While pretty much stinking of motor oil (eww) he thought he heard a familiar squawk—

And then the long-awaited sigh of absolute relief escaped him as the ‘lone’… search party finally found him!

Worried avian aside (as the blue blur literally flew past Miss Elise and then began screaming in his direction) he would then realize just what was accompanying her, and…

“For your sake, Miss Elise, I hope you’ve at the very least… notified the higher-ups about them,” he would remark; a bit of his dry humor emerging at the sight of the Calyrex.

Boy, the ear-lashing he’d gotten for withholding the Stormbringer for so long… he did not want to relive that all over again, all things considered.

“Did… by the way, did Kyouya try to get you both lost?” he would ask her a few moments after he’d managed to calm down the screeching, blue-feathered Braviary; complete with a wry smile on his face.

Taking the cue from his companion, he would literally freeze up and go quiet (funny how these things happened) and observe as the Regirock… animated statue Pokémon would turn and stare at them (and their search party) with its multiple, biblically-accurate eyes flashing and blinking like they were warning lights.

“Guys, whatever you do,” he would quietly warn his search party members, “…I advise you all not to make a singular noise.”

The surprised scuffling would deaden down as the Regirock blinked and literally stared at all the humans it could see in the vicinity with its seven ‘flashing blinks’ for eyes; and it had gotten so quiet one could hear a pin drop from here.

“I guess… you were right after all,” he would quietly acknowledge Hideo; who had also gone deathly quiet as the Regirock would blink and flash a few more times, before slowly—very slowly, painfully—moving along and leaving all the humans that had just met it with a sense of quiet terror.

(And awe, but we don’t talk about that.)

“Funny how things happened,” he would remark once the danger had subsided.

“Hope that’s the last of these strange encounters we get,” he would add a few moments later.

It wouldn’t take too long before the sound of—what in the world was that—would cut him off before he could even have a chance to talk.

“What the hell is that?!” he would exclaim at the sight of the… the dinosaur-like Pokémon because what on earth?!

In moments he would have both his two best Pokémon out—the Braviary suddenly squawking with surprise at the sight of the ‘strange one’, but immediately lashing out with a Rock Slide while the Salamence was slightly faster to the party and rushed forward in a blinding blur of blue and red, jaws crackling with Thunder as he bared his Fangs in a biting maneuver!

This… this had to be a Water-type Pokémon… or a beast… or whatever, right?!

(Don’t be fooled by the color scheme! Sometimes, things were not as they seemed.)

While his Pokémon would handle the Walking Wake situation, he, on the other hand, would see something sparkling and immediately snatch it up and off the ground—only for the belated realization to sink in as he realized just what it was.

“Wha—whoa!” he would yelp as he recognized the Gimmighoul coin for what it was (hello Guillermo Marceliño).

He was literally the living embodiment of ‘make stupid choice, do stupid shit’ right now and was internally screaming at his stupidity. The good thing about this was that the noises had suddenly dropped off for the time being, so he was safe… for now.

Meanwhile, over where the Braviary was literally losing his head—

A flicker of movement would catch him off-guard as he saw the ‘dainty’ little human suddenly step forward and take the lead rather than him—panicking, silly little bird—and the littlest, tiniest squawk of relief came from the avian as he followed her.

Why had he lost his head like that?! Geez.

While the Tornadus was on ‘diversion’ duty (by funneling the Mist Ball barrage his way with the continuous Hurricane columns of air that would suck up the peppered, sprayed attack he would approach from a similar direction—

And he would blink the moment he realized just how Cian had quite literally hopped out of the Guzzlord’s mouth like it was nothing the moment they were close enough!

All this time, the Wandering Stormbringer would circle around the perimeter, continuously drawing the fire of the Mist Ball barrage by funneling it away from them with the Hurricane acting like some kind of redirecting funnel that would disperse the attacks safely above their heads—

“Wait, I have an idea.”

It was a far shot, but it would be worth the risk as he quickly summoned his Ribombee of all things—and immediately had to hold his hand out because she very nearly got blown away the moment she emerged from the beam of red light!

“Carina! Can you help?!” he would ask her over the howling high winds; the Trumbeak coming in for additional cover as the two other Pokémon flew as close as they could safely manage towards the Latias while the tiniest, sassiest Ribombee he owned would then attempt to use Aromatherapy on the legendary Pokémon in an attempt to relieve the discomfort it was going through.

Funny how these kinds of things tended to happen whenever he was…

You know.

Either way, fact of the matter was that there were extremely suspicious things happening right now the moment he saw the familiar, yet absolutely suspicious sentient mushroom Pokémon (look, Unovan native he was, fact of the matter was that anyone worth their Unovan salt would crack a smirk or two around the Amoonguss) he would pop out his blue-feathered Braviary to handle the situation from his battered, extremely scuffed Friend Ball.

