Two gas masks dangle from her hip as she makes her way to the side entrance. She's lifted a uniform from one of the various guards and swipes their access card through the slot to grant her access. She hesitates, glancing over her shoulder to her partner. [break][break]

"You gonna be alright?"[break][break]

It was a question with a double edge - they had been at ends for a while now and she was pretty sure she could detect some degree of discomfort from him that did not stem from the mission. This was, after all, a routine check. Ever since they had lost Slateport, various agents would be sent to the area once in a while to ensure the Weezing remained vigilant and, if they didn't, replace them.[break][break]

But this time, under the new operation with Walsh's command, they were being assigned to clear out the warehouses entirely. There were only a few pieces of sensitive material to recover, files that needed to be corrupted or destroyed. The Weezing needed to be relocated, but it was still a generally simple task. [break][break]

She stops to toss one of the masks at Marcel. Emma fits her own to her face, adjusting it until it hisses with her breath. It gives her a positively ghastly appearance and she rolls her shoulders.[break][break]

She doesn't press it, as much as she'd like to. Instead, she exhales a short, irritated huff. But she takes the lead regardless because she's stubborn. If he won't talk, she won't keep at him. Not yet, anyway. There are more pressing matters than arguing with her closest companion.[break][break]

Upon entering, she unhooks her Crobat from her belt. The tiny bat makes short work of scouting ahead and, on the return, is accompanied by the woman's Salazzle. Together, they manage to CONFUSE and DISABLE the Weezing, effectively protecting the pair of squishy humans from harm. [break][break]

And for now, the two of them walk in silence, the tense energy just building.[break][break]

Why is that the way he says it makes her spine chill? It sparks dread and she's disgusted by it. Emma glances over her shoulder at him briefly as he takes care of arguably the most difficult part of the job. All they were here to do was clear out sensitive and incriminating information. The actual Weezing clean-up was irrelevant.[break][break]

The League could deal with that, really. [break][break]

But there's something far more pressing on her mind, and she removes her mask with an exasperated sigh.[break][break]

"Alright, what the fuck is your problem, Marcel? This cold shoulder shit is bullshit."[break][break]

Deep down, she knows it has something to do with her. But communication was never her strong suit - perhaps Gavin had rubbed off on her too much. It genuinely gives her dry-mouth to hear herself outright asking him to put his big boy pants on and talk to her.[break][break]
