Considering his considerable background knowledge regarding Pokémon and their environment, obtained by being around his father so often, Richard wasn't surprised that he was called in to help with the migration of Pokémon who were hit by sudden snowfall. Of course, not every Pokémon is made for the chilling environment of a winter wonderland, and Richard certainly understood this. The boy actually felt bad for the Pokémon. As someone who was also moved from his home due to elements way out of his control, he could sympathize with the Pokémon that had to be escorted.

On the brighter side of things, this would be a wonderful opportunity to take some photos. That made Richard smile. He loved photography, even if it was just to help his father understand a foreign region. Even if it was never his primary goal to take photos in comparison to completing his league work, today he felt he could catch at least one picture. This was a rare state for such an environment, after all. Such bad snowfall wasn't all that common, and neither was the harsh cold.

...Speaking of the harsh cold, Richard really wished he had a fire type Pokémon to heat him up right about now. His hands felt frozen and had turned red from the frigid cold. They hadn't told him who his partner was, some random choice of surprise he guessed, but where the hell was this guy? The young man tucked his chin further into his jacket collar, sighing as he looked down at the camera around his neck and then into the sheet of snow beneath him of which he kicked. He loved the Pokémon, nature, and photography but soon all that love was gonna go out the window if he'd continue to have to stand there and wait for his mission buddy to show up.

"soooo-rry! i'm late, i know, but my turtonator didn't want to get up this morning."

a flare of flame bursts from the dragon's snout as noah clumsily stomps through the snow beside her. each step releases a crunch, and like a sluggish airstrike, noah's advance alerts richard by its sound.

having learned from his chilly outing with kyle lopez, he wears a puffy winter jacket that goes up to his chin. his cheeks are rosy from the cold.

"wait, rich... is that you?!" noah shouts. his voice startles some of the pokemon they are set to escort: several shroomish, a spinda, and one grumpy nuzleaf.

Richard snatched his chin out of the collar of his coat almost instantly. He recognized that voice, in fact it made him exhale out his nose from excitement, the white steam puff conjured from his own heat clashing with the cold winter air, shooting outwards at a high speed. A mighty grin effortlessly made its way into Richard's face as his eyes met with the only other person he had met with blue eyes as piercing as his own.

"NOAH!?", he exclaimed with matching volume, further scaring the Pokémon around them, though he didn't mean to. His arms stretched out for a hug as he made his way towards the young man. "Ah man, I haven't seen you since Johto, Faber!! It's been so long!! How you holding up? Life's good? How's Cobra? IT'S BEEN SO LONG, WOW!! Did I say that already? I feel like I did..." As per usual, Richard couldn't stop speaking but this time it was pretty justified. After all, this was his childhood friend.

noah chuckles, each breath a cloud in the unusual chill. he lunges into richard's embrace and wraps his puffy sleeves around the other. patting the other's shoulder, noah waddles in the snow side to side.

"let's be real. saying it two times isn't enough." noah pulls away, leaving his hands on the other's arms as if examining a jewel. "lookin' good, man!!"

a shivering nuzleaf wanders to them and with snort, slaps their legs. noah draws his leg back in a brief panic.

"i guess... we gotta get a move on, huh?"

noah whispers an apology to the nuzleaf that wanders back to the huddling of shroomish. noah's turtonator begins to lead their parade of pokemon through the snow, melting a path before them with its flames.

noah drapes an arm around the other's shoulder, fingers drumming playfully on his collar. "what brings you to hoenn, rich?"

Richard was inexplicably ecstatic to finally see his friend once again. Of course he was, he hadn't seen him since Richard helped push back the Rocket invasion within Johto, though they had known each other even before then.

The blue-eyed trainer laughed at Noah's response to his repetitive dialogue. He placed his hand on Noah's shoulder. "Damn straight two times isn't enough, man!" Richard's attention was also drawn away by the Nuzleaf that approached his friend, though for different reasons. He grasped his camera and took a picture of the small Pokémon.

He looked at the preview of the picture he had taken. It was so adorable to Richard. He then turned his attention back to Noah with precise timing and nodded as a response to his question on whether they needed to get a move on. His eyes shifted over to Turtonator. What an awesome Pokémon. He guessed that perhaps he should take out his own Pokémon as well, which he did, dropping the Pokébalk which released his Steelix who emerged with the biggest grin and put its head where Richard could rub it, which he did.

"Go on and use Magnet Rise, Bubbles!", Richard said. The Steelix smiled and rose off of the ground and moved to the side of the Pokémon, behind Turtonator but in front of Richard and Noah, protecting the group of Pokémon from an attack from the side. Richard then shifted his attention back to Noah. "I'm here for my dad, since, y'know, he's a Pokémon researcher. But he hasn't been to Hoenn and I decided I'd collect data for him though. The Kanto-native gave a goofy grin. "Other than that, I'm here to hone my skills as well...and I'm planning to become a ranger!! One of the greatest!"

noah's turtonator is not one to be overshadowed. as richard's steelix makes its grand ascent, the fiery turtle intensifies the flames firing from its nostril. startled, their caravan's spinda spins back in a dizzying retreat.

"research, huh... sounds like a ton of work."

noah sucks on his teeth. he can hear the textbooks and notebooks thudding on dusty desks.

"after this, let me show you around some. catch up some more... it's good to see that you haven't changed, buddy." although his voice sparks chipper, he speaks with a frown.

his turtonator snorts, alerting the two of trouble ahead. their path is obstructed. a landslide of thick snow and debris forces their cliff-side road into a discouraging termination.
