Bitter Blades sliced into the nearest opposing Pokemon. Meanwhile, Cobalt, manifesting a bone staff out of his Aura, beat down several of the goon's Pokemon in a violent Bone Rush. Ralph took the heat from his allies, allowing himself to tank any retaliation that came his way, empowering the Rage Fists he'd use to pulverize those who remained.

With their plans having gone awry, the hostage takers scrambled. While the worker took out a couple with a dropkick, Thomas' Joltik began to ensnare a larger group of them in a wide Electroweb. Just like the first goon who had fallen, the electrified webbing knocked the thugs out.

While Thomas finished patching up the injured scientist, Mordred's blades sliced apart the bonds of the remaining hostages.

The last of the hostage takers quickly fled for the exit, desperately trying to escape the surprise attack they endured.

As Isaac readied himself to land the hit, Thomas didn't flinch, or blink. Even as the man made his move, his eyes showed no fear, only resignation. When he pulled back at the last moment, instead patting him on the shoulder, Thomas' eyes showed shock at the gesture of mercy.

Was he saving it for a different occasion?

Thomas silently reflected on Isaac's words. Though he'd argue that Isaac might get closure out of the attack, he ultimately respected the man's decision. All they could do was fight for the future. Prevent it from falling to a dark fate under Rocket, or an end brought about by the Drk Triad, or other forces that sought to end them.

"Fighting for a better tomorrow. For a better life for Hoenn, and its people. For the world.", Thomas uttered.

As the teenager mentioned Hisuian Zoroark lacerating themselves upon using their power, Thomas' eyebrow raised. Though he had read up on the Hisuian Pokemon, he never got the chance to look too closely into Zoroark's Hisuian counterpart. "I see, that's interesting, and concerning.", Thomas remarked, frowning at the idea that the Zoroark actively injured itself to use its power. "I'm just glad Pulse could provide some relief to Mirage. He's a total sweetheart.", Thomas remarked, looking over to Pulse, and smiling warmly.

"Nice to meet you, Axel. My name is Thomas.", he formally introduced himself to the teen.

As Josh stepped into the room, Thomas stood up. "Devlin, good to see you!", Thomas told the newly minted Champion. "Don't worry about it, been recovering after the day today.", he'd tell him.

"Me and Captain Nariya dealt with a Paradox Pokemon, one resembling Entei. She managed to capture them, nearly getting herself killed trying to ride them.", Thomas began. "She wanted me to deliver the Pokeball to you.", he finished, holding out the Pokeball containing the 'Ancient Entei' they dealt with.

"Also, I know this is a selfish question for me to ask, but when you were down there, did you happen to run into DESIREE BLOOMS?", he'd inquire. It was clear he was worried about the Minor League Gym Leader.

"A Mudbray? Very nice. If you plan on evolving them, Mudsdale make for great mounts, especially for long treks and traversing rough terrain.", Thomas noted. "And I have all kinds of Pokemon on my Ranch. I not only train Pokemon for combat, but it also serves as a sanctuary for Pokemon that with to live peaceful lives.", he'd tell the boy.

"Back in Kanto, when I was a teenager, I'd work weekends at a Ranch, to make some extra money. I learned a lot from those days, and developed a love for the work. After resigning from my job, I used my savings to buy a Ranch from someone who wanted to sell it off. Had to put in some work to get it up to snuff, but I'm proud of what it's become.", he'd tell the boy.

As the teenager squeezed him, the Audino let out a happy little squeak, before attempting to tighten his own hug. Granted, his stubby little arms could only do so much, but it was clear he enjoyed the hug. The Wigglytuff's soft coat of fur against his caused the Audino to almost melt as well. He didn't want to stop hugging her, but as she broke off the hug, he went over to the Minccino. The Audino responded to the little gal's nuzzle with one of his own, giggling softly.

Once he finished with the Minccino, Pulse approached the Primeape, offering the Fighting-type a hug. If he rejected him, that was fine, he'd just go back to cuddling his master.

"Nothing but the best for the little guy. And all of his friends.", Thomas told Thea, smiling as he watched the affectionate little fuzzball at work.

"It's nice to meet you all. My name is Thomas.", he'd introduce himself. "I operate a Ranch here in town. If you'd like to visit, I have plenty more Pokemon like Pulse, as well as many strong Pokemon for Zeus to spar with, if that's what he'd like.", Thomas offered.

