Watching the young pokemon fight, Noelle couldn't help but smile. Honestly, the young bagon reminded her a lot of her own troublemaker, the 'scourge' of the Dragon Den, as a few of her elders liked to call him. The deino she possessed, just like Vy, had plenty of growing to do. But, the pinkette was excited to see the end results; the amount of potential both young ones possessed was immense. When the fearsome battle ended with the smaller dragon as victorious, Noelle smiled, clasping her hands together and smiling widely. "I knew you could do it - I told you you could!" She giggled with an enthusiastic nod.

"Oh! Hold on, I got someone that'll help - Peach!" A flash of light, and a pink, soft blob of a chansey appeared, hurriedly making her way over to them both. "Use Heal Pulse on Vy please." Peach nodded eagerly, smiling up at both Morgan and his fearsome little dragon. Hands lighting up in a soft, healing green light as she touched the bagon's head. Immediately, most of the pokemon's major wounds were gone with the blink of an eye.

It seemed all the commotion had caused a poliwhirl to stir from the vast pool of water. Oddly enough, the moment it emerged from the lakeside, looking ready to enter the brawl, the sound of rain just outside the vast caver of Meteor Falls could be heard. Was it raining outside? Staring at the ready-to-go water type, the pinkette abruptly decided that yea - she wanted this one. "Peach, do you think-" Before she could even attempt to ask the chansey if she could hold her own in a quick battle, the normal type was...gone. No, really, she'd returned herself to her pokeball. "Ah, right. I forgot, she gets super nervous about battling." Noelle giggled softly.

"Oh! How about uhm..." With a touch of her fingers to one of the pokeballs on her hip, her deino appeared, shaking himself off with a little, moody huff. Spotting the aggressive water type, Nero immediately got defensive, his nostrils flaring in a little huff as a growl emitted from his throat. "Yes, yes, we know you're scary," Noelle tsked, "I need you to actually listen to me though, Nero. Do you get that?" The deino let out a very loud, complaining grumble, but, obliged.

"Make the first move with a dragon rush," the tamer commanded, and he, surprisingly, listened. Blue aura alighting the dark dragon, he charged forward, tackling into the poliwhirl in a sudden rush of draconic energy that sent it flying backwards. However, the poliwhirl soon retaliated with a rather empowered hydro pump. Even if it wasn't very effective, the strengthened torrent of water being shot from so close managed to bring the deino to his knees, if just briefly. That...wasn't good. She had to end this, quickly too..Ah...what would Mateo or Adam do? She had to battle smart, not just throw moves back and forth. "Uhm...ah...It'd be dangerous to get close with that hydro pump...and we're in a cave so..." A mud bomb was abruptly launched, with nero barely managing to avoid it. he gave an impatient snarl towards noelle, who perked up. "Right, right, in the middle of a battle - ah, sorry! uhm...we're...in a cave..in...oh! use hyper voice - and, morgan, cover your ears!"

The inside of nero's mouth glowed a bright white. Abruptly, a large shockwave shot from out of it - the moment it came into contact with an object, said attack exploded. enhanced by the enclosed area of the cavern walls, the noise was amplified as it echoed, causing it to be...well, devastating when it finally came into contact with its target. when the dirt and dust cleared, the poliwhirl lie there on the ground, defeated. tossing a pokeball out at the pokemon, noelle clasped her hands together with a bright smile. "good job, nero!"

"Really? But they're so well trained too. If I get a dog pokemon, you've got to give me some tips." Oblivious to his unease, the pinkette continued. She did mean what she said though. Just like she and the rest of her clan were dragon tamers, Kyle might've well been the leader of his own clan of dog tamers; he was among some of the best she'd seen!

his bluntness towards her question was met with a soft, 'oh'. death wasn't something she was unused to or anything, communing with their spectral ancestors was one of the roles of a priestess after all. still, it was always a grim reminder that life could so easily be snatched away from someone, even if it was as simple as a bike trip up the mountain. it was a bit...scary, in all honesty.

