IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT the dunes stir restlessly. as howling winds unearth the cursed bodies of smiling cofagrigus, you watch as they rise from their slumber. perhaps, they have come from forgotten tombs, inhumed in a banished history.[break][break]

they seem to be on the move. a migration. a pilgrimage to another burial ground after a cursed hibernation.[break][break]

what will you do?

only one character of yours may participate.
in order to qualify for the capture, you must use ONE halloween-themed GIF somewhere in your post.
write an in-character post of your character attempting to catch one of the cofagrigus with a roll.
highest roll will earn a shiny cofagrigus (gender of your choice); second highest will earn a normal cofagrigus, and the lowest roll will also net a yamask.
the attempted capture will not consume a pokéball.
the cofagrigus have movesets that will be revealed at the end of the event.
this is a time-limited event and will end 10/25 (11:00PM - PST).

Cydney is half asleep when the onslaught of Pokemon appear. It takes him a minute to understand it's real and not some sort of fever dream. A hand fumbles for a pokeball. His mudkip paws at his leg with enough force it threatens to knock him off balance.

"Arceus - stop - it's just - "

He doesn't actually know what the Pokemon are called.

"It's not scary, you baby."

Still, once the pokeball is in hand, Cydney gives in. He crouches down to scoop Skipper up and cradles the water type in his arm. As he prepares to throw, the mudkip shoves itself into his neck and Cydney tosses the pokeball in a random direction.

The deep dark was the perfect place to find more babies, if she was going to be the master of the dark type pokemon Natsuki figured getting used to the dark would be the best way to go about it. It wasn’t like she was afraid of the dark however, no it was more so that they could just get away so much quicker when in the darkness. She had been on the lookout for something that went bump in the night and oh boy had she found something pretty cool, pulling out one of her pokeballs Natsuki called forth her Sableye Jiro. “ look at it “ she squealed to him “ lets try to catch it” she mused with excitement before grabbing one of her empty balls and quickly tossing it at the migration of pokemon.

Being dragged out of bed by his Pokemon isn't Spencer's favorite way of waking up, but that's the way things were right now. Following his Gengar outside, he grumbles, "What've you seen this time?

He stops mid-step when he sees the — what are they called again?

"Oh."

He searches through his pockets, looking for a pokeball, and when he finds one he aims at tosses it at the Pokemon.

creepy little things get murdered by a pack of ghost dogs. they're already dead, however, so they do not die at all. the dogs just bite at their ghostly limbs, which seemed to have an effect on their ephemeral bodies. the pack hounds (hehe) the entire tribe of cofagrigus, their barks sounding loudly in the night.

kyle takes a pics of his dogs on costume before taking an attempt on a capture.

Like the elite four member Lucas dressed up his dogs as well. Lycanrock and rockruff wore a tyrantrum and litleo costume respectively.

"Go get 'em bois," he calls out.

The puppers ran to the ghost pokemon at top speed.

The empty sand feels like home.

Perhaps it is that reoccuring dream- it makes the scene feel familiar. Standing amongst the dunes with an open sky above him and little else to worry about. His mimikyu perches on his shoulder as he walks, counting each step as they wander across the sand.

His hands drift to the space in front of him to play an instrument he doesn't know the keys for but hears playing in his head. Like a scene from a movie or a book- that's almost what it feels like.

He hums the tune, steps skipping to a dance that he learned long ago in a crevice of the world he might never see again. He's content to enjoy the emptiness of the vast sands until the gathering pokemon draws his attention. They march along it no different than he does and he follows them with the same follow the beat steps for awhile before he seems to catch the ye of one of them.

Evan has to admit. He's always been curious about this pokemon, and perhaps that's what drives him to throw the pokeball.

Most trainers never come to understand the extent of their powers. That's why he employs psychic Pokemon to put them into check. Magic against magic, espers against spirits. While they may prove resistant to physical attacks, a bombardment of projectiles work the same across all species of Pokemon.

"Battle routine set."

They line up, one by one, parallel against the tribe of migrating Pokemon.

"Execute."

PSYCHIC blasts of concentrated energy pelt the Pokemon until they're lifeless and crippled. They didn't stand a ghost of a chance.