Thomas frowned as he heard her answer. "I got this, then. But if you'd like, I'd be glad to give you some explosives training after all this.", he'd offer the former Councilwoman.

Not out of disrespect. Given how sensitive and dangerous the explosives were, he didn't feel comfortable having someone without real experience handle them.

Under the cover of Zoroark's Illusions, Thomas planted each explosive carefully. After sticking them onto places that they'd have to actually look for, Thomas armed each bomb with a code, linking them to a detonator.

Finally, Thomas finished with the last bomb.

"Let's get out of here!", Thomas told Elinor, rushing out of the camp the way they came before.

Once they got clear of the camp, Thomas activated the bombs, blowing the Drk Triad Outpost up, along with the grunts patrolling the grounds.

"A massive beast of earth with a giant bowl on its head. Has the power to induce fear. Clashed with Zaican, which caused us to become trapped in another world for a moment, but it felt like several years.", he'd whisper. "If you've been feeling sudden and debilitating pangs of terror throughout the day, I suspect it's the influence of Ting Lu.", he'd explain to her.

As they got behind one of the buildings, they'd be greeted by Thomas' Zoroark, Kuma Lisa.

"Kuma Lisa will cover us from here.", he'd assure the former councilwoman, before removing his backpack, to reveal explosives he brought along.

"You know how to plant and arm explosives?", he'd inquire.

Whether or not she knew, the plan was the same: plant them bombs in key locations across the camp. If she knew, it'd make the job that much quicker, especially if multiple bombs could be planted in Zoroark's effective radius. "Once we're finished, we get clear, and blow this place to hell.", he whispered to Elinor.

In the aftermath of their battle with the Gouging Fire, Thomas left the Giant Chasm with Shalin Nariya. After having seen to her safe arrival at the Ranger Base, Thomas waited. Rather than venturing back out there, the Kalosian instead felt it was best to await the Gym Leader's inevitable return.

That, and he was hoping to hear news of DESIREE BLOOMS's whereabouts. Whether she was safe or not, surely the Rangers were among the first he'd hear it from.

Thomas clasped the Pokeball containing the beast in his hands, waiting in silent anxiety for Josh Devlin's return.

As the Basculegion shook him, Thomas shook his head. Perhaps all that had been going on prior to this had distracted Thomas. "Thanks, Ermac. I'll be more careful.", he told the Basculegion.

Thomas watched as Josh Devlin passed him. Despite this, the man didn't let it get to him.

As the duo emerged from the tunnel, they'd find themselves on the meandering right side.

"Let's keep our cool here!", he told the Basculegion, more worried about staying in the race, than getting first, especially this early on.

Not that Ermac needed the reminder.

Thankfully, Shalin managed to successfully capture the Entei-like beast, before she lost consciousness. Thomas hopped off of Kalameet, rushing to the Captain's side.

"Shalin!", Thomas called out to his friend.

Thankfully, she was alive, despite her ordeal. "You got it.", Thomas told Shalin, collecting the Pokeball that contained the Entei-like beast.

Thomas recalled Midir and Freke. "I'll help you get to Oldale, then I'll take it to Josh!" Thomas told Shalin, ready to help her get in the saddle, before he boarded his Hydreigon again.

The vines erupting from the earth was a welcome sight. The support from Tapu Bulu not only ensnared many of the opposing Paradox Pokemon, but overall made it more difficult for them to close in on them.

Thomas' Pokemon made their way back to him. Thomas recalled Mordred, Iron Crown, and Artanis. Thomas helped the technician climb onto his Flygon, before climbing onto Midir.

"Agreed, let's get the fuck outta here!", Thomas called out to Roy, before flying off on the primal Salamence.

Thomas nodded to his Ceruledge, before the duo made their plunge. The Rotom camera floated down after them, shocked at what they were doing.

Thomas and Mordred allowed themselves to freefall for a while, diving towards the earth, before stretching out their limbs. Thomas grabbed onto the Ceruledge, who whisked them both away into the Phantom Force.

The duo emerged safely at ground level. Thomas grinned to Mordred, satisfied with having pulled off such a stunt. "We need to do that more often!", Thomas remarked excitedly, adrenaline pumping through his veins.

The Rotom soon arrived, relieved to see the duo unharmed, but angry that they'd pull such a reckless stunt.
