[attr="class","light"]her interpretation of battling was different from his. sure, it was like an argument. there was no wrong answer to what battling was like for them, but to mateo it was like...talking with fists? "there's more to it than just that, ." being 's sister, he thought she'd at least know that much.

"and mega evolution isn't something you can just add into a strategy, it's something..." he'd place his hand beneath his chin. thinking hard on what it is he wanted to say, "...it's like a trump card. if someone's beating you in an argument, then just get loud and hit'em with your fist!" he'd smash his fist into the palm of his hand. a bit of a violent take, but that was the best way he can put it. "or, i guess, maybe it's more like you droppin' a huge fact bomb on them?" that's probably a better way to put.

"anyway, you just need someone to help you out. and," he was gonna hate this next part, "if your brother can't do it. i can help you, you just gotta ask." he'd then go behind the gym assistant's desk. thankfully it was empty at this time. he'd pull out a piece of paper and would hand over his phone number to . "just give me a ring whenever!"

[attr="class","light"]oh that's right. "i forgot, infernape's a dual-type!" so it should have some fighting under its belt. then again, none of that mattered like they said. "infernape's a good pokemon to fight against, i've fought some that's definitely given my dragons a run for their money back in johto." they were force of nature, especially when the trainer was no different.

the battle ensued. they fought for sometime, it was evenly matched. regardless of the typing both pokemon were well-trained by their aces. "oh! are they gonna clash right here, right now!?" mateo stood from his seat. "he's going with 'skull bash' and the infernape..." mateo would look over, "he's planning to counter with 'focus punch'!" as the rhydon lunged forward, infernape would release a powerful punch enhanced by the ability of iron fist.

an explosive force of air would cause a cloud of dust to form. as it slowly cleared, the winner for this round was infernape. though, simultaneously, did it fall over right after. leaving both with only two pokemon left. "that was only the first battle and it's already intense, ah man!" mateo would cling to , shaking him back and forth.

"i wanna join, i wanna join! this is so cool!"

[attr="class","light"]maybe there was more to yui than he thought. he'd come to lean against the wall next to the bench she sat on. one leg propped up, his hands pocketed, and his back against the stark wall. mateo would remain facing forward, though his eyes silently drifted to his peripheral vision; gazing upon yui as she spoke of her own shortcomings.

"that so?" he responded within a nonchalant tone; mateo continued to listen. she would probably find a friend in kyle, considering he liked games and all. he'd have to introduce them sometime. "z-moves and mega evolutions are played out anyway," hands now placing themselves behind his head, "you just need to know how to battle. sure a mega or a z-move can help shift the tide, but as long as you keep at it you'll get there." besides, z-moves and mega evolutions required trust.

"considerin' you're a former (?) shut-in, battling should come natural to you though?" didn't it run in their family? "it's no different from all that computer stuff. you got a master's degree for a reason, ain't that suppose to say somethin' about your brains?" maybe it was wrong to judge a book by its cover. hopefully what he just said didn't take a hit on her pride.

[attr="class","light"]after his recklessness mateo would run into hug his friend. a hand placed around the brunette's head and an arm tightly around his back. with all his muscle mateo would bring the guy in. "can you leave the reckless shit to me, you idjit!" that was dangerous, way to dangerous even for him.

"seriously, you could've gotten yourself killed!" he wasn't gonna let him hear the end of it. no way was kyle gonna get off the hook with this one. for now, they would head out to alert those in charge of what occurred. all while mateo would continue barking at kyle with his words.

"sorry," he shouted with a quick response. he'd return garchomp without warning and would come to jump upon the pillar had just left. simultaneously, he'd call out for LUCARIO this time. "carry me and copy her!" as mateo would hop upon lucario's back, they would follow 's dragapult; mimicking their phantom force just the same.

note: sabotaging

- swaps garchomp out for lucario.
- lucario carries mateo on back.
- lucario uses copycat in order to use phantom force and match katherine's rhythm.

- used 2 salac berries; third is for sabotage and fourth is for obstacle.

[attr="class","light"]while kyle led the charge. mateo would come to stop to find a shrine priestess unconcious in the other room. "i found someone!" he'd let out a slight cough. grabbing hold of the woman, he'd drag her out.

"good job, garchomp." he'd look to see if kyle had returned yet. "oi, hurry up and get out of there, kyle!" mateo would call out to him. was he struggling to get someone out? did he need to go back in? for now he wasn't sure. even so, mateo had enough faith in his partner that he would find a way out.

"by the way, i'm no longer an elite four member anymore." that was a thing of the past. "some personal stuff happened, so i'm sort of on a sabbatical." so there was no need to keep up with that title. "anyway, back to you, so you are a silph! you just have the brain, but not the skill?" he wish he had half a brain to code. he could barely play videogames. "you must great at videogames then?"
