the kiss on the cheek instead of the lips is observed, but instead of taking it any other way, priam reaches deep in his bank of optimism and makes an excuse for bryan.

"aw, that's so pure of you!" he teases. he pulls bryan by the chin and plants his own over his lips. "when did ya get so cute?"

and priam, more forward.

he leans back on the edge of the pool, propping himself up by the elbows, as he stares at bryan. he scoots over, making room as a gesture in case it wasn't clear enough.

"it's only been like a few hours, bry." he gets him though. "what's wrong? you don't look relieved."

priam rubs the sides of his arms as he enters the simulation.

"this is creepy," he comments to theo beside him. "kinda makes you feel like our expeditions to ultra deep sea, right?"

the feeling of being drawn to the pull was nothing but new to priam. during their trips, it was always him that gets enticed by the environment to go against his nature, luring him deep. up to this point, he still couldn't tell if it was just a personality trait of his that makes him vulnerable to its influence or if it had been the mark imprinted on him.

his phone has been shoved deep into his pockets, not wanting to listen to the weird static it emits.

"i don't like it here. i know it's a simulation and all, but i'm sure we already have other people trying out what happens if you give in to the pull."

he definitely would have been down to fight the unknown in the darkness, but not after personal experience in the depths of ultra deep sea.

priam conrad and felix gallagher. it's a weird combination that shouldn't work in theory, but priam finds himself oddly comfortable in his presence. perhaps it was because he doesn't hog the spotlight so he can take it.

"make a wish," he tells felix. "i think that's a star."

a wishing star to be exact, but priam can't tell how he could say it.

unironically, he clasps his hands and recites a silent prayer in his head. priam does it for fun, with little hopes that the wish would actually come true.

he turns to the admin, tilting his head to the side as he offers him the choice on how to proceed. "i've already ran this event with someone else before, so you can decide what ya wanna do this time!"

ultimately, it shouldn't matter since with the number of rockets running the simulation, each possibility would be accounted for. at this point, it was just a matter of reliving the experience.

the desert held a special place in priam's heart. adventures with previous rocket beast turned head scientist clayton to explore the ruins that almost killed him and underboss cillian still felt fresh in his memory.

to see the start of the construction of it in the simulation surely felt surreal when he's living the moment.

"this seems nostalgic," priam comments as the worker shows them the star. "it almost makes me want to make wristbands or somethin' outta this."

it's a passing comment that makes priam wonder if it had been part of his daydreams or if it's part of the sea of insight he's had access to after the trip to the tomb of route 120.

he steps forward to look at it more closely as he finds himself surprisingly comfortable around its presence. for a moment, he's willing to bet that the rocket beast with him felt the same.

"your call on what we do with this, boss." does zev like being called boss?

it certainly was a new term they just stumbled upon on, unheard of from every circle he knows that exists on hoenn. it wasn't even something that was heard of in the most niche of urban legends.

minus the murmuring that was him burning the name of the organization into memory, he remains composed.

a smirk naturally shows his confidence in his response. "hell yeah, we are."

his eyes meet cillian's. there's a difference in their temperament, and as much as he's certain that the underboss was playing it safe, priam steers the narrative into motion.

this was a simulation. it's alright to take risks.

"we sought the organization out for answers. i ask for entry, if it's possible."

professional phrasing reeks out of priam's uncouth mouth, perhaps forged by exposure to similar mannerisms for the longest time— twenty years to be exact.

priam gladly wears his sygna suit within the weird environment. the lands looked desolate and it felt so eerie that ultra deep sea felt less scary in comparison just because that location had something going on.

the borders just felt like a wasteland.

eyes tries to spot for anything in the horizon as a place of interest, but nothing much appears on the horizon. as far as he knows, they're just random mountains dotted all over the place.

"so, what's the plan here, guys?" he asks his companions. "do we just go to one direction and hope we hit somethin'? that sounds excited, to be honest."

he arrives at the place with the two other people he had visited the mechanical kingdom with. their dynamic left much to be desired, but priam finds enjoyment in everything regardless.

"well, that's not so bad for this world either." not being friendly that is. "gotta keep up that exterior, y'know. something about self-defense mechanism and shit, i dunno psychology."

there was a reason why other members of rocket were cold and distant. there was less to target when they don't present themselves as vulnerable, after all.

not priam though.

"me? heh, i'm just that good that i don't need to worry 'bout all that stuff!" he huffs with pride following his claim. "ya better be good if y'er in rocket. just between you and me, the higher ups get pretty judgey with incompetent grunts. you didn't hear that from me, though!"

he looks down at his gabite, who had been patiently waiting. priam gives him a quick scratch on the head before turning back to sage.

"ya sure you don't have any actual questions? cause i wouldn't want to hold you up on your workout."

immediately after getting home, priam had decided to rush straight to the rocket's baths, getting himself soaked in an effort to alleviate the pain and stress away.

it felt like he did much when he didn't on retrospect. all they did was attack the beast, and suddenly, they were coming out of the cave. he heard those ruinous beasts affect the heart in ways they haven't imagined, and priam prematurely puts the blame on them.

he hears the door handles shift and the entrance open.

"hey!" he calls out as soon as he sees the person coming in. "sorry i didn't wait for ya. i wasn't feelin' right earlier, but i'm fine now! how're ya doin'?"

priam sent him a message earlier to invite him to rocket's communal baths as soon as he realized it. they needed to anyways, especially since they did get caught by the rain on the way out.

in a way, it's nostalgic. the hot springs are where they first got their first real interaction after all.

"tada! i got myself transferred to you."

from one scientist to another, priam brings to put his skills to use by aiding rocket's scientists, one era after the other.

he had taken a break from helping out with the labs after the scuffle with the league at ultra deep sea, using the recent departure of the previous head scientist as a reason. this time, he's back on the scene.

"the remote site just gave us a clear to bring this here, so here ya go."

a protective box containing the radiant seed retrieved from the previous expedition was placed on one of the tables of the labs. it was sealed to the core, requiring both analog and digital locks to open, with sturdy metal plating to protect it from outside elements.

"d'ya still want an introduction or sumthin' from me? i think that's the protocol."