And handle the situation he would by fantastically coming to the defense of some poor, wailing kid that was about to be ‘peppered’ into oblivion by a particularly-nasty looking ‘sus’ mushroom by using a last-second Aerial Ace while he himself came swooping in and carrying the child to safety, snotty, bratty tears aside!

All in a day’s work, wouldn’t you say?

The chittering Trumbeak recognized the other man and was about to chirp a greeting his way when several things happened all at once in the span of the next few seconds:

The other man had then clambered into the Guzzlord’s mouth (or at least that was how he saw it happening);
And said Guzzlord was now going on a fucking rampage!

“Well… guess that means discretion is out the window now,” he shrugged as he pulled the Cherish Ball he had with him out and in a flash of red light—

Out came the Wandering Stormbringer himself; Tornadus.

“Help,” he would quietly ask from the djinni; who took exactly one look at the Guzzlord and then gave him this ‘are you serious’ look before he pointed in the opposite direction; where the Latias was.

“Not that one, over there!” he would continue; and since it was already raining there would be no time wasted as a Hurricane-burst of wind was summoned from the skies and lobbed towards—

There was an incoming barrage of Mist Balls from the rampaging Latias; and the Hurricane burst would act as a shield to defend them from the incoming ranged attack!

Child of winter he was, and one blessed by the wind; but holy fucking shit the torrential tropical rain downpour made visibility rather difficult!

Thankfully, he was accompanied by a certain Trumbeak—the other man would recognize it once they were close enough.

“Cian?! Wait, I’m headed over there now!” he would yell, cupping his hands over his mouth as he leaned into the terrible downpour, fighting to stay upright because the winds were ripping everyone a good one!

He hoped that there was someone around who could change the weather out, because this did not look like any kind of normal early summer downpour.

The moment the nearby Weather Institute had sent out distress calls because there was something happening so close to Fortree—he knew he couldn’t just… ignore the APB.

There was a slight problem, though: the weather had also seemingly gone bonkers and there was a torrential downpour despite the surrounding areas being hot and sunny.

“Yikes,” was all he would have time for as he shouted to Guillermo Marceliño that he would be heading towards the Weather Institute to check out a disturbance so there was that.

In no time flat he would see… absolute, utter bedlam.

Wait, what was—

Was that a legendary Pokémon just going nuts?

And what were those chains—

He was actually on the way to a certain greenette’s birthday party (hi Shalin Nariya) when he decided to take a shortcut through the Rusturf Tunnel…

…only to realize he’d walked straight into a fucking nightmare out of one of those horror movies his partner loved to watch.

“Oh my god why are they flaying themselves—” he would hiss quietly before the belated realization hit him.

That some of the statues looked flayed, and had the hairs on the back of his neck all prickling before—

“Yeah, no, what the fuck is this?!” he would quietly screech, before the ugly, rolling feeling in his stomach would return.

Oh, come on! Not now! Not while he was headed over to—

He had to hold his breath while his Braviary flew ahead of him; fighting off the frenzied people who were acting all mesmerized that were trying to attack him.

This was getting really out of hand now!

Due to his panic, he didn’t realized his Braviary had smashed some of the statues closest to where he was fighting off the rabid, frenzied humans—

And oh my god, don’t get him started about the blood on the flayed, broken statues that were now rubble!

It just so happened that he’d stopped by Lavaridge to grab some Lava Cookies to bring back to Fortree when he saw…

“Oh, really?” he would remark, quickly stuffing the bags of cookies he’d already bought into the backpack he had with him before summoning his Gardevoir, Tatiana.

“Yes, I know,” he would sigh as the graceful Pokémon would recoil at the sight of all the poison, “…however we have a job to do, right? Let’s go.”

He would then head over to where people were being treated for dizziness due to the extreme toxicity of the air in the area; while his Gardevoir would use Heal Pulse on a wailing child who didn’t look so hot so they would feel better.

“Shh… I’m here now,” he would continue quietly, reassuring them that help was on the way while the Gardevoir got to work.

Came for the cookies, stayed for the healing! All in a day’s work for someone who was part of the Medical Corps, wouldn’t you say?

For one thing, the strange noise that sounded like a motorbike happened again, and then not too long after that the ground was shaking once more and all he could hear from his ear piece was fucking chaos.

“What the fuck is that?!”

“Beats me!”

That would be the extent of what he would understand because the rest of the noise would suddenly become panicked yelling and the sounds of running as he looked around in time to see that there—

There was a literal, big-ass golem Pokémon trundling their way! The thing that creeped him out about it were the… could he call those ‘eyes’?

(More like ‘biblically accurate eyes’ but we don’t talk about that!)

“D-don’t tell me you’ve encountered this one before?!” he would yelp as a Regirock (not that he knew what it was) would lumber into sight; as if searching for something.
