the ground under their feet begins to glow again as lightning bolts shoot out from it like missiles out of a silo. kazimir grits his teeth under his helmet as he's surprised by a repeat tactic, its not something he could do with is own move, that barrier really does overheats itself when used a lot of times. guess it was time to go with the old and true method they were familiar with, "kiryu power through it and show them your ROCKING SOUL!" the hero cried out with a fist pump.

the kommo-o charged down at the little urchin pokemon trying to run around the bolts of lightning that tried to spear him from underneath. many grazed his skin but one that pushed him onto one foot set him up to be struck by one that caught him in a blind spot and the dragon's world flashed brightly as he felt a surge run through his body. still he wouldn't be beaten so easily, not when they were doing so well. his pride and faith in his trainer wouldn't let him.

planting his feet firmly on the ground the dragon let the surge of electricity run through his body and the pain fade just enough for him to bring his arms up like he was blocking a frontal punch. instead it wasn't a block, instead the scales on his arms started to shake and the faint melody of a clanging song could be heard. then the kommo-o broke his stance apart with a wide swing of his arms like he was backhanding the air, in reality the sound of his scales shot forward in a shockwave towards the purichin. the sound of its clanging scales echoing throughout the battlefield.[break][break]

there's a moment of confusion when he hears the command, but after seeing the stance his own kommo-o takes when he prepares for his own signature move, he immediately gets it.

"rocking soul? that one's good, i'll give you that," he mentions, amused.

the smile on his expression wasn't shared by the pincurchin in the field. it winces as it anchors itself against the shock wave from the move. kyle wonders how much longer the smaller pokemon can hold on.

"start the advance," he tells his pokemon, "recover."

it bounces one step at a time, glowing white as it starts to heal its wounds. the challenger is put into a timer to knock the pincurchin out before it revitalizes most of its lost health.

it seemed like their rock and roll soul really had an effect on the little sea urchin as it barely hands onto the ground its standing on. "tenacious little bugger, i'll give it that! guess we gotta lay on the pressure a bit more kiryu!" even if they were fighting to win there was no harm in showing good sportsmanship and highlighting how well their opponent was handling what they threw at them. this guy couldn't be elite four if he didn't have the skills to back it up.

still it just meant that pokkenger had to prove that his skills were just a little bit better.

as the puchirin started to glow that's when the masked hero snapped his fingers, "don't give them an inch to a comeback kiryu, let's go with a frontal assault!" the dragon roared out and charged at the sea urchin pokemon with a fist reared back at it. as it stopped in front of its opponent to deliver its blow it bent its knees quickly and jumped over the little electric urchin and opened its fist to reveal a growing aura sphere hiding within it that launched at the urchin's backside if it didn't manage to turn around quick enough.

at least the challenger knows not to get near it. kyle knows when a stalemate was going to happen, and repeating the same move as he did was only going to make it last longer. kyle gives up on the bait and moves on to the battle quick.

"memento."

contrary to the last move, the pincurchin quickly loses its stamina for the battle. a dark energy gets expelled from the electric-type at the same moment as the aura sphere hit. kyle recalls the pokemon shortly after.

a debilitating aura surrounds the kommo-o soon after and would find itself weakened.

kyle takes out his manectric to replace it in the field.

the strange aura enveloped the kommo-o as it finished off their opponent and the dragon could feel his strength suddenly be sapped away. its sudden happening brought him down to a knee as another pokemon was thrown out, a manetric, and the dragon forced himself back onto his own two feet. "don't show them any weakness kiryu! i know you got plenty of fight left in you, so show them your SONG OF THE STRONG!" pokkenger called out which caused his kommo-o's body to rumble and its scales to start clacking.

with a roar a purple aura wrapped around the dragon as it pounded its chest like they were drums as the sound of clanging echoed from its scales. its body swelled up with power but as it broke out of its trance one would notice that it was panting more heavily. its face looked tired and its body seemed like it couldn't keep up a strong stance. it was weak, probably couldn't take another hit or two if they were so lucky. still he was willing to bet it all on this last charge.

