It was hard to imagine a time when the outskirts of Slateport had been bustling with human life. Sven hadn't grown up in this region, of course. But it was obvious by the dilapidated buildings and ruins that people had, at some point, lived here. Now, however, it was nothing more than a cesspool for dark and malicious pokémon. Which, in his mind, were simply misunderstood.[break][break]

The crunch of debris from his boot crackled and echoed throughout the shady neighborhood. He stopped the assess their surroundings in the pale moonlight. A Croagunk on a rooftop waddled onto the edge before flipping around and smacking its own butt at Lupa. Its TAUNT proved to be rather ineffective against the Absol, however, and she merely narrowed her eyes at the frog before pushing Sven to keep on walking. The Croagunk, in the meantime, was left wondering whether the distance had been too great to welcome her into play.[break][break]

A Poochyena was caught rummaging in the trash bins down the alley. Sven was careful to approach, motioning for Lupa to stay behind him as he did so. The moment the little pup's ear twitched and it raised its head to set sights on the human, however, it became clear that it had no intention on becoming friends. It snarled and yipped.[break][break]

All it took was Sven's Absol to step forward for the pup to run away.[break]

Spearow pecked away at her shell as she struggled to keep balance. The Vullaby had clearly lost its mother some time ago. It was malnourished and beat-up. It had stumbled out from its nest on a nearby telephone pole and landed on the rooftop of an abandoned three-story apartment building. And now the bullying from the Spearow would result in a very dangerous accident: falling from the rooftop's edge.[break][break]

The Spearow seemed to cackle as the Vullaby plummeted, but that was short-lived when Lupa suddenly struck at them with a RAZOR WIND. Sven, in the meantime, leapt to catch the baby bird before she crashed into the pavement. With the Vullaby cradled safely in his arms, he carefully stood back up and proceeded to make his way out of this ghetto and towards the nearest pokémon center.[break][break]

It was safe to say that a new addition had been made to his family.[break]
