While everything took place on what feels like forever ago the Rangers still send him a message. Claiming there was still activity of aggressive poisoned pokemon. Despite the fact that they were in November now, damn it couldn't these things just ago away now? Hopefully it was just natural aggressiveness rather than any actual problems. He was told to report to another ranger there and comb the area as a one last check up to be safe. [break][break]

With Salem, currently colored black and white as the cat worked to hard to dye his fur for Halloween to let it go to waste in one day, on one shoulder and his newly acquired ditto, in the disguise of a Shiny Meowstic on the other Razz felt like he was prepared for mostly anything. Well sort of, one thing he wasn't expecting was to see someone from his past here. At the familiar red hair Razz paused, narrowing his eye in some mistrust. While this was the man that made him question a few things he wasn't sure of his alliance now and the young man's paranoia was getting the best of him as he made sure to keep his distance. [break][break]

Salem seemed to say something to get the younger ranger out of his thoughts as they seemed fine with the other's presence for now, though with the other there another thought just came to mind, "Senon Game?" he still asked the name given to him as the person he was working with. As the name he recalls this man was just the nickname. Besides he may as well confirm if this was the Ranger he was actually meeting. While Razz didn't have any beef with the other, in fact he should be thanking him, but there was still an uneasiness to know people who knew his past were around. Well if the other recognized him now that he kept half his face hidden.

It had been a few years but there were some faces you just didn't forget.

Always having a soft spot for pups, cubs, chicks and all the other younglings, most of the youngsters serving under the big red 'R' were beyond the reach of a couple earnest conversations. A key couple of them however were receptive. It wasn't wise telling Rocket Grunts to expand their minds interests and ambitions beyond Rocket so Sénon had always chosen to broach those subjects lightly and only with those showing signs they might be receptive.

He remembered one such youngling around the time he himself was getting crushed by Kanto's Elite Four and thus began planning to leave the twin regions of Kanto and Johto to find his real calling in life.

It took years to learn the culinary craft as he had and when he returned to his hometown to oppose Rocket he didn't count that once-cub among the Pyroar, Arcanine and Ursaring who stood against him.

He had no idea who "Razz Kingsman" was, aside from being a decorated ranger on the rise not unlike himself. Plus the voice was all wrong but manhood tended to do that; to make bass out of a boy's tenor. Still, he hadn't forgotten that face even if he could only see half of it. "That's 'Crimsen' to you grunt." So much had changed from back then but that first interaction would surely ring bells. "Sorry; joke."

On his shoulder Gan () would make a fuss at the brighter of the two Meowstic. "What's your problem?" Taking the ditto from his shoulder he would palm and stuff it into a ball shape.

Spun out of their pokéball with the intent to take down any challengers.

Jakka and Fennekin would combine their powerful breath to seemingly immolate a Tsareena in spitting distance. Better to take it down before it started kicking things. "Fenn; HEAT WAVE. Flint, DRAGON BREATH!"

The air of the DRAGON BREATH would encircle and intensify the HEAT WAVE emitting from the Fennekin's mouth.

Fennekin used HEAT WAVE; its super effective!
Flint used DRAGON BREATH!

Scorched and caught off guard the chlorophyll'd kicker collapsed causing a 'klack' when Sénon claimed it with a pokéball.

Crimsen attempted to capture Tsareena!

Razz was never much of a jokster, it was discouraged even when his golden boy brother did it it was frowned on. So with the other's joke Razz couldn't help but tense up, eye narrowing in some mistrust at first even when the other confirmed exactly who he was. He doesn't know the other man's story of things that have happened, "Right... joke..." he repeats as his mind was going a mile a minute on what he should be doing.[break][break]

As the other ditto was wiggling around that's when his ditto decided to do the same. Though rather than revert to it's original form it ended up turning into a shiny Oricorio as one was passing by and seemingly not being fond of the humans on her dancing spot. "You're going to fight?" the ranger ask his Ditto who looked at the opponent before looking to Razz seeming to want to but also very unsure of itself. Always able to pick up on needs Salem comes in and jumps in front of Prism to cast LIGHT SCREEN as a REVELATION DANCE that came at them. Caught off guard that it's attack was basically blocked Salem was able to get a critical hit in with PSYCHIC allowing Razz to throw a pokeball. [break][break]

With that distraction out of the way sadly he had to deal with the problem in front of him, "Didn't think I'd see someone from the old days playing Ranger, what happened with you?" he couldn't help but ask. The current problem feeling quite heavy to the point that he barely reacted to the two fire types that had been called out.