a kommo-o doesn't give up and would fight to its last breath. that's the type of pokemon it was and the type that was fitting for a fighter like pokkenger. so with a hand extended to the electric dog it gestured it to give the first proper move and come at it.[break][break]

"you know, i should start taking notes. some of those are actually really good," he compliments

the defense being dropped by earlier moves, alongside his pyukumuku's final gift, gives the manectric enough time as a buffer to deal with the kommo-o before it starts getting its full strength back.

kyle pulls out a phone and starts typing the names that his challenger gave his moves, and beside it, the actual ones that kyle can decipher with what he knows. song of the strong was pretty obvious given a kommo-o's popular boosting moves.

"ice fang. aim for the extremities."

while he busies himself with the documentation, the manectric moves forward. while the kommo-o releases its warcry, the electric-type sprints. speed brings it close to the dragon-type, with fangs coated with ice attempt to sink into the kommo-o's arms, encasing the entire thing with ice.

momentum wouldn't stop, the weight of the oversized canine adding to the force as if ripping a limb off. inertia doesn't stop the movement of the manectric, where it would skid behind the kommo-o after it's attack, turning around for another assault.

kommo-o brought up its arms as the manetric charged at it with its jaws wide open ready to bite down on the dragon. "let's try and take it down with us kiryu!" pokkenger cried out as his fighting dragon charged forward to meet the manetric with its fists drawn. a few punches were thrown in an attempt to deal some equal between the two of them but that just meant that the kommo-o was giving his opponent just what he wanted.

he felt ice cold teeth tear into his skin as the manetric started to tug on them while the kommo-o tried to pound into its face to force it to let go. however its grip was on there tight and didn't seem to be letting go anytime soon, so when it broke away and nearly pulled its arm out of its socket the kommo-o just twirled around until falling onto its back cradling its broken arm as it disappeared into the light of a pokeball. "you did good out there kiryu, they just caught us off guard."

pokkenger glanced out onto the field as he put away his ball to take out another one. electric types all around so far, so it was probably best to bring out a secret weapon to help try and deal with them. "alright, simba let's go!" with a toss of a ball he sent out his zeraora who yowled with excitement as it dropped into the battlefield "they want sparks flying then lets give them sparks! go HAVOC BOLTING!"

the zeraora clapped his hands together and slammed it into the ground as electricity discharged all around it and danced the battlefield like a lgiht show.[break][break]

a zeraora replaces the kommo-o afterwards. he only knows as much as his own zeraora showed him, though given that kyle hasn't really given his clearance for actual fights, he's not entirely sure of the extent of their capabilities as much as the general scope of their moveset.

"havoc bolting?" kyle repeats.

the difficulty in differentiating electric-type moves with each other was much more difficult than any other typing. they're all just sparks with blinding lights at the end of the day. most of the difference comes with the direction of the bolts in relation with the user and the range.

nevertheless, the manectric manages to withstand the electric-type move, thanks to its typing. still, kyle is aware that his manectric wouldn't be able to do much against the opponent

"back you go."

he recalls the canine, whose snarling turns to whining when she was taken off the field. a vikavolt takes her place, who kyle only used because he'd rather have him out now than against the charizard on the bench.

"string shot!"

the vikavolt brings itself up in the air as it levitates away from the zeraora. with its vantage point, it releases a volume of sticky silk that slows down movement of the zeraora.

out with the dog and in with a bug, the battle may have been short lived (until they continued) but the war was still going on. even with a different opponent the zeraora's hackles raised themselves as he watched the bug hover about. it wasn't until a stick string came out of it that the cat started to worry as he batted at the string only to have it wrap around his arms and soon his whole body was nearly mummified!

