As he passes through the blades of grass glistening with the morning dew, Adrian comes across a Hattrem enjoying the starlight, dripping with life dew, perhaps after battling or as a refresher. He passed them up, traveling deeper towards a secret grotto, passing through it for the discretion.

It was almost always teeming with pokemon, so he clutched at a pokeball preemptively. He'd slowed down his breathing as he tiptoed over the threshold, knowing a startled Abra to be enough of a debacle, and that being the least of his worries...

C'mon, focus up! Just gotta get through it...

The cacophony of echoed footsteps through the damp cave sent shivers up his spine; it sounded like someone was approaching him from all sides.

Suddenly he felt protective of the egg in his satchel, holding it against his gut instinctively.

While trudging through the grotto he came across a mound of flesh spewing fumes that he nearly breathed in, halting in his footsteps while the pokemon remained ignorant to his presence.

Or was it? As he tried to maneuver around it, he felt strangely faint, as if he were being lulled unconscious... Crap! Quickly he reached for a pokeball, any pokeball. Something to get between him and the wild Musharna. That was Crobat.

Not my first choice, but... As the bat darted through the cave nimbly it quickly realized the situation, and immediately harried the Musharna with its teeth, biting and gnawing at its susceptible flesh. It had a marked effect, stopping the pokemon in its tracks, causing it to flinch and reel with pain. But he needed more to deter it.

"Sleeper, use Toxic," Adrian said between hacking up his lungs, trying to scramble away from the mist before it put him into a deep sleep.

The marks of the bite went putrid, a haze fizzling off the incision Sleeper's fangs had left in its flesh, infecting the Musharna. If it was going to stand a chance, it needed to conserve its energy...

Allowing Adrian enough time to escape and exit the grotto on the other side of a ridge, where he found a stretch of trees and that familiar patch of tilled earth he'd been growing berries and more with.

A pleasant place to welcome a new friend.

The egg is about to hatch!}

As he neared the garden patch, waving hello to the Vileplume that guarded his botanical sanctuary, Adrian noticed a Baltoy hovering nearby.

Both Vileplume and Crobat were at a distinct disadvantage against this intruder, although it hardly seemed hostile for now, let alone intent on the berries he was growing. But even still, he couldn't afford to lose his crops. "Sleeper," he began to mouth as the pokemon drifted seemingly aimlessly through the nearby trees. "Attack."

Crobat flapped around nimbly, executing evasive maneuvers instead of a headlong rush for the Baltoy, which didn't seem necessary as the pokemon only noticed it was under attack when a rancorous bat pokemon came furiously flapping in its face before a pair of incisors scraped against its skin, piercing through the strange pokemon.

Its body seemed to shudder before it fell to the ground, perhaps fainted. Well, that was anticlimactic... And now he felt responsible for it.

Prepping a pokeball he thought to capture it if only to have it nursed back to health.


As Adrian is rummaging through his knapsack for the lunch he packed when he notices the incubator is rattling, and when he takes it out he notices the LED display has turned colors. Excitedly removing the egg from the incubation chamber, he lays it against the soft earth, huddling around it with Crobat and Vileplume. This was perfect timing...
