Caius was looking over his selections for his team. They were solid enough for this challenge, but his opponent wouldn’t be having a battle per Derek’s rules. As a secondary Gym leader he may have gotten some flack from silver head for not following his trail but some things needed to get done without theatrics.

Whenever the challenger arrived he’d toss out his first Pokemon just a single Steelix. “Sorry buddy, but I’m not into doubles.” he called out from across the hazardous arena, “Same rules, just one Pokemon.”

"Haha, it's pretty good. I make money to fight strong trainers like you after all." his retort was bubbly and happy, "So, shall I start us off? Steelix, stealth rock!" multiple glowing rocks, just a dozen or so shards of rock spreading about the battle field between the pokemon. A simple move to start, this guy looked pretty strong and Caius did have his doubts as to rather or not he could beat him already.

Fernando's eyes scan the various STEALTH ROCKS the materialize around them, aware of their purpose and the extent of their power. He keeps his judgement silent and uses the extra time to prepare. "Battling routine set." The Aegislash continues to stand there, revolving in a loop as its edges start to gleam with an excessive sharpness. The SWORD DANCE continues and it's prone to attack.

How lovely was this guy? They were a gym leader and shared his craving for battle. In that case perhaps Caius had spent enough time being cautious and should have spent more time on offense.

“Well, someone as strong as you oughta have no problem with this next move.” he laughed, thrusting a fist forward he’d command the first attack from his steelix, “Stone edge!” just as he commanded the attack something came to mind. His steelix didn’t have a single ground type attack but was PART ground type, stone edge was ROCK. WHY DID IT HAVE A ROCK TYPE MOVE HOW DID HE GET THEM MIXED UP.

“fuck.” he cursed under his breath. The attack would still go on all the same, steelix smacking it’s tail end against the ground and uprooting several spike ended rocks before smacking them in the Aegislash’s direction making them sluggish projectiles in a straight path at the revolving Pokemon.

(Stone edge takes form of spike like projectiles, each one varies in size but none are any bigger than a railroad spike.)

The call for STONE EDGE is met with the same response the Aegislash would've reacted to with any other attack. Each projectile hones in on the floating ghost and it shifts in place, bringing up its KING'S SHIELD in time for the boulders to bounce against the glossy barrier, dropping the opponent's attack in retaliation. However, the STANCE CHANGE is momentary, discarded the moment the attack subsides as the sword becomes unsheathed.

Without a more complex attack pattern, the Aegislash adopts the simplest approach. Rotating in place, the Pokemon aims the tip of its blade straight for the Steelix as it charges forward with an IRON HEAD.
