“Oh my god, you actually already have a name picked out for it, too?”

Truly, the depths people would go to for their favorites. He was too afraid to call the Tornadus he owned by any name other than its title (which those from northern Unova would be familiar with, himself one of those people) out of respect borderline reverence.

Once the merry-go-round came to a slow and then a stop, he hopped down from the Tornadus’s back like it was nothing.

That was a walk in the park, easy, he thought to himself as he hummed before getting another idea…

“You want to head over to the Drop Tower next?” he offered. Clearly with Fortree’s location, most of the crazier rides all had something to do with altitude; it was now a matter of trying to see who would chicken out and get airsick.

(Not him, of course, but nobody else needed to know about that, right?)

“Look, getting you to sign the special edition is huge already, in and on itself,” he remarked once he quirked his eyebrows into a smile when he saw the signature on the disc cover.

(Which reminded him, he would have to go hunt down Melody Miro’s latest thing, too. He could easily ask his friend to grab a signature for the stuff from Callan Young no biggie…)

“In fact… how many rides do you want to try today? I can take you on any which one you want to ride, I’ll cover your tickets for today should you need any more,” he offered. He wasn’t joking, this was a for reals-thing!

“How long?” he hummed, another wistful look crossing his face.

“We’ve only been together like what, a year, but it feels like much longer. I dunno, that’s what love does to you,” he continued, unable to keep the dreamy expression off his face as he found an unoccupied Altaria near the Milotic, and off they went!

“Well, he prefers to keep things low-key, however he’s the Ranger captain for Fortree, so if that means anything to you then yeah. Just his luck to have a Gym Leader,” he broke off to snort at the next words, “for a partner.”

Not boyfriend; but partner. That much already spoke volumes between the two of them.

“Naw, you weren’t interrupting anything too much,” he continued with such ease it was like breathing in and out. “In fact I cleared out today just for you so we can…”

He trailed off as he realized just how many rides were there. Maybe in hindsight it was right he did that so that they could take in at least one of everything—and then maybe determine which one was the best ride to be on!

“Well, if we’re going to be on the real spinny rides, won’t your ‘companion’ get airsick or something?” he added with this knowing grin on his face as he tilted his head in the Riolu’s direction.

“Can’t have the kid getting sick after all.”

There was this smirk on his face as he led the way toward the spinning section of the carnival. Geez, just how many rides did Johanna Joy have in that theme park of hers?!

(Of course, with an insanely high tolerance for being in the air, also came the little quirk of him never getting any kind of motion sickness at all. So it was just really a game of who would persevere throughout the day!)

If the next item was the exact same thing he’d gotten for the past five days now he would throw a fit.

Seriously, what was with him getting all the same thing/s several days in a row? Was this like some kind of message or something?!

“Sheesh,” he sighed as he snapped the goggles on and took a dive into the murky surf, one Wingul floatie hanging on from his left arm this time.

Please be at least something else that’s not a Pokéball… he thought to himself as he saw something shining and made to grab it.

‘Etiquette school’.

Those words made his skin crawl, if at least for a few moments.

“Holy shit. You had etiquette school?” he began, blinking a few times before he let the actual cringe flash across his face while his hands were busy flicking through files.

(For someone among the staff ~~Claire~~ had the balls to record both matches of the two he mentioned; hell, one of them was up on the Sanctuary’s Pokétube page…)

“Ah, here we go. Found little Josh’s highlight reel.”

He then flicked the file open and handed it to her to watch. Hilariously, he was flying with the very same Noivern that he would be using for her challenge once he got word that the outdoor obstacle course was—

‘We’re all ready,’ he heard Ethan’s voice over the in-ear he had on.

“The course is ready,” he continued. Rather than making their way through the inside, he led the way on the outside, skirting around the front building and looking up to see that the saddled Noivern was already following them.

“He brought his Skarmory, if memory serves me right. And out of all the obstacles, Josh Devlin was actually the very first one to get a score of zero out of the entire thing!”

Doing a quick headcount of the five… Pokémon they’d summoned, he wondered if they were going to make any headway—

Headway.

It didn’t take too long before one of the… strange things shook the earth, and—

“Wh—wha!” he yelled, almost landing on his ass had his Typhlosion not suddenly tried to steady his legs. “What the fuck is happening?!”

And right then and there—one of the giants took off, headed straight for the moon that had appeared in the sky…

“…I want to go there. Wait for me!” he yelled as he then took off at a running start, literally launching himself towards the ~~Kaguya~~ Celesteela that was now headed towards the moon that had appeared in the sky.

