WITH A LABORED ROAR, the ursaring swings the massive tree trunk across the party like a baseball bat. it strikes chesnaught and marowak, the wood splintering from the impact. Stormy Silph's torch-dancing bone keeper flips, skidding on the ground with a slumped knee. however, Balder Schwartz's chesnaught is not so lucky. having suffered much damage before, the armored pokemon flies and collapses with a thud. fainted.[break][break]

cadis von klaussner' (dawn) gallade's PROTECT allows it to remain in battle after the blow. the psychic fighter rejoins Thomas Benoit's scizor. despite the devastating blow, the IRON DEFENSE was enough to keep it on its feet.[break][break]

Stormy's horrified gasp catches in her throat and she feels her body tense as she watches Marowak be sent tumbling. The Alolan Pokemon manages to catch herself, breathing hard as she pulls herself back to her feet and leans on her bonemerang, her energy nearly spent.[break][break]

This wasn't what they had signed up for, and now she was in grave danger. The Chesnaught had acted as a powerful barrier from harm, enabling her to use her abilities from a distance without as much of a threat to her safety. Now she was wide open, she was in full view of her attacker.[break][break]

Stormy glances around at the remaining Pokemon. Gallade and Scizor are still standing, still fighting. They had their last chance now. This was the final stand.[break][break]

And then the Ursaring drops it's tree-bat and he's wide open.[break][break]

"Marowak, endeavor! This is our window, this is it! Take your shot!"[break][break]

She points and Marowak swings her bonemerang across her shoulders and she exerts herself again, pushing herself into a sprint as she gets in close to capitalize on her low health, hoping that her endeavor was enough to bring the Ursaring down to the same minuscule amount of strength she had now.[break][break]

Thomas watches in horror as the Ursaring makes the swing. As he watches Balder's Chesnaught go down, he looks at the creature, a sympathetic look on his face. Thankfully, Stormy's Marowak survives the blow, albeit barely. Meanwhile, Dawn's Gallade manages to protect himself, while Ripper is able to endure the hit, thanks to his heightened defenses. At the very least, they managed to bring down the barrier, before the Ursaring made its play.

Despite having successfully shattered the barrier, things were not looking good, at all. While the Ursaring was vulnerable, the titanic beast was still able to take quite the beating. Who knew if their combined efforts would be enough at this point?

That was when Stormy took initiative, and made a potentially game changing play. Her Alolan Marowak, in its wounded state, had an ace up its sleeve. As soon as Thomas saw it use Endeavor on the bear, the Kalosian grinned widely. "Thank you, Stormy!", Thomas called out to the younger woman.

"Ripper, do not let it heal! Bug Bite!", Thomas called out.

The Scizor would follow the Marowak, allowing the Ghost-type to strike first. Once it had gotten in its attack, Ripper would follow up by attempting to clamp down on the Ursaring, intent on stealing any berries it had on hand.

"follow up with an assist, gallade: close combat!" his order had been given. alongside scizor and marowak, gallade would fall in line to perform a series of physical assaults upon ursaring. there was no telling for what was to come, but they were going to have to brace themselves.

The attack of Nuts struck home... but at what cost? The hit hadn't been enough to have the bear drop the tree he held, allowing it to get a free hit on the Chesnaught. And what a devastating hit too! The ursaring proceeded to swing the wooden hammer tree he held in his paws, sweeping the area. The juggernaut took the hit head-on, sent flying backwards to the feet of his trainer, knocked out.[break][break]

Yet, it seemed that luck was still on their side. While the whole group seemed to have been damaged by the hit, except the newcomer's Gallade, the bear was affected by the effects of Leech Seed, making it lose the tree it was swinging to devastate everyone. As the tree struck the ground, everyone started to move and execute a final attack to finish the creature.[break][break]

Everyone but Nuts, who was still laying down on the ground, immobile. Balder ran to his side, pulling out an item from his pocket. "Come on partner, we gotta finish this. Don't stay in the dark here." The man placed a pill in his pokemon's mouth and made the creature eat it. Seconds later, the Chesnaught opened its eyes and stood back up, albeit exhausted.[break][break]

"That's it Nuts. Let's show that bear that you got more where it came from. NEEDLE ARM!" The Chesnaught roared before lunging forward, ready to join the other pokemons in their final assault. Needles surged from its arm, covering the entirety of his forearm. Using all of his strength, the pokemon leaped and aimed to strike his spiky arm at the Ursaring's head.

THE COMBINED EFFORTS of the party make for a potent finale. Stormy Silph's marowak hurls the bonemerang with deathly force. a resounding THWACK roars from the impact, and the bear is forced to one knee. the endeavour... proves to be successful. before the furry behemoth can reach for another berry, Thomas Benoit's scizor closes the distance with fierce bite on its paw. berry juice dribbles from the scizor's jaws as if it had drawn blood.[break][break]

as Balder Schwartz tends to his fallen comrade, cadis von klaussner' gallade follows up with its close-quarters combat, the blades of its arms cleaving into the bear's body. strands of brown fur fly into the air, and as the three complete their assault, a newly rejuvenated chesnaught slams its spiky arm into the bear's head.[break][break]

the ursaring wails, defeat roaring from its terrible throat before slumping on to the ground with a dramatic THUD.[break][break]

thanks to your efforts, oldale town's residents can camp (and make curry) in peace again.[break][break][break]
