Jacob did not know what came over him. One moment, he was racing up the stairs with his Zorua, holding her close as he stopped three fourths of the way up. He was scared, too scared to press on. But as the battle raged on, as Dominic was in danger, something came over him. Sending out his Pawniard. "Night Slash.", he told the Steel-type, pointing forward to the two Pokemon.

In that moment, both Jacob and his Pawniard darted from the smoke, with the Steel-type slashing at the Claydol and Gardevoir, while Jacob rushed Lucas, slugging him in the face in an attempt to save his superior.

It was in that moment that Jacob looked up to see the descent of the bird. Seeing that it was coming for Boris, and most importantly, the Jirachi, Jacob quickly shoved the man aside as hard as he could, getting him out of the path of the talons that would dig into his body. Jacob's eyes shot open in pain, gurgled screams emitted from him as the talons ripped into his form, before he finally succumbed to the talons of the bird ripping through his body.

His last thoughts were of Rowan and Lillie, hoping that if there was an afterlife, that he'd be able to reunite with them both, and reconcile with them.

He was done now.

Up until this point, the hapless Grunt utterly and failed to realize just who he was talking to. But once she mentioned that she was one of the Four Beasts, his grumpy expression immediately turned to one of shock. The look in his eyes said everything. All he could do was hope that she would show him mercy.

"M-my apologies, ma'am!", Jacob said to her, his tone immediately changing to match his body language. "I-if you'd consider it compensation for my ignorance and insolence, I'd like to offer you the Deino I just caught....", Jacob said to her, offering her the now filled Pokeball with the Deino in it.

Jacob watched on in shock as the Darmanitan punched the floor with a Fire Punch. Counting his lucky stars that the flooding in the room prevented it from reaching him, he would briefly look down to see the destruction down on the first floor. Gulping nervously, Jacob quickly looked back up, and focused on the exit.

As the cone of flames fired off from the immobilized Darmanitan, Morrigan would attempt to dodge the attack by deftly leaping out of its path. In any case, Morrigan, Jacob, Chip, and Catty would all be making a mad dash towards the third floor, hoping to get the hell out of dodge.

Jacob would watch on as the two "statues" sprung to life. The Unovan had heard about such a thing before, Darmanitan going into a statue-like state, a Zen Mode, but had never seen it before. In any case, Jacob let out a nervous gulp, before turning to his team of Pokemon. Though he was nervous about this, he wasn't going to let the duo stop him. Especially if it meant being able to get a wish from Jirachi.

"Morrigan, Taunt one of the Darmanitan, and use Night Daze! Chip, Crunch on the first one! Catty, Fake Out the second one!", Jacob called out to his Pokemon.

Catty, moving quickly, ran up to one of the Darmanitan, the one who was targeted by the Decidueye, attempting to go in for an intimidating, if light attack, with the sole purpose of getting it to flinch. Meanwhile, Morrigan would let out a Taunt at the other Darmanitan, before firing a dark wave of energy towards the two Darmanitan. Meanwhile, Chip would rush up to the Darmanitan that wasn't subjected to the Purrloin's Fake Out, attempting to bite down on the creature as hard as it could.

Tupac's attempts to suppress the raging fires with Sand Attack were, in all honesty, quite laughable. While such a gesture did show he intended to help, all it was good for was choking out smaller fire, fire that would end up coming back, and engulfing the Scraggy. Jacob could feel his heart sink as he heard the Scraggy's cries of pain, before a Scalding blast of water doused the flames. Jacob saw how bad the little guy looked, and recalled him immediately, before joining the others in fleeing up the steps.

Jacob would do his best to avoid the others, to avoid stumbling along the steps as he and the others raced against the flames. The sound of a Rapidash falling through the floorboards only spooked the Rocket further. Looking back, he would see the smoke slowly advancing up the stairwell. The three flights of stairs felt like an endless loop of stairs to the scared young man, who just wanted to get out, and get this over with.

Finally, the group would all make it up to the second level. Jacob slumped against the wall, desperately attempting to catch his breath. He would see Nikolai from a distance, seeing how bad he looked. Despite the fact that he too was a traitor to Rocket, Jacob couldn't help but feel bad for the man.

As soon as Silph prompted the others to bring out their Dark-types for battle, Jacob shot back up to his feet. He would take out three Pokeballs, releasing a Zorua, a Purrloin, and a Sandile from their containers. While they were 'young', he was hoping they'd make some sort of contribution to the battle.

Jacob, being too dense to understand what the Beast was getting at, narrowed his eyes at her when she made the comment. "Idle threats? What the fuck are you on about!? And what the fuck do you mean I don't know who my superiors are!?", Jacob asked her, still agitated over the way the woman was speaking to him. It would seem that the Beast would need to spell it out to the lad directly, as he was just too dense to see what she was hinting at.

Jacob couldn't help but look on at the way Emma and her Ariados handled the Salandit. Even among the things he'd seen and done over the past year, this came off as particularly cruel to the young man, especially when the Ariados strung her up. He couldn't help but internally question if he'd be seeing worse in due time.