"i hope so." noelle answered honestly. "they probably have someone who really wants for them to come home. i want to make that person happy. what better surprise then having a lost loved one returned to you, right?" she idly chatted with him, following after him as his mightyena began to move a bit faster, minding not to trip over the rougher terrain.

"so...you've seen a lot of dead bodies before then? did you ever feel sad? or grossed out? or scared?"

"Okay annddd....there we go. Perfect." The pinkette hummed as she finished packing everything she needed for this sudden job request. Unlike her soon-to-be partner, the thought of using violence to get the giant pokemon to move hadn't crossed her mind, hence why she brought along a small bag filled with various treats and snacks. If there was one thing a snorlax couldn't resist, it was food. And one as big as this was bound to be starving, right?

Finally ready to set out and tackle the task, she left the little Inn she'd booked for herself in favor of heading towards where the problem was sourced. It didn't take long to see the massive shape of the hefty pokemon, blocking up the road as though it owned it. There, she also saw someone unfamiliar to her; perhaps her partner?

Noelle offered them a wave, her lips curling into an eager smile. Although, the moment she approached, she could've sworn...yes, there was something about this guy...It was almost familiar? It made her blood feel a bit hot, but, in alarm more so than anger. It wasn't as though he unsettled her, she was just...having the faintest hint of deja vu?

Realizing she was staring at him without saying a word, she soon cleared her throat. "Uh - hi! I'm assuming you took the request too, right?" She looked back over to the slumbering beast, letting out a little hum. "Well, no worries! I got this one in the bag - like, this'll be totally easy-peasy!" She settled down onto her knees, beginning to take out the container from the bag she'd brought with her.

"Oh - I'm Noelle, by the way."

"Oh...yea, they look pretty mad. Uh oh." The pinkette ducked as a rock went whirling past her head. Outside the rusted gates of the abandoned power plant, a small crowd of people with signs protested, refuting the decision made by the city to put the power plant in use. Whilst Noelle could understand their sentiment for the wild pokemon to some degree, it wasn't as though they weren't going to put the place into good use. It'd be for the betterment of the city - it was a necessary evil.

But, between the angry electric types and people, perhaps she was a little bit too over her head for this sort of thing. She'd already had a voltorb explode in her face after trying to, kindly, ask it to leave. Wasn't she supposed to have a partner for all of this? Had they flaked out on her? Honestly, she wouldn't blame them. This job sucked.

Rounding the corner within the eerie plant, she blinked as she spotted someone; Lucas Lane . How did some random civilian get in here? Didn't the city lock the gate to prevent people from trespassing? She sighed, approaching the man with a friendly, if not slightly exasperated, little wave.

"Oh, uhm! Sorry, you can't be here - some constructions going on and blah blah blah. Long story short, it's dangerous. Sssooo if you could just..." She didn't want to blatantly tell them to leave but...yeah, they kinda needed to go. Like, now. And while she could've forcibly dragged him out if he were one of those 'pokerights' people, she really didn't want to.

As she wandered about, the girl suddenly saw a...ivysaur? What was an ivysaur doing here, in the midst of such a trashy part of the town? It was primarily a grass type - environments like this weren't healthy for one if it wasn't taken care of. Which certainly explained the poor creature's sorry state. It lacked the vibrant colors it should've had, whilst the blooming bulb upon its back seemed almost wilted. A lack of proper nutrients and water, perhaps the polluted soils of this slummy area had only aided in its decline to its sickened state. She was no nurse joy, nor was she as good in the art of healing as someone like Bryony, for example...but, being tasked with the protection of the Dragon Den, she did know more than the average about a pokemon's health. Granted, it catered more towards the 'rough and tumble' dragons, but, this shouldn't be too hard?

