The disgusting, squirmy feeling—Lars was right about it all along, it was just too damned dark to notice that the fucking ground was actually hiding a nasty, wiggling surprise the moment things became illuminated enough.

“Whoa!” he yelped, seeing tentacles—oh, fuck, tentacles again?!—suddenly emerge from the ground, snaring him and the Ampharos. “Daena!” he yelps, struggling and fighting against the slippery, violating grip.

Oh, Arceus, violating grip. That was something that made him shudder. “Daena, don’t panic! I’ll—I’ll save you!” he adds. Realizing that the more he moved the tighter shit got, he relaxes himself. Hoping that the strategy would work, he tries to recall the Ampharos.

He was hoping for the best as he reached into his pocket and grabbed a random Pokéball. Hoping that he grabbed the one he needed, he flicked it forward, watching as the burst of red light transformed into a Gallade. Just what he needed!

“Gareth! Use Psycho Cut on these things!” he shouted, gesturing at the tentacles that were trying to drag him down. No. He was not going to be swallowed up by the ground. “Now!” he adds frantically, fighting to keep the wiggling appendages away from his face. He’d seen all of those alien sci-fi movies where those appendages had… reached and done rather scandalous things that should not publicly be mentioned!

The dual-type blinked in horror, before recovering himself and aiming a Psycho Cut attack on the tentacles. At the last second, he thought of warping away before a bunch of them struck and grabbed him, Teleporting to safety.

“…don’t leave me here, you idiot!” he grumbles, trying not to get too absorbed by the tentacles as he further relaxes himself. Hoping that the Gallade would return and—

A sudden pulling force tries to grab him from within the tentacles—he sees the blade-like arm of the Gallade reaching out to him, and he tries to make a frantic grab for it, as the Gallade attempts to Teleport Lars out of where he’s trapped.



• Lars and Daena get trapped. Whoops.
• He attempts to recall his Ampharos, and sends out his Gallade
• The Gallade has a “WTF” moment at the tentacles, Lars yells at him to use Psycho Cut in an attempt to get him out of there
• Gallade does a bit of a shit move and Teleports away when he sees that he’s going to be attacked
• Lars is huffy because wow, Gareth, rude
• Suddenly the Gallade re-appears, much closer to where he is and attempts to grab Lars and Teleport his companion out of the tentacles

It hadnt even been seconds after morgan had reached kyle when the man darted off in the other direction. It was almost as if the guy never wanted to be around him. Sure he wasnt the most amazing person but he wasnt that bad right? Thankfully though the moment of self doubt was cut short when kyle shouted at him to follow suit.

Not exactly knowing what to do, morgan picked one of his pokeballs and released the its content. 'Ferdinand von Aegir.' Perfect. With Kyle on the ground, morgan would be in the skies providing 'support' whatever that meant.

Upon soaring into the sky morgan saw the atrocities of what was going on. From what it seemed like people were being dragged into the ground by tentacle looking monsters. The things he saw, sent shivers throughout the his entire body. Joining in on the action with kyle morgan instructed ferdinand von aegir to shoot hyper beams towards the monstrosities below

Fuck.

Things quickly developed into a hellish nightmare and immediate action needed to be taken by those ensnared by the grotesque creature. Chancelor happened to be just out of the initial range of the retaliation. Hazel eyes dart from person to person, impromptu torch shifting from side to side as visibility grew increasingly dimmer and dimmer—the murky darkness coupled with the monsters retaliation made seeing more than 30ft near impossible. Chancelor takes a step back, shifting his body and weight into a stance that allowed quick and snappy responses on his end. "On me, big fella'." The Youngest McQueen speaks, Dusknoir raising from his shadow—a shadow devoured by murky darkness. The Gripper Pokémon phases through his Trainer; sending a ghostly chill down the spine of the young Martial-Artist. "You know I hate that shit..." He says with a reluctant shiver, shaking it off while the gargantuan specter asserted his pressure with a deathly gaze placed upon the unfathomable monstrosity on the attack.

"Give support to the ones who can't escape. Pointless to put yourself in the middle of all those attacks and panic." Chancelor instructs, Dusknoir's ghostly body standing guard and vigilant with both his massive arms held up ready to intercept an attack that may come in their direction. All while watching the happenings before them, seeing if their was anyone he could assist to escape the nasty entanglement of the monster. The plan was to utilize the use of Gravity on one or more of the tendrils to make it that more more difficult for the beast to do what it was trying to do... Whatever that may be.

