marco is here for a different reason, to serve a greater purpose. himself. unlike these mere underlings, he holds power over his own dominion. there's no one to report to, no intruder to sample his spoils. and, he wouldn't have it any other way. he's selfish like that, eager to take, unwilling to give. today will be no different. even when playing a different character, one trait always remains; he's their boss.

"let's go."

a man, a mountain, and the climb that's to come. the setting may change but the story is always the same. by now, marco's come to hate hiking. yet, here he is, destined to ascend.

These were two people Celine had never worked with previously, but she was assigned a task and would follow through with it.

When it came to Mt. Pyre, she knew there was no joking around. Stories carried of Pokemon burials and human sacrifices, other horrific acts committed on the hallowed land. Ancient times people worshiped Groudon and Kyogre, they used to believe the giant slept beneath the earth. Those were the tales she recalled from her childhood, Celine had no idea if they were honestly true or fabrications to scare children. Either way, she wasn't going to go unprepared for a challenge from disturbed spirits.

Carrying the teams backpack of necessary items; first aid, rope, binoculars, water bottles, and rations. In case things went on far longer than expected, she made preparations for the worse that may come. Celine wouldn't admit she stopped at a somebody to give her Xerneas' blessing, that he may watch over and protect her from the dangerous she may encounter.

Supertion was something Celine had, which is why this mission would be challenging. She vowed not to allow her silly beliefs get in the way of missions, but it didn't mean she wasn't wary of the enviroment around her.

"Lead the way, sir" Celine replied to the leader of this expedition.

Casting a lasting stare at the peek, they had a long way to go and plenty of encounters along the way.

What was being guarded here?

Is this a League ruse to lead them on a goose chase?

Suppose they were all here to find out.

Double, fucking, ew.

Ainsley frowned at her lollipop and tossed it in the dirt. It was about as disappointing as the two people she was taking this mission with. Why disappointing? Because it'd been rootbeer flavored. And who in their right mind likes rootbeer? It's literally beer, from a tree's, root.

"I'm as ready as I'll ever be, sir." Oh, she was definitely being a sassy tease, but she was still a bit bitter toward the lollipop.

they submit to his orders, even if there's a bit of a tease to it. it's not surprising, but he welcomes the position wholeheartedly. familiarity can make it hard to appreciate what's second nature, something not everyone is adept at. the mountain is no different. the distance to the top bends to their journey, shrinking with every step.

"hold."

something's off. he can feel it in his bones. literally. the sharp change in temperature means something's afoot. a nip chill seep over the ground, blanketing them in a mild MIST. from among the tomb stones that litter these grounds comes a pair: banette and dusclops. they intend to impede their progress, holding their ground in front of them. they're meant to be guards, sectioning off visitors from ascending any higher.

no, this won't do.

"take care of it."

marco refuses to raise a finger against them. two enemies, two allies, there's no reason to expend energy when they're perfectly matched. not exposing his roster is an added bonus, one that he intends to keep for as long as possible.

Celine was silent through their trekking, mostly watching the two companions she was with. A light conversation wouldn't be bad, but what was there to say on a mission? They were supposed to be sneaky, not really the time for conversing.

Hearing the leader's words, she stopped in her tracks.

There was a chill that began to run up Celine's spine, she knew that this wasn't going to be easy. Where did these tombs from from? Was she really not paying that close attention, when did they enter a cemetary?

Locking her eyes on the two ghouls raising from the graves, she grimaced before reaching for her capsule. "Gladious" Celine said as her doublade appeared before her taking a battle stance.

"Sorry ghosts, we're coming through" she remarked, "Iron head" commanding of the blade before her as it shot at the dusclops.
