GENERAL INFORMATION

THERE ARE TWO MAIN FACTIONS ON HOENN. Although it is entirely possible to roleplay slice-of-life threads without participating in faction-based events, your character will be categorized into one of two member groups: League or Team Rocket. Each faction will have access to specific things such as faction exclusive missions or faction exclusive events.[break][break]

To decide which faction your character will be sorted in to, please read the information below.

PLEASE BE ADVISED. The "League" refers only to Hoenn's League and not a wider, inter regional league. For the purposes of character creation, those who work in government jobs such as healthcare and education will most likely be affiliated with The League.[break][break]

Team Rocket can play roles typically affiliated with the League (e.g. gym leaders) in undercover fashions.

FACTIONS

THE LEAGUE: CIVILIANS ( #d4a53c )

General civilians and trainers desiring to participate in gym battles and more are also considered affiliated with the League on this site oocly. Although we do not have a separate member group for civilians, this site still allows for general slice-of-life threads for players who do not wish to participate in faction-based conflict.[break][break]

Of course, while the setting's physicality and tones may change due to the clash between the League and Team Rocket, players of civilian characters may take advantage of liquid time or the suspension of disbelief to continue their roleplaying in relatively unaffected ways.[break][break]

THE LEAGUE: GOV'T & OFFICERS ( #d4a53c )

The League is responsible for upholding law and order. As peacekeepers of the region, they put integrity above all else which is why Team Rocket has been able to settle in as they have. This particular sub-faction of the League involves government, policing, and military.[break][break]

government & education

The League acts like a democratic government, where its actions are defined by the collective agreement of its representatives. Gym leaders, the Elite Four, and the Champion possess some political influence; however, their roles mostly fulfill the function of educating pokemon trainers or representing the region in terms of battling prowess.[break][break]

Politically speaking, it is The Council that ranks above all else. They have the power to create policy and make decisions for the region, as long as all of the council members and the Commissioner agree. Head Scientists will often contribute with their own findings in order to best supplement the direction the region takes.[break][break][break]

officers & military

To protect the region, The League also enlists trainers to become officers for the region. Acting as a police or military force, these trainers are often dispatched to deal with criminal threats. However, they may also be employed to assist rangers to handle issues surrounding wildlife and environment.[break][break]

Officers undergo grueling cadet training to become seasoned battlers. They may also be instructed on the usage of self defense or weaponry such as guns; however, such skills are less significant in the presence of powerful pokemon.[break][break]

Furthermore, this sub-faction of the League also encompasses more covert operations. Spies, detectives, forensic scientists and other related professions help provide those on the frontlines with precious information, especially in regards to the criminal underbelly of Hoenn. Occasionally, these branches will interface with the International Police.[break][break]

THE LEAGUE: RANGERS ( #d4a53c )

The League also consists of rangers, a sub-organization dedicated to the protection and conservation of wild pokemon and the environment. Other duties may include guiding civilians through dangerous terrain, for Hoenn features a variety of landscapes across its tropical continent.[break][break]

Rangers generally possess a sparkling reputation. Hoennites view their rangers as ambassadors for the region, often citing them as a source of pride when traveling abroad. For this reason, rangers may occasionally receive increased benefits for completing missions involving pokemon or natural disaster.[break][break]

Certainly, rangers can also assume positions of power as council members, elite four, gym leaders and elites. However, the sub-organization also features the leadership of a head ranger who may foresee the allocation of resources for the rangers. On occasion, this arm of The League will collaborate with officers to help subdue violent pokemon endangering the public.[break][break][break]

TEAM ROCKET ( #7b6678 )

The core motive of Team Rocket is to steal and make a profit. They are thieves by nature and their organization reflects as such.[break][break]

Following the coup d'etat of Fallarbor and Verdanturf in 2019, the previous iteration of Team Rocket's Hoennian branch officially disbanded with the passing of the previous Rocket Boss. The organizers of the takeover have created a new version of Team Rocket that focuses more on exploiting Hoenn instead of conquering it.[break][break]

The new Team Rocket functions like an absolute monarchy, where the Underboss' decisions are absolute. They oversee the operations, recruitment, and overall activities of the organization. The Rocket Boss plays a secondary role by providing the means, resources, and guidance to help Team Rocket achieve their goals. [break][break][break][break]

how does it operate?