"Oh!" She gasps, rotating at the sudden voice. Despite the polite warning of approach beforehand, she still manages to spook with ease. Usually she isn't quite as jumpy but... This situation puts her on high alert. Illeana offers a slight smile and a gentle nod, eyes slowly adjusting to the light on his face. "Yes, thank you. Are you alright as well?" She questions as Ninetales draws closer, wispy blue flames dancing with the movement.

Enough light is shed for the horrors to become known and she, despite wanting to keep calm, screams.

Tentacles weave and coil around them. Bodies are snatched from the once still ground, held in tight captivity. The commotion is cause enough for many to spring into action, shouting commands and rushing to the aid of the captive. She, with hands clenched so tight knuckles turn white, stays still as a statue. Unmoving, frightened, unsure.

What should she do? Should she rush into the fray and risk capture herself? People are in trouble, many struggling and fighting to free themselves. She is one of the lucky ones, she supposes. To not be swept up into the slimy grasps of the appendages... Part of her wishes she was, however, if only to not be faced with this dilemma. If she does leap into action, what's to say that she will be of any use? She's not a fighter. She's a researcher, inexperienced in the art of battle and utterly lacking any rescue skills.

Still, she mumbles a single command in hopes that perhaps she'll be able to assist just one person in being freed. "Ninetales," she glances at the fox, who draws closer to her trainer at the first sign of danger. "Flamethrower, please. We've got to try to help them somehow." The fire type does as she's told, jaw opening to unleash an unruly beam of fire at the nearest tentacle. The smell of burning flesh, even if it's squid-like, is nauseating.

Illie turns her attention to the newest addition to the chaos. A large beast, towering over the sea of people with one eye unblinking. Terror claws at her body, a cold sensation washing over her with just the sight of the behemoth. How are they supposed to escape from that thing? A single stomp of its foot could crush a human body with little effort... She gulps, gun metal eyes wide. Think, Illie. You need to get out of this. Its large stature could mean it's relatively slow, which would help in outmaneuvering it. One could realistically sneak through its legs but the probability of it having fast reflexes is something that is unpredictable. God, she's going to die here isn't she...?

Fighting back the sudden urge to cry, she turns to the man who had approached earlier. "Do you think we could get around that thing without it noticing?" She murmurs, the question uncertain as soon as it escapes her lips. She hopes so but... As she glances back at it, she knows it won't be easy.

In the distance, groans filter through the inky darkness, floating on the wind. A shiver racks her body at the noises and she scoots closer to Ninetales, fingers threading themselves into the silky fur for comfort. Will they ever get out of this alive? She gulps again, struggling to keep tears at bay. If they do manage to get past the beast, what horrors lie beyond? She really doesn't want to find out...

Tentacles... Why did these things had a similar sensation to something he had lived in the past? Yet, Balder didn't recall any interactions with tentacles ever since he came to Hoenn... Maybe it happened while he was drunk then? Still, this was not the time for reminiscing. Lots of people from the group got ensared, including himself and Leo. A creature emerged from the darkness, seemingly the origin of all their problems.[break][break]

Seeing no purpose in continuing to exude light from his palms, Balder stopped the phenomenon and turned his head towards the lion beside him. "Quite the predicament heh? Mind heating things up with your hottest flames, Leo? And focus on the creature, I'll free myself." The Solgaleo nodded before emitting an intense roar. As the metallic lion roared, flames erupted from his mane, covering his entire body and eating at the tentacles.[break][break]

Assuming that they would retract or burn off, the legendary creature would charge towards the horror that had ensnared everyone. As the representative of the Sun possibly made its way to the creature, the flames it created would spread to other tentacles, possibly helping , and anyone else near them.[break][break]

As for Balder... He never had tested the limit of the strenght that his partner had granted him, and he hoped this would be more then enough to rip those tentacles off him. The man closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths, trying to summon all the power inside him. As he did, a faint glow began to surround his body, as if the power of light was responding to his attempt. The Alolan gym leader grasped at some tentacles and started pulling them in the direction opposite of where they came from, hopefully ripping this off. If this had succeeded, he would proceed on ripping other tentacles on himself.[break]