There was wisdom to his caution. In the context it was hard to say if he was holding back due to uncertainty or if it was because cautionary was the way he should have been around someone who knew his past.

Fact was, Sénon should have been equally cautious, given what he'd lost to Rocket.

Was "Razz" a new identity for a changed man living a new life, or was it a cover for the same guy doing old tricks in a new place?

"We tend to gravitate to what we're good at." In less than ninety days active he'd blitzed his way to the top of the Ranger's tiers. Only a few stood above him in accomplishment, in acknowledgement. He counted this "Razz" among them. "I found myself with bigger questions than my lifestyle could justify. So I went looking for answers."

His body language wasn't challenging but it wasn't yielding either. A scattering in the tall grass called his attention away from the younger man.

The young ranger thought about it, and considered what the other said though obviously still some what judgy on things. He was trying to figure out if it was something worth trusting, did this person's involvement in his new thinking back then. Razz sighed after a bit as he tried to relax some and not be so damn paranoid about it all, "Fair enough I guess.... Sorry... last encounter I had with someone with the old days was basically a threat so no offense but seeing you sorta kinda... brings it back?" was that even the words he was looking for? Oh well who cares the younger was going to try to relax some.[break][break]

It was Prism's shifting again that let Razz learn what was near by. "You don't have to shift if you don't want to there bud," he informed the ditto to which it seemed to look back at him worriedly as if not doing so was wrong. "That's fine you just do you," he's positive with them not wanting to cause more stress to the ditto as Salem plops onto their head. Having seeming been noticed the cactus pokemon decides to leave. [break][break]

With that dealt with and it seeming like the other made a catch another question does pop into mind. "Do the rangers know?"

His fingertips felt the tingle of a localized source of frost.

Scutter through the brush was a snover. "Son of a bitch." It was his lucky day, he was painfully lacking on Ice-types even more than Electrics. He'd come here on word that the thunderer pokémon were plentiful in this area of the region. Running into a icy one was just a cherry on top.

Slapping the front of his thigh signaled the fox and the charm to assemble before him. He pointed down their target.

"Repeat! No wild flames!" It was extra training that they be ordered to burn their target without burning down the vegetation even if vegetation was just standard grass and trees.

As an ice and grass type a combined fire/dragon attack stripped its power away and rendered it easily defeated.

Fennekin used HEAT WAVE; its (double) super effective!
Flint used DRAGON BREATH!

"Flawless." He said to himself pleased with the results as the pokéball hit the Snover taking it in with red light.

Crimsen attempted to capture Snover!

As the pokéball wobbled he considered Razz' question. "My Active years wearing the big 'R' predates digital media." In essence by the time Rocket was doing their dirt he had enough clout with 'middle management' that he could (and did) pass on any assignments they wanted of him.

"By the time your generation came around I was an inactive relic, you probably remember that you can't remember me being there for any missions or jobs or any of that dirty shit they had you kids up to."

"As far as I know the league doesn't know and they'd have to dig pretty deep to find out." He crossed his arms coming to his end conclusion. "Not that them knowing changes anything for me." He knew who his enemies were regardless of accepted him as an ally.

"What about you Razz?" His tone fell somewhere between playful and indifferent. "Is your involvement with the Rangers the real deal?" There were a thousand reasons a young guy like him would turn away from a life with Rocket but there were an almost equal number reasons someone would just allege they'd cut tied with the terrorist group.

"Is that head covering part of it?" He noticed a movement in the grass again, not sending his duo after it until he knew what it was. Even still he and his lizard and fox watched carefully as he continued to speak to the other Ranger. "Lose an eye? Got a side of your head caved in? Mauled and ripped open?" It didn't matter.

All that mattered was where his heart was now.

As a togedemaru emerged from the bush Sénon wasted no time in acting. "Repeat!" Getting used to working in tandem Flint expelled his dragon winded blast to cover the togedemaru which Fennekin quickly ignited with a heat wave from her maw.

Fennekin used HEAT WAVE; its super effective!
Flint used DRAGON BREATH; its not very effective...

