drive onto his desk. "here you go, there's something on there you can show the league. i'm sure they'd love to get their hands on the gotti family's dark dealings." that's right, the gotti family were a low-class bunch influential family in the black market. on the surface they hid themselves behind a dummy corporation.

❝alright, stand down men. what do you rocket rats want?❞

a dumbfounded look. cadis would say, "i thought we were pretty clear on what we wanted?" pointing to the surface, cadis continued, "this up-and-coming casino. you're indebted to rocket--to the late silas even. we came to claim it. i'm sure you can giveaway one measly building to us compared to the amount you have spread throughout several regions." a hand would be slammed upon the table by carmine, teeth gritted.

"this is black ludicrous!" carmine shouted, "what's ludicrous is the amount of times you've employed rocket for all your shady dealings. we were risking our neck while you and your men sat comfortably watching from afar." on that drive was enough information to shut their entire operation down. rocket had leverage when it was needed.

"of course, we're generous people. it's not as if we're asking for money or anything, we just need a place to call home." and who better to call than someone they've done business with? "so, give us the casino. we give you all the leverage we have on you, and we can continue doing business together." well, he was lying about giving them all the leverage. you never know with these shady, low-class organizations. "besides, i'm sure we can make better use of it than you ever could. right, simon?"