The more of the area they were in that Blaine could see the more he was getting creeped out by all of this, now that he could actually see the tentacle floor everyone was standing on his mind immediately began racing trying to grasp some kind of reason for the weird location they were all in. No real logical explanations popped into his head he was genuinely confused. The woman he spoke to replying did snap him out of his thoughts. It wasn't time to just stand around and try to guess what was going on, it was time to do something. [break][break]

"Yeah, I'm alright." He managed to blurt out in response to the woman returning his question. It wasn't but a few moments after he responded that tentacles reached up and started dragging people into the ground, a few people just simply held in the tentacles for now. Luckily enough Blaine and the woman with him didn't get grabbed. While they were at least safe for the moment things had just taken a turn from weird and creepy to deadly serious.[break][break]

Slipping a hand down Blaine tapped on one of the pokeballs on his belt, releasing his Slowking as he actually got a glimpse of the weird cyclopes creature blocking everyone's path. Muttering a quick swear under his breath Blaine glanced around at the entrapped people, instructing his Slowking to help some people out with Psychic. The pokemon obliged, using its Psychic attack in an attempt to free a dark haired man and hopefully someone else near the guy.[break][break]

Glancing over at the woman with him as she spoke again Blaine gave her a quick shake of his head, "No I don't think we can sneak by that thing. Im gonna try to get some people out or at least get rid of..whatever that thing is. Stick by me and it'll be alright." While he wasn't sure if he'd actually be able to do anything here he didn't wanna cause even more panic. [break][break]

"Joule, shoot that Electro ball at the big eye thing then make another so we have light still. Strider, hit that thing with Air slash too." The detective quickly blurted out, causing the two pokemon with him to send their attacks forward at the strange creature. Raichu launching the fast moving ball of electricity and the Noctowl sending blades of wind through the air. As his pokemon attacked Blaine looked back at the woman again, "My names Blaine by the way." If they were gonna stick together it would probably be good to know each others names in case they got separated.[break][break]

[tl;dr: Chatted with , doesn't think they can sneak past the big eye boy, Slowking came out and used psychic to help @blake and hopefully some others. had Raichu shoot electroball at the monster then make a new one for light, and Noctowl shoot Air Slash at the monster.]

Like the rest of the crowd Lucas was taken by surprise when the tentacles broke through the ground. It wraps around him with lightning speed, restraining both his arms and legs. By his side Drampa slowly succumbs to the same fate. Its thrashing and biting could only slow down the inevitable.

"Outrage," he howls to the dragon pokemon. Its strength grows nearly tenfold as it'd begin to tear into the tentacles. Blood pours from the wounds inflicted on the tentacles. The dragon's once snow-white fur became a dark crimson.

Bailey Cooper stared at the sight of red mist—watched how it spurted like a sprinkler into the cold air—and knew that not a single remnant would remain of those that were sucked into the soil. It was a gut feeling. It was something that was rooted through past experience.[break][break]

She had seen death before; instant and slow.[break][break]

The Elite Four member felt muscle memory seize her limbs as she ran to close the distance. Her hand found her belt, felt the shape of one of her pokeballs, and sought to retrieve it.[break][break]

If this was a dream, it felt stunningly lucid.[break][break]

“Tabbytha!” She called as she chucked the capsule, releasing the psychic pokemon that had been stored inside. “Use Psychic!”[break][break]

And the summoned cat-pokemon would utilize her gifts, attempting to enshroud some of the tentacles in a purple, restraining energy to lock them into place—something to aide those who were struggling to free themselves.[break]

as the tentacles erupt from the dark earth, smothering their targets, grappling and slicing them. persephone recognises that her reaction is delayed.

a hand flies to her mouth but she doesn't scream, if only because she's seen enough. she's seen worse. persephone kind of hates that it doesn't affect her more.

in the gloom, she struggles to put names to faces, though she can pick out familiar voices. she gives her surroundings a quick scan, trying to identify someone most in need, and directs her chandelure to use telekinesis to loosen the tentacle's grip and hopefully lift their captor from their grasp.

in the sphere of light cast by her ghost-type, persephone recognises bailey's meowstic doing the same.

» chandelure uses telekinesis to lift someone that's struggling with their tentacles to supplement 's cat

[attr="class","spiral"]most would think that the ELECTRIC TERRAIN did more harm than good but for fernando it is sufficient for him to comprehend the extent of their predicament. the wide array of tentacles make their footing treacherous and his hand defaults to his waist, picking a pokeball at random, unsure of what it would unleash. dreams borrow details at a whim and he can never be too certain how far off it'll diverge from reality.