The Roly-Poly Pokémon was blown back by the combined attacks, coming to a stop when it forcibly hit a tree. Impressively enough it wasn't knocked out and looked like it still wanted to fight despite the tremors pulsing through its body. If it could break free of a pokéball, he'd continue to battle it seriously.

The young man just tilted his head in confusion with the whole ‘digital’ talk. He didn't think there was that big a gap between them. Though he doesn’t recall a time where there wasn’t so perhaps there was a bigger age difference than he thought. “Well guess you were lucky for that, both for them not really having you in a proper file, or the league knowing” he comments simply. “Though I’m afraid I don’t really get what you mean by it not changing anything for you if they knew, last I checked even former members aren’t treated too kindly.” [break][break]

With that asked he does watch as suddenly his ditto is wiggling again seeming to want to change as it sensed something else though it seemed conflicted. “Remember you don’t have to if you don’t wanna,” he says gently to them as even Salem encourages them a bit. In the end rather than changing to the oddish nearby it decides to relax and change back to its normal form, finally relaxing some. Baby steps. [break][break]

“It is, I guess partly due to you I get a lot of the stuff my parents had me do…. Well wasn’t the best to say the least, and I thought maybe joining the rangers would feel in a way of making up for crap if that makes sense?” he explains as he is petting his ditto. He falls silent for a bit when asked about what was under the cover. He’s never spoken the truth about it since it happened, but then again this guy was the first to know about it in a long time. [break][break]

“My father didn’t really like my new views on things when I told him I was leaving, we ended up in a fight and well…” he trailers off as he actually lifts the headband to show off the damage, “But he’s the one behind bars now so last laugh or whatever”

It made for a bad feeling in his gut to hear the terrible update on what "Razz" had been up to all these years. Somewhere deep down Sénon felt a pang of guilt for being the one who might have put the thoughts in his head that caused him to choose a different path than those who had groomed him offered to him.

"Sounds like a nightmare." He didn't want to coddle with forced pity or the same platitudes he must have gotten since his defining 'incident'. Instead he spoke from the heart from his own sense of discontent. "I hope it wasn't all struggles and sacrifices and atonement."

What was point of giving everything you had to escape darkness if you were just going to write away and dry up under the sun?

As he spoke a Boltund approached slowly out of nowhere. In this particularly vulnerable moment he knelled down to massage its joule'd jowls the way he always did to @utah 's boltund. It wasn't until that moment that he realized how much he missed his cousin; a telltale sign it was time to pay her a visit. "I am sorry about you being out here in the world, without your family."

Getting a bit rough and playful with the hound he eventually stopped and pointed it away; not having it in him to attack it in the name of acquiring it for the team. No matter how hard he pointed or stomped his foot the electric-type didn't flee instead rising to stand on his hind legs to try to lick at his face. Seemingly Razz and his feline pokémon causing the Boltund to stay away.

Taking a minute from the ditto salem looks to his trainer with some worry as he told the story knowing just how much stress it causes the Ranger. "Its fine Salem... I'm... I don't know," he mumbles as he did his best to void a lot of recent going ons and now talking about this crap. The ranger was probably anything but fine, but hey they were doing a job, he could at least focus on that. Keeping busy that's what kept a lot at bay. The meowstic makes some hand symbols to talk to remind his trainer to take deep breaths, even Prism tries to get in on trying to help his trainer as it slivers up to his head. [break][break]

"It very much was for awhile," he replies back as he moves the headband over his scar again, "And not really much else? But I'm trying to see what else there is now that I'm technically free to outside work," He's made like.... one friend that wasn't a pokemon and he participated in game like stuff, that was something else right? Though it wasn't like there was much of that before a literal war between worlds started which put him back on edge like the war in Kanto and Johto. [break][break]

Again he takes a deep breath as he allows himself to calm down some, ignore the hoppip that was flying over as now both of his pokemon were back to climbing on him. He thought a bit about the whole family though and while sure he did miss his brother, his parents were a different story. And he didn't know anyone in their family outside of that as his parents never introduced them. "That's not much of a loss, I'm still under the theory my parents only had me because they wanted soldiers," he shrugs about the topic avoiding his brother because he didn't need that.[break][break]

"So... besides work what do you do?" The younger ranger can't help but ask because right now his life was work, sleep, eat, and train his pokemon. So maybe asking the other could give him an idea of what else there was.