The organization operates similar to a mafia, complete with it's own code of conduct. There is an expectation to keep the organization a secret, conduct business with common sense, and to make profit wherever reasonably possible.[break][break]

Recruitment is handled by the Underbosses and members must show a genuine interest in Rocket, show capabilities and maturity fit for a criminal organization, and work well under superiors. Violating general Rocket principles may lead to disciplinary actions up to expulsion, murder, or betrayal.[break][break]

The new Team Rocket does not actively recruit members with overtly violent personalities, those suspected to be mentally unstable or prone to betrayal, and strong arming individuals into joining that would otherwise have no interest in being a member of Team Rocket. However, this does not mean these kinds of characters are not recruited. Nevertheless, the aforementioned types of characters should plot productively for a direction from these reasons for joining.[break][break][break][break]

old rocket?

The remnants of the old Team Rocket are free to operate as they see fit. Many of them have been arrested or have no interest in following the new organization. Those blackmailed into serving, whether it be due to debts or to protect a loved one, no longer have an obligation to Team Rocket since those ties died with the previous Rocket Boss. Any old ties to the old organization have been effectively severed. The new Rocket Boss has no affiliation with the old iteration of Team Rocket and the Underbosses wish to clean their hands of their past. [break][break]

Old members may splinter off into their own groups or organizations to continue their own objectives. Anyone may claim to be a Rocket but they may want to be wary of catching not only the League's attention but that of the new Team Rocket. [break][break] [break][break]

ROCKET NOW

Team Rocket has now revealed itself to be active and present within the region. Attempting to use Hoenn's innate instability as a way to seize power, they cast blame upon the League for failing to protect its citizens. Currently, the syndicate continues to strength through grassroot movements, technological advancements, the accruement of avatars and shadow pokemon, and subterfuge.[break][break]

Currently, they have taken over and occupied Sootopolis City as their main base of operations.[break][break]

FACTION SWAPPING

DEFECTIONS

ON HOENN, characters are able to swap factions. However, several elements must be considered before doing so.[break][break]

Depending on your character, defections can be done quietly and without much fuss. For example, more civilian-like characters, or characters that are shallowly involved with the faction may not require an involved faction defection process ICly.[break][break]

However, certain characters, especially those who have taken significant positions in their respective factions, or ones who have been heavily involved in factional warfare, must consider the following:[break][break]

SWAPPING FACTIONS SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN LIGHTLY. When constructing a defection narrative, considering the weight of such a character decision is imperative. ICly, there are several consequences that can occur:
Defecting from Team Rocket can result in your character being targeted and/or hunted.

Defecting from the League can result in your character being publicly labeled as a fugitive.
[break][break]
Deterioration of trust from the faction and impacts on character relations.

WHEN DEFECTING FROM TEAM ROCKET TO GO TO THE LEAGUE, characters may need to ICly go through a process (can be done off-screen or through a narrative arc) devised by the League government:
Analysis of defector's motivations and context

Devising an offer for the defector based on risk assessment and incentives
[break][break]
Delivering the offer to the defector while they are securely held
[break][break]
Receiving, processing, and transitioning the defector to the League

THE LEAGUE also possesses a RANGER REFORM PROGRAM led by HEAD RANGER ollie morales for defected Rockets.[break][break]

WHEN DEFECTING FROM THE LEAGUE TO GO TO TEAM ROCKET, characters may need to ICly go through a process (can be done off-screen or through a narrative arc) devised by the crime syndicate's higher-ups. However, defection to Team Rocket is less formalized and is relatively loose compared to the League:
Analysis of defector's motivations and context

AVATAR CHARACTERS may also encounter a specific consequence for their defection. Some LEGENDARY POKEMON have allied with their trainers in order to hold a stake in the war between the League and Team Rocket. Should a Pokemon want to support the League narratively, but their trainer defects to Team Rocket (or vice-versa), said Pokemon may withdraw its blessing.[break][break][break][break]

LASTLY, if your character is brand new and has barely been roleplayed, you do not need to consider all of the above. In all cases of a faction swap, simply post in MODERATION REQUESTS for the defection to be processed.