All he could do was collect the Pokeball that housed his new Deino in silence.

As the 'puzzle' was solved, Jacob would watch in disbelief as the scenes played out through the flames. Before they knew it, they would spot the traitor among one of the fires. Jacob had to maintain the image of ignorance, given that he was supposed to be some random trainer, therefore not being in a position to know who the man in the flames was.

As the building went up in flames, Jacob looked around in a panic. The first thought that came to mind was going for the exit, but there were two problems with that. The first being that if he ran out of the building, then Emma would kill him as soon as she found him, in a way that was far worse than burning alive. The second, and most relevant problem, was that the doors to the temple had seemingly disappeared.

As smoke filled the room, Jacob desperately covered his mouth and nose by pulling his shirt over them, before making a mad dash towards the stairs, seeing the others going for them. As he made his way towards the stairs, he'd notice Emma was trying to help quash the flames with Rock Slide. Jacob shakily reached for a Pokeball, letting out a Scraggy.

"Tupac, Sand Attack the flames!", Jacob called out to the reptilian fighter desperately.

The Scraggy nodded, kicking up what dirt and sand he could over the flames in some attempt to help suppress them. After a moment, Jacob and Tupac would make their retreat up the stairs, hoping to get out of dodge before the smoke could get to them.

As Jacob peered around the corner, he would notice a couple of Rockets continue to instigate with the intruder. Despite her claim that she was a powerful trainer, all that did was rile up his cohorts. The fact that all she had to show for it was a Castform, who seemed to be out of its element, made even Jacob doubt her claims. After all, he knew that look all too well, it was a face his own Pokemon often put up when trying to seem tough, and would often result in a resounding defeat.

When the fire came down from the nearby rooftops, that was all Jacob needed to see in order to make his retreat. There was no way he would be of any use in such a situation, and seeing that Chu-e, and the pink-haired girl were in retreat as well, he felt that he'd be justified in doing so. Though he dreaded the reprimand over even letting these intruders roam in their city that would come, his prime concern was getting out alive now.

Just what the hell had Jacob gotten himself into?

When the redhead heard that one of their underbosses turned against them, and decided to kidnap a Jirachi on his way out, Jacob was quick to accept the mission, despite the danger involved. Unlike most Rockets, Jacob wasn't too zealous, or too bloodthirsty, so accepting an assassination mission seemed out of character for him. Perhaps it was to prove himself, especially after he ran his mouth in front of a Beast without knowing who she was first. Or perhaps he was hoping that he could get Jirachi to grant his wish to resurrect his girlfriend and daughter.

Unlike his pink-haired comrade, who overslept, Jacob couldn't get any sleep at all. With a can of an energy drink in hand, Jacob found himself getting onto the boat early. Dressed casually in a red t-shirt, a pair of beige cargo shorts, and high-topped sneakers, along with a bandage covering his head tattoo, Jacob could easily pass as any League registered trainer who was simply there to rescue the Jirachi.

Upon arriving on shore, Jacob would walk into the temple. The boy was clearly nervous, which seemed to be natural, given what everyone was going against. He would look around at the various trainers who were in on this mission. While his mind was wracked with the possibility of being found out, or dying in some horrible way, he just barely kept his cool. Taking a swig of his energy drink, Jacob would press on.

'Just relax, Jacob, you got this.', he thought to himself as he entered the tower.

Jacob would look around at his surroundings, seeing the braziers, as well as the staircase. The first thing the redhead would do was make a beeline towards the stairs, being stopped by the stone wall impeding his path. Jacob looked at the wall in frustration, seeing no opening. The man would then go back down the stairs, taking another look at the braziers, as well as the paper tags. The dialect was one he had no hope of understanding, and the sight of the gems on the ground leading up to the staircase only frustrated him.

"Great...", Jacob muttered, kicking at the ground.

Jacob would shoot the woman an irritated look as soon as she made the insinuation that he didn't respect those above him. While he didn't like where his life had taken him, clearly, he wasn't going to take that sitting down. Especially if she were the type to try to spread that around to other Rockets. "Yeah, what makes you say that? Just because I approach my Pokemon differently from you, lady?", Jacob replied with the question, clearly hostile.

While the answer was clear, Emma would have to reveal herself to find out where he truly stood on the matter.

A Deino, hearing the commotion from the distance, rushed up to the two humans. The blind dragon would be spotted by the Pangoro, who would rush in behind her. The Deino would hear the Pangoro coming, and turn around, firing off a Dragon Pulse from her mouth at the lumbering panda. But because of her lack of sight, and the natural capability for a Pangoro to dodge attacks, Jack was able to easily maneuver himself to avoid the blast, before closing in for a Sky Uppercut.

The fist connected, sending the Deino flying, landing near Jacob's feet. With a final groan, the Deino, who miraculously survived the attack, passed out. Jacob took a look at her, before seeing Jack coming back to him. Giving the big guy a thumbs up, Jacob took out a vacant Pokeball, and tapped the Deino with it, hoping it'd stick.