"hoo, hoo."

the coo of his noctowl brings little comfort to him but at least the nocturnal avian can adjust to the darkness. he doesn't need to command it to use FORESIGHT. perceiving the night comes naturally to the pokemon and when it realizes that it can't see beyond THIRTY FEET the pokemon realizes something is very, very wrong. it chirps again to alert fernando but its trainer's attention is divided between the scene unfolding before them and cait's hurried approach.

alfric's statement is both odd and phrased in a method that's unsettling to fernando. while he has little control over some of his dreams, never have the people within them shown some semblance of sentience. they're figments of his imagination, unraveling snippets of his unconscious trying to digest his regular cognitive activity. fernando's eyes narrow and his concerns are toward their current predicament. without understanding the extent of the threat, he opts for the safest course of action.

"alfric, your own safety comes first. our objective is to dispatch the source. assist if you can but not at the expense of our priorities."

staying in one spot has never been a good idea. not in the throes of combat, not in the middle of conflict. fernando operates like he always does, moving, re-positioning, active while under the threat of an enemy attack. he follows the winding path set before them and hot on the trails of kyle and morgan. "MOONBLAST," he commands and his pokemon follows behind him, harnessing the power of the moon above to launch a concentrated beam of light toward balder. there's no significance behind the pokemon's choice in who to aid, honing in on the brightest and most standout focal point amidst the darkness. it just so happens that balder, avatar of the sun, happens to attract the most attention.

going forward, fernando has no idea what's in store. instinctively, his hand curls around another pokeball on his waist. dreams are a gamble and he can only hope what lies inside is a potent choice in this hellish nightmare.


— fernando lets out his noctowl which uses FORESIGHT.
— the pokemon acts surprised when it can only see 30 FEET out.
— fernando doesn't understand his pokemon's concern but has it use MOONBLAST to assist .
— tells not to pay too much attention to others. only help if it's not out of their way.
— they need to stay moving and follow after and . they move forward and are in the middle of the pack.
— fernando has his hands on a pokeball, cautious but ready.

SEVERAL MAKE THEIR ESCAPE. in midst the frenzy, 's gallade cuts him loose, the tentacle spewing a viscous black ichor instead of blood. without 's help, is able to flee as well, though the gesture is most likely appreciated. the THUNDER WAVE allows to free herself and her two pokemon. the electrical current paralyzes a small portion of the tentacles, the wriggling mass too expansive to free everyone else. the tentacles around @altmight's body loosen... and despite his surrender, 's intervention allows him to escape as well.[break][break]

just barely, 's nidoking is able to THRASH his owner out of the tentacle's grasp. @valyx's greninja attempts to save him, but he will notice that the NIGHT SLASH is NOT VERY EFFECTIVE. before @valyx succumbs to his fate, @mrtm87's dusknoir's GRAVITY allows the tentacles to be shed.[break][break]

attempts to move forth, using the psychic platforms of his musharna. however, one tentacle coils around his leg before attempting to drag him back on to the ground. thankfully, 's ninetales fiery intervention burns the baleful appendage off before the bartender falls to his doom alongside his mimikyu.[break][break]

after some struggle, and free themselves as well, able to escape the nightmare's greedy grip. a PSYCHO CUT is DOES NOT AFFECT THE TENTACLES; however, @n0ble assists with his feraligatr, allowing the ranger to free himself with an apt teleport.[break][break]

, with @bryony's help, escapes. her typhlosion's INFERNO ignites fires that begin to travel across the tentacles, the acrid smell of burnt flesh smothers the air alongside putrid smoke. it causes the lungs to choke. the eyes to water. the tentacles squeak and shriek, wriggling in terrible shapes.[break][break]

@bryony will be able to see that her altaria's MOONBLAST is SUPER EFFECTIVE![break][break][break][break]

despite 's extra assistance, her chandelure finds that @blake's predicament is dire. too many tentacles have latched around his and his sableye's body. with her chandelure's help, he must choose:[break][break][break]

the recently anointed avatar, , must also face a difficult decision. the solgaleo attempts to fight the thirsting tentacles, but the realm seems to be focusing most of its energies on the lion. with a mass of tentacles all around its metal body, 's MOONBLAST is unable to help the lion effectively. he must choose:[break][break][break][break]

likewise, faces a dilemma as well. his galvantula releases a valiant assault on the cyclops ahead, but the tentacles coil around its arachnid-legs like chains. 's attempts to subdue the tentacles with find little purchase. the tentacles begin to pull as the hydreigon attempts to rescue them both.[break][break][break][break]