Uh-oh!

getting a head start on 29: ride one of the aforementioned large celesteela in prompt 28 to reach the large moon in the sky. here, a large gathering of celesteela can be found, ready to launch again, perhaps to new worlds. due to supernatural means, being on this moon may cause your characters to want to stay and remain in this realm instead of going back home.

“I am not losing this floatie, no!” he hissed as he hung onto the poor thing before cramming it up his right arm. Idly wondering where his partner had gone off to, he then took a dive into the murky waters.

Yes, he was literally down to one remaining Wingull floatie, and not much else.

If he lost this one then he would be fucking doomed, not to mentioned fucking screwed as well!

“Ugggggggggh,” he grumbled as he took a dip in the murky surf, still insisting on hanging onto the remaining floatie like a dice-possessed fiend.

(For lack of a better word: yes!)

Either way, he now hung onto the remaining Wingull floatie like a dice-obsessed gremlin, determined not to lose it because if and when both were irretrievably lost… then he would be doomed.

Doomed to dive, again, without any kind of support…

“Where can it be?!” he whined as he slowly, begrudgingly took another dip into the churning waves for today.

“You can call me Alex! And ‘Mr’ makes me feel way older than I already am, so… yeah. Or did you forget what I taught you about not talking like a royal when you’re around friends?”

There was this unreadable look on his face after he said those words. Anyway…

“You know, since you brought your own Noivern, it’s only fair I do the course with mine, too. Oh, have I told you?”

Unable to resist, he then led the way towards the outdoor arena behind the building, narrating the entire shebang of how Isaac Merlo had brought a Golurk for his non-trad challenge attempt and all the obstacles having to be blown up to excessively-huge sizes to accommodate the insanity.

“Oh, man, and don’t get me started on how the little Josh did with his challenge. It was… do you want to see the highlight reel?”

The moment he saw the Chatot, this unreadable grin flashed across his face—while he knew that his partner had a Chatot of his own (and was hilariously named… Frollo, of all things) and he had his own bitchy Chatot as well (unfortunately the Toucannon Armada™ really took the cake) this one had the balls to claim they were the best.

Really now?

“Hmm…” he thought, looking up at his now-calm passenger. “Well, do you want to tell them anything?”

“Get me a Skitty balloon!” she began, petulant frown on her face. “I’ll know where they are when they get me that balloon! And it can’t just be the normal pink Skitty, it’s gotta be the shiny version of Skitty!”

Oh, ~~dear~~ deer. Did he have a brat on his hands?!

He couldn’t help but chuckle.

“You know, giving the Chatot some help would be nice, too,” he gently chided her, watching as her face turned red before babbling off what her parents looked like, all embarrassed.

The other Wignull floatie was still nowhere to be found.

He was in ‘righteous panic’ mode at this point. How was he going to go diving if he only had one floatie and not two?! Wouldn’t the other plastic Wingull get lonely?!

Anyway…

“Help me find the other floatie later, please?” he begged his ~~boyfriend~~ partner as he took a nervous look at the churning surf—and decided to dive down even if he only had one floatie on his arm remaining.

What would he retrieve today, he wondered.

“One sec,” he went on as he then began rummaging through his jacket, trying to remember which pocket he put the recently-purchased CD in.

(Yes, even in this day and age where digital streaming was the norm, it didn’t hurt to release physical copies of an album, right? For the collectors?)

“Aha, found it,” he remarked as he pulled out a thin package—a disc featuring his current companion’s latest music release.

“You have… no idea how long I had to wait in line for this. I had to get the special edition, because it’s for my boyfriend’s birthday on the twenty-sixth—”

Okay, Alex, you’re rambling again!

“Can you make the dedication to Memo?” he continued; this hot blush rising on his face.

His gift to his boyfriend last year was that magical word, now he was hoping to at least top or make this year’s birthday better than the last.

(But then again, how could you top a birthday present where you agreed to be his partner for life?!)

The moment he saw the next name on the challenger’s lineup, he had an inkling this was also going to be one for the history books.

What made him even more excited for this was that she’d chosen the—

“Yes!” he cheered to himself quietly as he gathered the staff that weren’t too busy to have them get the course outside set up.

He’d already seen the arrival of the Noivern on the CCTV cameras, and knew that he was going to ride Fenrir for this—he would just have to give her the tour towards the outside.

“Hello Miss Elise,” he began as he met her right at the entrance and unable to conceal his excitement. “You have no idea how hype I am to receive your challenge today.”

(Much as he wanted to mention that Amor Rose had come by previously for a badge challenge, he decided not to—at least for the moment. Manners, and all.)

“So obviously you’re bringing Minerva for today, right?”