"simba c'mon! you can break though a little bit of silk can't ya? show them how sharp those claws really are!" with his trainer's encouragement sure enough the lightning cat managed to snap a few strands from just struggling, however it was his arms that were the first to be free as it raked its claws against its confines and flexed its fingers as it found freedom. "attaboy! now let's hit them with a good old VOLLEYBALL SET UP!"

with a growl the zeraora pushed his free arms together into a cupping position as a blue AURA SPHERE managed to build up between its fingers. it's eyes shot up at the vikavolt and with a dip of its lets chucked the blue ball of aura up into the air where its foe resided.

the aura sphere hits the vikavolt, who makes no attempt to dodge it. its insect carapace manages to reduce the effects of the blow effectively as it steadies itself in the air for a counter attack.

"bug buzz."

straightforward and simple, kyle changes up his approach. judging the moveset of his pokemon, this was the best thing he could do unless something else spicy happens.

the vikavolt's wings vibrate. a sharp, disorienting sound fills the room. kyle covers his ears for protection, though at least the move isn't directed to his direction so the most he can get is a headache.

the ringing sound of the bug buzz ravaged both the ears of zeraora and pokkenger as they covered their ears as soon as the sound pounded against their eardrums. the cat glared up at the bug and electricity gathered around its body, drowning out the sound just a little bit as it gathered its power. "let 'em have it simba! PLASMA FISTS!" no name this time as the zeraora slammed his paws into the floor.

for a moment the lightning spread all around them before a bolt of lightning shot out from where his paws made contact and shot forward. raising his paws up the zeraora aimed it towards the vikavolt in order to hit it, becoming a personal bug zapper in this instance. "we're very good at clearing out bugs don't you know?!"

"ooh, you didn't give it a special name that time!" kyle comments.

it's an exclusive move that zeraora can learn that not many people know, though kyle has his own that warrants him knowing this fact. he supposed the name of the move is cool enough that it can be used without replacing its original name, which kyle frankly agrees.

regardless, it's not a good choice.

"this bug is an electric-type, though," kyle points out absently, speaking his mind without much thought of it. "i don't think bug zappers will be effective."

the bolts of electricity, despite being as powerful as it can get, gets shrugged off by the vikavolt. it teeters as it hovers above ground as it gets hit, but it perseveres through the shock.

"bug buzz."

another round of head-splitting noise fills the room. kyle covers his ears again and hopes that his room is soundproof.

sure enough he was right, the vikavolt didn't seem too bothered by the lightning bolts that struck it and seemed to just shrug them off. guess that was one tactic of theirs that would need rethinking. "alright. at least we know that, still doesn't mean we won't try if we gotta!"

the hero's bravado was drowned out by the familiar sound of buzzing that reached their ears once again with his zeraora letting out a yowl as he covered his ears again and glared at the vikavolt with electricity building up around his body again. "hold up! simba, plan on off switch! we're a bad match up here!" pokkenger called out while reaching out to his pokemon who looked back at him and nodded before dropping himself to a quadraped stance and charged forward at the vikavolt. electricity surrounded its body as it jumped up at the bug to take a swipe at it with its paw. whether it hit or not its body would suddenly glow and turn into a lightning bolt that shot itself at pokkengers belt, returning to zeraora's pokeball as another one opened up thanks to its volt switch.

out came tyramigo, his large and in charge tyrantrum that took one look at the vikavolt and let out a mighty roar in an attempt to intimidate its foe to turn tail and run or face its wrath.

the volt switch wasn't so much of a problem as the pokemon that replaced the electric-type with. kyle starts to run possible matchups with what remains of his party but knows that none of them would be able to directly square off with the dino without a bit of softening up first.

two of the pokemon on his opponent's bench were already in some injured state. kyle plans to add a third one before his vikavolt falls to a pokemon with access to moves that will most likely obliterate it.

"i'm sorry vikavolt, but you'll have to take one for the team," kyle apologizes. "bug buzz."

it's repetitive, but kyle doesn't have any other better moves to use in the situation. the bug-type remains in its previous position, all beaten up by various electric-type moves, and releases the same old head-splitting noise.