THERE ARE THOSE WHO FACE THE SINGLE-EYED PILLAR. with a flurry of her venusaur's leaves, joins as he advances forth, ahead of the flames and smoke.[break][break]

leading the charge, rides on his manectric, traveling alongside 's dragonite's HYPER BEAM. his manectric unleashes a CHARGE BEAM of its own, watching it course through the air in a concentrated spear. the attacks join together, forming a singular beam which strikes the eye of the cyclops, their collision coinciding with the impact of 's galvantula's THUNDER and 's raichu's ELECTRO BALL. his noctowl's AIR SLASH is lost in the mix.[break][break]

a fantastic explosion billows forth, causing the trees to creak. some are uprooted, their fragile constitutions made more for casting ominous shadows. as the smoke clears, everyone can see that the pillar has deflated. like a sad balloon, the pillar's fleshy form heaves like a fading heart. its eye is crushed. perhaps, now, surmises, they can sneak past, for the tentacles have become dormant.[break][break]

the sound of groans becomes louder. heavy footsteps and snapping twigs come from all directions. ahead, the path winds toward a gothic castle at the top of a hill.[break][break][break]

He can't even die right...

with a hard flex of his muscles he was out of the tentacles in non dramatic fashion.Rather they burst, just fell or vanished he was free. While everyone else was caught up in a struggle of life and death he just sort of eked by. Apparently he wasn't important enough to try and tear apart.

There was a little more light now from all of the Pokemon abilities being used and while he could help or look for some sort of explanation in all of the chaos, he wouldn't. Instead he sat where he was and just watched what he could see.

a confident smile happens on his expression as the main obstacle falls before their attacks. with the path laid bare for them, there was only one route left for them to take. kyle makes sure everyone trapped in the same space as them is in the same page. he steps off of his pokemon, scratching the side of its head as he leaves it a command.

"charge."

the manectric shines bright as it gathers electricity from the earlier electric terrain to its body, acting as the beacon and overpowering the other sources of light. kyle takes the spotlight provided by the manectric, light shining from behind him while his shadow casts over the panicked people behind him.

everyone was shaken by the sudden turn of events. attempting to calm them down wasn't going to work. the next best thing was to point out an immediate goal for them to look forward to instead of worrying about something they do not have the means to handle.

"everyone!" he rallies for everyone's attention. "castle up ahead! i'm not sure if it's safe, but we can't stay out here in the open! we can consider our options once we properly regroup!"

he hops back to his manectric, charge on its fur still illuminating the immediate area more than the electric terrain does. the tingle from the electricity brought minor discomfort, but it wasn't something that bothered kyle.

his head tilts up to up in the air. "i'm scouting ahead," he tells him as he allows his manectric to warily move further the path. the canine leaves his trail of electricity behind his steps, senses sharp as it traverses the unknown lands with utmost caution.

as she was in the midst of processing her superior's order, her gaze lingered upon the ensuing chaos. somehow they had escaped its immediate grasp, the tentacles having reacted little to her vensaur's onslaught. 

"sir, i - "

cait abruptly fell silent, her worried gaze settling momentarily upon no less than several whom she suspected she knew; though their features were partly disguised in the poorly lit space allotted to them. after a brief period of hesitation, she realized that she was obligated to prioritize her superior's order above all else. 

"yes, sir," she said. "venusaur, with me." 

the girl remained at the silph's side, her venusaur managing at the task of keeping up.

Managing to free herself from the tentacle which had ensnared her, the vision of lights causing shadows all around her. It seemed some had been able to charge forth with attacks while others were left to save themselves from disaster. Suddenly a large ball of light illuminates a path further ahead outlining someone in its wake, they call out to everyone in an attempt to gather everyone left alive. A good plan but Natsuki still felt a little bad about leaving anyone who needed her help, though if she were to get caught again there would be no help for either of them. Deciding it was better to join the regroup Natsuki headed off in the direction of the castle, there was no way she was being left behind to fend for herself again.