The ivysaur stared at her with sheer apprehension and disdain from where it stood, lapping water out of a dirty puddle. Noelle squatted, smiling as she held out a hand. "You look like you're in pretty bad shape, friend. What about some fresh water instead?" She shuffled around and through a small pack she'd brought. Typically, it was full of snacks but...aha! From it, she pulled out a bottle of water, showing it to the wary wild pokemon. "See? Nothing bad, just some good, regular-degular ol' water!" She enthusiastically said, showing off the beverage in various, slightly weird, poses. The ivysaur hesitated, but, eventually crept forward, allowing the girl to pour water not only into its mouth, but the bulb upon its back. Already, the grass/poison type seemed to lighten up a bit. From then, she began to idly feed it the various snacks she'd brought along - it seemed to favor the Dragon Pops, much to her delight.

"How about you come with me? Living here must be pretty bad, right? And you must be pretty hungry. I have tonnnsss of good stuff to eat back at home - way better than these little snacks I have now. We can get you back to being in tip top shape in no time! Plus, we'll have fun all the while." She took out a pokeball, allowing for the pokemon to make its decision.

the sudden pluck to the forehead was more than enough to snap the girl from her internal trance, as, with a jolt, she stared up at him. annoying? when wasn't she annoying to hi-

"C-cute?" noelle choked out, feeling her heartbeat suddenly speed up as color rushed to her face. she couldn't really remember the last time he'd called her cute or anything to her face. was this...a dream? was she dreaming? "m-mateo..." before she could continue though, he ruined it, thoroughly and utterly. twitching slightly, a rather scary, wide smile curled onto her lips. "a female machoke, huh?" she hummed, slowly beginning to stand.

leaning over the banister, she'd call out to the playing children down below, "hey, kids! who wants to see how far i can make big brother 'teo fly?" sweet and as cheerful as could be, she looked back at mateo with a gleeful giggle. "i'll give you a five second head start this time! i hope you've gotten faster over the years, mateo!"

as irritated as she wanted to seem though, internally, she was happy - really happy. not just because he called her cute, even if that was a big part of the reason why, but, she was just....happy that he cared.

Perhaps it was life's way of getting back at him for bad mouthing 'family' but....yeah, he was knocked out good and cold. That...wasn't her intention, in all honesty. She didn't mean to put that much force behind her throw but. She did. And they were here now. Wherever 'here' was.

Squatting by his side, she tsked when she realized that, yep, he was out like a light. This situation would've been funny if she hadn't realized that he was going to be pissed when he woke up...which was a headache all in its own. Whipping out her phone, she began to call @bryony . Not only could the woman make sure Mateo was fine with her knowledge in medicine and stuff, but, her being there meant the 'yell fest' she received from him later would be...less yell-y. Thankfully, shaved ice wasn't all that hard to make alone too, otherwise she'd be screwed too.

Poking at Mateo's cheek with a finger and realizing how cute he'd look if she drew on his face with a marker, her devious thoughts were paused when her call was picked up. "Okayyyy...so...you have to promise me you won't be mad. Or do that disappointed sigh thing, but..."

there was something about being briefly forgotten about in the midst of a psyduck that was mildly irritating. like - really. really mateo? and so, one could definitely believe the the pinkette continued to sit there, refusing to help herself up...likely internally pouting, or something. she did quirk a brow though at the mention of bryony. "she's never mentioned a psyduck before. are you sure?" she tilted her head in slight confusion. what would she do with a psyduck? they needed constant attention due to their headaches, right? wasn't it hard enough dealing with her own sickness - what would bry do with a psyduck? but, the pinkette didn't push the question any further.

finally, she was helped back onto her feet, and a small 'thank you,' was muttered from her lips as she otherwise enjoyed their nearness. rarely did he allow her to even get this close for once reason or another. "you'd carry me if i twisted my ankle!?" she gaped slightly. she'd...have to remember that for 'later use'. before she could continue on though with some likely ludicrous plan or idea, something caught her eye in one of the nearby lakes.

oh, a feebas! she'd been looking for one of these! believing the fish would be an easy, perfect little capture, she was sorely mistaken. the moment she bent to try and tap a pokeball to it, she was met with a bout of fierce splashing in the form of a splash attack. both her and her blastoise exchanged a look as the feebas defiantly glared at them. "hey, argos. do something." the blastoise gave her a confused look.