ROLLING FOR POKEMON

HOW TO PLAY

for 50 pokédollars you get to play gachapon/pull for randomized pokemon.
you get three random pokemon. after, you have the choice to pick one to add to your roster. you must pick pokemon from your previous gacha rolls before you can make a new gacha request.
make a thread in this board titled: 'charactername's gachapon'. all your rolls will be done in there.
post in site shop to get your rolls.
once your rolls have been posted, reply with which pokemon you'll take (no mod request needed).
you may select all 6 moves (level up moves only) for your pokémon and their ability. hidden abilities can not be selected.
you may select the gender of the pokemon even if there are gender-specific forms (mewostic, pyroar).
the gachapon system has been updated to include regional forms and the latest generations' pokemon.
due to the above change, you can not select different regional forms from a selection (e.g. roll a persian - can not pick alolan persian).
feel free to not redeem a pokemon you roll from the gachapon and indicate it in a post.

FACE CLAIM RULES

PLEASE READ the following rules carefully:

01 Two characters can not have the same face claim; however, if you are roleplaying identical twins with another member, exceptions may be made.[break][break]

02 Animanga face claims only; no real-life or original character (oc) claims. Video game characters and characters from other pieces media are allowed, but ensure graphics are in the animanga/cartoon/comic art style.[break][break]

03 You are allowed to face claim characters from the Pokemon franchise.[break][break]

04 Please try your best to credit the artists of your graphics in the mini-profile.[break][break]

05 VTubers are allowed to be face claim provided that they are NOT INDIE Vtubers. VTubers that are designed and produced by companies are allowed to be face claimed.[break][break]

06 Artificial intelligence (AI) art is not allowed for face claim usage.[break][break]

07 Face claims are not always 1:1 representations of a character's appearance. Please consult players of their respective characters if you are curious.

RESERVATION RULES

03 Reservations last for two weeks. for this reason, please ensure that you post in this thread after your character has been accepted so that there are no mix-ups about availability of face claims.[break][break]

04 You do not need to reserve a character in order to claim them upon acceptance. If someone else reserves the character before your OC is accepted, however, they have the right to that character as a claim; you will either have to wait out their reservation period or choose a different face claim before you can be accepted![break][break]

ROLEPLAY AS YOUR POKEMON - REAP REWARDS!

HOW TO POKE JOBS

BUSINESSES NEED YOUR HELP! companies such as macro cosmos and local businesses often require pokemon to fulfill their day to day errands. in hoenn, the poke jobs system has arrived to help alleviate such needs. should you desire a little bit of coin, send your pokemon off for the day to contribute to the capitalist machine![break][break]

to participate, view the job board to check for available poke jobs. if there is one, see if anyone would like to participate (discord is recommended). most poke jobs will have a maximum of 8 players, but you do not need to fill the maximum.[break][break]

after you have gathered the necessary players, create a thread in the specified board. you will be roleplaying as the pokemon your character has sent for the job.[break][break]

all you need to do is write one post detailing how your pokemon is performing the job! once everyone has made a post and the thread is ready to be archived, notify shiv in the moderation requests. feel free to continue the thread past one post—but the thread will not garner any extra rewards.

SPECIFIC GUIDELINES

there is NO INFAMY requirement to participate in poke jobs.

you can only participate in 1 POKE JOB at a time as a player.

you can only participate/complete/and or signup for 1 POKE JOB a day.

do not badger other players to post in poke jobs; however, if they have not posted in the poke job a week after its initiation, you may replace them.

you must sign-up in the job board with the other players after choosing an available poke job. you can have one person be responsible for tagging everyone in a single sign-up post if you'd like!

poke jobs often have prerequisites such as certain abilities, moves or typings.
