"the hell, that bastard owes me!" the dragon tamer growled. so this was what it felt like to be stood up. "that damn point dexter is on my shit list..." it was then Yui Fujin Silph would once more question the dragon tamer.

looking back, he'd say, "the hell's our business got anythin' to do with you, gremlin?" mateo retorted. why exactly was she here? "fine, you answer my question and i'll answers your pipsqueak." he'd lean, returning a smug to the pigtailed blonde, "the hell are you doin' in his gym? shouldn't you be in school or somethin'? i doubt even that guy would let a relative hang around his workplace." if he knew anything about 'nando? that guy was a stickler through and through.

[attr="class","light"]trailing behind kyle lopez. with a stick in his mouth he'd respond, "always!" finishing his meal, he'd spit it out. "i'm takin' lead, gyarados let's go!" reaching into his top's open slit, he'd call out his trusted water-type. before he was to send his water-type out, he'd pause. "gyarados, we need to contain the fire. try to keep it from spreading!"

with its order given, he'd look to kyle. "can't you send in arcanine to check?" it should have the ability to travel through fire without worry. "we can worry about the perps after!"

[attr="class","light"]"we're ramming through, let it rip garchomp!" he'd issue the same order as last. mateo's goal was to attempt a speedy DRAGON RUSH, but this time with the a powerful force known as GIGA IMPACT. he wanted to smash anything that stood in his path. whatever the obstacle that may ( or may not? ) have stood before him, with enough propulsion and force, garchomp wasn't going to let up just yet.

[attr="class","light"]cerulean orbs would stare at the woman. a piercing look would zoom into the female's own gaze. "i see," he responded. something about that statement sounded...sad. he wasn't sure how to put it, and he was probably imaging things. regardless, he'd give a small smile in return to Selena Desmarais.

"it'd suck if you left, hoenn. i think it'd be hard to replace someone like you!" he was only saying that to support her. he didn't exactly know her personally, but it was always nice to receive some for of acknowledgement for those who take on hard task. "being a gym leader's no easy feat, you were chosen for a reason. so i can tell your skills are definitely a necessity."

[attr="class","light"]"ah!" he uttered with a look of disgust. "beat it pipsqueak-idjit!" he wasn't the person she wanted to see. pointing the opposite direction, he'd show her the way out. "you're the last person i wanna see, the hell are you doin' here?" the pain in his ass was practically tied to him at this rate. the last thing he needed was another knucklehead in his life.

he had too many as is. "i'm lookin' for your brother, not the 'mistake' of the family," mateo called. a taunting smile worn as he impishly grinned at the end of his statement. "is it bring your baby sister to work day, eh? eh?" he'd lean in, nudging the air with his incessant poke.

[attr="class","light"]standing outside of fernando's gym. he'd continue to buzz the door while awaiting for someone to answer. he was bored, it showed on his expression. he continued to childishly ring the bell for an assistant or someone to come out and greet him. unaware to the fact that he wasn't taking any challenge for today.

but he didn't choose to read the sign on the door. so he'd keep buzzing until someone came out. little did he know that someone would be a familiar face in the crowd.

[attr="class","light"]Selena Desmarais would approach mateo, wanting to exchange gifts. he'd look to the woman, bashful might i add. he'd hand her the feminine gift without question. "s-sure, whatever." and would take Yui Fujin Silph's poorly wrapped gift. he'd stare at the item with disdain though.

"who the hell wrapped this? a kindergartener?" he was highly unpleased by his gift. he sort of wanted the nice box back. at least that smelled good.

[attr="class","light"]confidence had been what he lacked, but it was mainly his trauma that ensnared it. he'd look down only to look back up, repeating, "a battle?" his hand tightly balled into a fist. he'd bite his lip, unsure of whether he was up for the challenge.

he'd look to sceptile and dragonite. cerulean hues narrowed as he contemplated it. he wasn't sure if he was up for it, he wasn't sure if they were up for it.

"i..."

sceptile stood up. dragonite following in pursuit. the pair ready to take on the world, but what of their trainer? "y-yeah, let's do it." his challenge was accepted, now how would they fair?



"i lost." sceptile and dragonite were unconscious, but awoke moments after. wiping off the wound, they stood with a smile on their face. "we lost..." for a brief moment he wore a disheartened look, but quickly that would turn around. his frown becoming a smile, "we may have lost today, but there's always a tomorrow." that's what they wanted mateo to understand from this battle.

"the both of you understand how i feel," he'd bite his lip, "how could i be so stupid." the dragon master, for once, broke before his pokemon. reverting back to the young child he once had been. a child who could do nothing but cry. "i'm sorry for how i've been acting," he'd lean in to grab the two of them. hugging them both as though they were brothers. "this battle was what we needed, this is how we understand each other."

releasing them, he'd look to Kazimir Wynter, "i couldn't have seen the answer without your help." wiping his tears, he'd look to ask, "by the way, what's your name?"

note: so because i'm lazy and don't really have the energy to write combat, i just went ahead and acted as if we did the battle. mateo lost and kazimir won, i hope that's okay! i owe you a proper battle thread next time. D: i just lazy and tend to zone out of combat these days. >__<

[attr="class","light"]a twitch in his brow was enough to signal kyle lopez his annoyance toward that statement of wanting to watch. sitting back down, he'd look straight ahead. "sceptile's special 'cause i say so!" that's right, he can't ever let his pokemon down like that again. he was finally out of that funk, and he wasn't going to allow himself to ever go back there again.

"but yeah, come cheer me on when i crush it! we've got a special attack just waitin' in the wings, idjit!" a thumbs-up was shown, winking toward FERNANDO SILPH with a beaming grin. "yahoo, yahoo!" he was excited about the future rematch. "i won't lose this t---hoh!" he'd look over to find the match tournament was about to start.

"it's a three on three match! this should be good!" the first trainer brought out a rhydon, whereas the other an infernape. "that's a total bad match up, the hell's he thinkin'?"
