It felt like he was just here a few days ago. As a matter of fact, he was, however the circumstances made him hightail it back to the Safari another time.

And not even a week after the last trip, even!

The moment he saw that there were at least three of his wish list Pokémon on it, he knew he was done for. Why did the Safari know how to cater to his likes and wants?! What kind of sorcery was this?!

Anyway…

Passing the bills over the counter quickly, he then takes the four Safari Balls in return—and even then, he already knows he has a rough idea of what he wants to look for. Once cleared through the security check, he then makes his way back into the gigantic reserve…

…with absolutely no idea on where the fuck to even start!

Where was he going to find what he was looking for, anyway?! This was insane.

Too insane for words, even.

First thing to catch his attention was a loud skittering sort of noise. Looking up, he wonders what the fuck can make such a loud racket despite not being seen.

“Where the hell’s that coming from,” he grumbled, fishing out Ro’s Pokéball and sending out the colossus of a Metagross out, not minding the thudding noise as the large blue Pokémon hit the ground.

“You hear that?” he asks the big blue beast, and he gets a grating noise in response. It’s not until he gets on Ro’s back and they begin to zip through the area with a boost of Magnet Rise do they spot the source of the disturbance, and Lars let out an annoyed-sounding sigh.

A blur of something… pink, or what looks to be pink zips through the space not too far above them, and the PokéGear picks it out to be a Gligar. A really loud one, judging from the way it was Screeching through the air.

“Gee, Ro, just—let’s get away from here. I think it’s doing some kind of a mating call,” he guessed, and with a subtle pat on the Metagross’s head, the two veer off and peel towards a different direction.

No way in hell is he going to stay around to figure out what exactly this Gligar is up to.

Once they’ve put enough distance between themselves and the Gligar, they continue searching through the area. It doesn’t take too long before they spotted one of their actual targets, and boy was it fierce.

“There we are. No, wait, Ro. Stop. You’re doubly weak to that one. Let Alpha handle this,” and with a flick of his hand, out comes the Lucario from its containment unit a few moments later.

“Alpha, you see that? Go get ‘im. He’s coming with us,” Lars remarks simply, and before the Lucario could so much take a breath, the Houndour opens fire with a Fire Spin attack, which makes him stop and blink. Wait, that’s not supposed to be… okay, he’s definitely coming with me, he thought as the Lucario made use of the speed from its Quick Attack to barrel out of the way at the last second.

“Be careful! You get one shot, so aim well,” he continues, nodding at the dual-type’s direction. Another Fire Spin attack rips from the hellhound’s maw, before the Lucario rears back one of his fists. Conjuring up a shimmering sphere of energy.

When a third Fire Spin comes crashing down around them, it’s here that the Lucario releases its Aura Sphere, smashing a way through the pillar of flames and hitting the Houndour full in the face. Another Aura Sphere follows before a fourth Fire Spin is summoned, and down goes the other dual-type for the count.

“And that’s one down. Gods, he’s a fighter. That’s good,” he says, chucking the first of his four Safari Balls at the passed-out Houndour.

Not too long after, he picks up the Houndour’s Safari Ball and makes to toss it up and down.

It’s not too long before their next target comes wandering in range… and for a few moments, he has to stop and stare, and then blink, because…

Wait a second. Since when were there fully-evolved Pokémon in the Safari? He thinks, doing a double-take as he takes a look at his PokéGear, firing up the information on the frog-like Pokémon before him.

Unfortunately, it’s not one he’s really looking for, so he sighs.

As the Lucario looks expectantly at the target—finally, something he can wail on—he then hears Lars whistle.

“Stand down, Alpha. Not that one,” he remarks. While the Lucario lets out a growl, he concedes, and follows Lars and Ro into the undergrowth.

Who knows what they’re going to encounter next, anyway?

May it something be they’re actively pursuing.

Or so he hopes.

Whatever.

Unfortunately even the next target proves to be a dud, seeing as he already has one in the form of Emma, his Braixen. Eyes going up slightly, he keeps an eye on the Fennekin that wanders into range after they moved away from where the Politoed was sunning himself, and he sighs.

“Oh, come on, don’t tell me we’re going to have to meet everything else before we find the two others we’re looking for?” he asks nobody in particular.

Alpha gives a low whine and shakes his head, while Ro lets out a grating noise he recognizes—one that sounds like snickering. “Oh, shut up, Ro, you know what I mean,” he grumbles in the Metagross’s direction, who then lets out an even heartier grating noise which he knows to be Ro’s way of laughing derisively.

“No, we are not going to scar that little one for life. So back off and keep going,” he addresses the two Pokémon simply, while fiddling around with the lone Safari Ball they’d managed to fill in so far.

“And to think we need that biting dragon or that fox thing! What the hell’s up?” he grumbled a few moments later, giving Ro and Alpha orders to split up so they could cover a wider area. He decides to accompany Ro first, since he knows Alpha needed some time alone.

Going with Ro turned out to be a good idea, because it didn’t take too long for the two to come upon one of the two targets that they were looking for—and boy, he wasn’t prepared to see the sight of the blind draconid, snapping roughly at something it couldn’t see.

“Ro. There he is. One of the two we’re looking for. Well, other two, but whatever. Anyway… I leave this to you,” and with that Lars stepped aside, letting the Metagross coast forward and attempt to poke the Deino in the side with one of his massive arms.

It was almost too late for the Deino to react—until it felt the powerful force poking it from the side and was literally knocked over. “Don’t even think of using Psychic on it, Ro, it’s part-Dark type,” he adds a few moments later, and the excited Metagross had to sigh, because it was ready to launch so many rainbow-colored orbs of Psychic energy as a distraction.

“Avoid your Psychic-type moves, it’s not going to work jack shit on it,” he continues, before the Deino takes blind aim and releases a powerful Belch, spewing noxious fumes. Biting back a laugh, the Metagross was unperturbed because of the part-Steel typing, before it set down its legs on the ground and began pummeling it with a series of Bullet Punch attacks.

Annoyed that the Deino couldn’t see its opponent, it tried to lash out with a Crunching attack, only for its mouth to meet limbs as hard as steel. Whoops. Another Bullet Punch to the mouth had caused it to let go, before it slammed into a tree.

Using Telekinesis a few moments later before it could react, the Deino was pulled forward, before one slug of a Meteor Mash sent it flying—landing at Lars’s feet.

“That was harsh,” he said with a chuckle, dropping the second Safari Ball atop the Deino’s head.

Over where the Lucario was traversing alone, nothing of interest came up. At least, nothing too much until he heard a derisive cawing noise.

Looking up from his private musing, the dual-type spotted something roosted high up in a tree, and he squinted at it.

Hearing a Murkrow’s cawing cries was bad news. They usually tended to hang out alone, but… there was something amiss.

A flapping noise caught the Lucario’s attention. It didn’t take too long before several more surrounded the original, and he was faced with a wall of black. Staring him down.

Only the first one, the rather audacious Murkrow, cawed derisively at him. Like it was mocking him for leaving his human alone.

Shaking his head, the Lucario turned tail and went in another direction. Hopefully the Metagross and Lars were having better luck than he was…