"I...I don't know? Just make it...y'know, feel a bit of dignity for its defeat?" Argos exchanged a look with her that seemed borderline exasperated, but, the turtle eventually gave in. Canons pointed towards the sassy feebas, a tiny, pathetic hydro pump was enough to stop its useless splash attack and successfully knock it out. with that, the woman touched a pokeball to it, gleefully attempting to capture the fish.

a flash of red soon caught her eye...was that a magikarp? unlike most, who saw the red fish as nothing more than useless or weak annoyances, noelle was absolutely enthralled with it. bending by one of the lakes edge as the useless fish poked its head from the surface, she couldn't help but coo out at it. "mateo! isn't it so cute? gah, they're so cute," she gushed, stroking the fish's head a few times with a hand. it tried to dumbly eat her hand, believing it was food but, she didn't mind much.

"He's weird." Noelle agreed without missing a heartbeat. Why her fiance- er, Mateo loved to hang out on isolated places like these was beyond her. She supposed she could, to some degree, understood where he was coming from due to her own love of pure, unaltered wilderness but, still. "That'd be an interesting job request though, you think? And we'd be getting paid for it too." She gave a 'devilish' grin followed by a small, ominous, 'hehe'. Of course, she truly didn't wish any harm to befall the man. Even if he irritated her deeply at times.

mateo aside though, seeing kyle and his dogs in action surely was...something. already, they'd covered so much ground, far more than most would with the aid of his specially trained canine unit. could she train her own dragons to do such a thing? most would likely be too proud to do so...but, a highly predatory species like a garchomp seemed like it'd make a fantastic tracker.

as they traversed higher in the mountain, she found it both harder to breath as well as a bit colder and harder to see. and so, she released odessa from her pokeball. not only to provide a beckoning light with the strong, blue glow of the orb on her beck, but, to provide a perfect and quick save with her 'rope-like', aka serpentine and long, body should one of them trip and fall. his question, however, caught noelle off guard.

"huh? well, it's not so much the investigation as it is you. i didn't think you did...much." wait, that came out wrong. "n-not like you were a bum or anything, just i wasn't...sure what you..." she trailed off, clearing her throat once more. "anyway, i'm impressed with what i've seen! your mightyena are something fierce! playing hide and seek with you would be impossible as long as they're around!" she clasped her hands together, giggling slightly.

"hey, hey - do you...think this person's alive? i know i promised i wouldn't slow you down or anything but...dead bodies are kinda..." gross? scary? horrifying? gross?

his answer didn't exactly surprise her...but, that still didn't take away the slight wince she gave from hearing it. he had a point, but...ah, well, she had a duty to do; a job to uphold. sure, someone else in the clan could do it, but, she was heir for a reason - as was he. it seemed...wrong to so easily stray from such things.

his question was met with a blink and a frantic head shake. "so soon? without you? absolutely not!" the girl gave a dramatic huff. she was enjoying the air of freedom that came from truly being 'away' from home and in a totally different and new region, despite how chaotic said region was.

"i just..." a rare, quieter tone had taken over her voice, "you're in the elite four of this region. you've made such a name for yourself here and...it's amazing! i'm so happy and proud for you," a small, fond smile curled on her lips as she looked down at her hands, perhaps in shy awe. "i'm not really sure what i'd do here. tending to the clan and its traditions have always been what i've done." when her grandmother eventually passed, it would be up to her to continue her role as priestess and protector of the den. her father could only do so much; the role was her birthright.

"i'll eventually have to go back. eventually," she emphasized the 'eventually' part, "plus bry...i don't want her to stay away from home for too long given...y'know. how she is. i couldn't leave her back at home alone. it was hard enough when you and chance left." she paused, adding in a far quieter voice, "i don't really...want to leave you. not again. not anytime soon, at least."

quickly, realizing how oddly serious, if not pessimistic the conversation had became noelle shook her head. "but, that's the future! i guess we should worry about it in...well, y'know, the future! right?" she smiled widely, letting out a little laugh.
