The evening sun barely hovered in the sky, casting a darker shade of gloom on the route as night approached. Circe hadn't meant to stay out all day, however the scientist had simply been too engrossed in a recent project. A prototype of some sort for the power suppression and controller she'd been working on. With blueprints created and data studied, field experiments and trials were a must. Of course, using it on stronger beings like they planned to right off the bat would be...idiotic.

And so, the former doctor experimented with wild pokemon first. With her absol taunting them into a blind fury to mimic the aggressiveness of the pokemon they'd be dealing with, she tested the results of the prototype and recorded them, noting each failure and success, with detailed notes and numbers. It took the whole day, unfortunately, but the data she collected was otherwise invaluable.

Satisfied with the progress made, she took her leave. Although, with the encroaching darkness, it was...a bit difficult to navigate through the winding terrain to the next town over. More than she anticipated, honestly. The woman tsked in irritation, eyes narrowing in attempt to make out the eroded path through thick shrubbery.

The area was infamous for the ghosts that often haunted the area at night, making it for a more annoying experience altogether. Her carelessness grated at her short patience.

As she moved forward, she faintly grew aware of a commotion nearby - and though she otherwise ignored it, a walk along the path through some bushes proved confrontation inevitable. She stumbled right before another person engaged in some sort of battle with a wild pokemon. Despite the noise, the battle seemed to last only a short while, as the feral 'mon was sent fleeing moments later. Slightly impressed by the show, Circe decided to humor them with a painfully stagnant clap. "Bravo, bravo."

she recognized the face of the admin easily, but doesn't seem to bother putting up much of a front of pleasantry. "i'm sure you do." the comment is offhanded, but lacks hostility. the absol by her side bristled with immense unease in the presence of the shadowed pokemon, unable to let its guard down. the glower it gives to both trainer and pokemon is near menacing, but remains coolly by the scientist's side.

"it's getting late, no?" circe's comment is rather abrupt, hands clasping together. she finally feigned a delighted look, a smile coming onto her features and sickly warmth coating her expression. to a trained eye though, it was an easy disguise, and a force of habit for the former doctor. "why don't we head to the nearest town together?" her suggestion seems almost imposing despite her pleasant expression, "with all the dangers that go bump in the night," 'some of which may, or may not, be my fault.' a hand articulates to emphasize her point - although, she's already starting to move forward.

his question prompts silence from the woman, who either purposely ignored him or was thinking in a way to respond. "experimenting." she finally breaks the brief silence. "ensuring things work, as they should. it'd be so...disastrous if, lets say, shadow pokemon decide to no longer listen to their trainers." she listed the idea nonchalantly, as though musing over its possibility. "i don't think your gardevoir, for example, would be quite happy with you, would it?" she can't help but chuckle, almost painfully casually.

"so!" her voice has sudden vigor as her hands clasped together, "that's why i've been here. from day to dawn, i've been working oh so tirelessly," she melodramatically sighs, using a hand to enunciate herself.

from the shadows seeps out a wild sableye that mischievously reached out to touch the absol. however, the dark type quickly retaliated with a sucker punch that sent the bejeweled pokemon sprawling. before it could retreat back into the shadows, a pursuit from the white canine dragged it back out, pinned beneath it. mildly interested in the wild pokemon, circe didn't hesitate to take advantage of the situation and toss a pokeball in its direction.
