today is a test. one that requires a proper environment. one that allows fernando to achieve the impossible, absolute zero. there's few places in hoenn that can provide him such an extreme dip in temperature. even fewer grant him the chance to do so unhindered. shoal cave is an exception and he finds the briny air hints at a suitable experiment. salt waters proves harder to freeze. if he can reach critical mass here then he's ready to enact operation super nova.

what he doesn't know is that he's not alone. who would think that someone else would have the gall to visit. fernando's not afraid.

he's prepared.

reagans breath forms a vapor in front of her. the chill brings goosebumps up her flesh. what brought her to this god forsaken place, she'd never know. she stared up at the ice that formed around her. it was a look of irritation. unimpressed. lowering her violet hues, they lock on a man. tall. unique. she sees just enough of a razor's edge in his eyes and she was looking to bleed.

she approaches shamelessly. bundled up, but still showing just enough skin to be tantalizing. to be a snack. like a black widow she preyed on others. men were often the juiciest. the easiest. the game of cat and mouse fueled her. she was an expert. "handsome," she calls, voice rough yet sweet like honey. she was tempered like a storm. something called you to not look away. to watch it's destruction. it's beauty. she smiles.

"what brings you here?"

the threatening rattle before the deadly venom.

reagan is an anomaly. someone who isn't supposed to be here yet finds herself intruding on his trial run. he almost considers calling the whole thing off.

almost.

today will not be a waste. her invite suggests otherwise and it puts him on edge. the setting doesn't match the coo of her voice. it feeds his suspicion. it makes him anxious. eyes trace along her figure, welcoming the sight of skin that has no business being left for bare eyes. it's an appreciated view but one that only stirs the question. the same one which she asks him.

"training."

a gross oversimplification of what he's about to do. several pokemon stand by his side, all of them ice based. they're here to renovate their old home. they're here to freeze it over. seismitoad has no chance against the SHEER COLD. the moment it's encased in ice, fernando decides to spare the pokemon by imprisoning it to the confines of one of his spare balls. glalie had been the one to do it in. the solid layer of ice left on the walls and freezing over the water proves satisfactory. and that's just the power of one. three more pokemon stand by his side, organized to step up for their chance to shine.

"and yourself?"

her words induce a reaction, though, not one she expected. violet hues recognize the tense, stressed muscles that lined his jaw. reagan held doubt that not many could sneak up on the stranger before her. she wasn't just anyone, however.

the viper takes in the scene around her. his small army formed, readied and standing-by. fern's lips release simple, monochromatic answers. as dull as the ice around her. as cold.

"the same," her words passive, nonchalant. reagan waves her hand as if to further emphasize the importance of it all. briefly distracted from the man before her, a delighted snarl laces full lips. the arrival of a small pale bear pulling her attention. reaching briefly to her belt, reagan released the monstrosity with-in.

in moments, haxorus stands before them.

"dragon pulse," the words more a growl than anything. it releases the torrent of DRAGON PULSE energy, consuming the cub in it's wake. as it lies still, reagan tosses a small dual-colored orb, consuming it in the crimson glow.

"seems you're quite capable." eyes linger on the frozen form of the large bulbous toad. the move itself could prove fatal even to haxorus, under the right circumstances. she had found a predator. an inviting smile forms, inciting more of his time.

"or, perhaps.. do i have you pegged wrong?"

apprehension comes from a glimpse through the looking glass. their archetype is rare, an exception in a world fill with the simplicity of snowflakes. they're different and that makes them dangerous. fernando knows it and it makes him weary. he doesn't trust her. not one bit.

"hardly." his words betray the truth. the display of a one hit wonder is enough to show the merit behind his power. skill, functionality, and ability cannot be surmised by one move but brute strength is shown by an instant knock out. still, fernando denies it. better to be humble upfront and backhandedly arrogant. sometimes concealing a hand is more effective that the hand itself. so fernando refrains from anything fancy. abomasnow takes his stand and the vanillixe ends up all the same. its typing falls victim to the extra umph of glaceon's HELPING HAND. just enough of a push to add another ice type to his arsenal.

"i just got lucky."

"ah," she begins, her fleeting attention pulled by the dance of death her haxorus wanders off towards. "lucky." she considers the idea for a moment. pressing his ability to decisively handle the pokemon that cross their path. guardians of their homes. innocent. disgusting.

mere feet from her, the dragon faces off against a small fire-type. it's brave to stand up the nearly 6' tall powerhouse that stands before it. it's stupid. opening it's maw, flames rise from it's esophagus. quickly, they die in his throat. reagan watches with disinterest as it's head is removed from it's body. blood trickles down a gleaming GUILLOTINE..

"i can see that. men often... lack talent where it counts. it's a shame, really."

wherein fernando is precise, brutal even, when it comes to catching pokemon, reagan is malevolent. she's just in it for the slaughter. watching the numel's head roll doesn't elicit a normal reaction from him. he faces it with apathy. it tells her that he knows death. yet, he finds it disgusting to watch resources thrown away like so. how wasteful.

"yes. unfortunate. i suppose that's why some train, to get better."

his pokemon ignore the other wild pokemon that start to retreat back into the cavern's safety. they smell blood and turn to face the source. they're prepared for a confrontation, not out of fear, but from experience. bloodshed never ends so easily.

only  a piloswine dares to fight back, to send the intruders home. unfortunate, the pokemon seems to have AMNESIA, unable to process what had just happened. fernando's more than happy to take up the responsibility, giving the pokemon a refresher with a show of SHEER COLD. the combined might of his pokemon come  together into a cataclysmic show of ice and might. even for an ice type, the pokemon will find no protection from the winter's frost. fernando shows it mercy where reagan does not. a pokeball keeps it away from the sharp blades of her haxorus. hopefully that display is enough to dissuade her from doing anything stupid.
