Scaling back down Mt. Pyre and heading towards Mauville City for the evening, Adrian finds himself on unfamiliar ground as the area seems to be reshaped. Scars along the landscape from Xurkitree's emergence still mar the environment, changing up the flow of the pokemon nearby...

For every bit as intrigued Adrian is by such developments to Hoenn's wilderness, he is sobered by it. Much had been lost during those dark days. Victory may have been a salve to the sheer scale of casualties, but only to those so far removed from the situation as to have been an inconsequential bystander; Adrian couldn't count himself among their number. His breast yet ached with remorse.

...And an unwieldy readiness to hold others accountable. To find a place to hang his blame...

Adrian tries to rattle himself from his musings as he tries distracting himself with a bit of tracking, noticing another trainer possibly approaching him.

Bryan once again wandered around this area for a bit, shacking up at a nearby hotel since this wandering alcoholic bum was well.. A wandering alcoholic bum. He only recently returned to Hoenn after a year long trip in Kalos where he ran around just having a good time. However like all good things it eventually came to an end when he realized he had pretty much ran out of money. He returned mostly to work for rocket, he needed cash and they had always treated him very well when he had no one else. He wandered about with Audino who loved to walk with him, she seemed really interested in this area for some reason. Maybe it was because she could feel some strange energy here? Maybe there were injured Pokemon nearby she wanted to take care of? He knew Audino was very intuitive little pokemon when it came to how others were feeling. Maybe that's why bryan kept her around? despite not being able to directly talk to one another they both could understand how one another felt by just simple glances. However Audino seemed to take this ability to a much higher level. [break][break]

He followed her lead over to some person who seemed vaguely familiar. Audino immediately ran over to the trainer and put one of the feelers from her ears on him to try and tell how he was feeling since he seemed sad to audino. She immediately frowned and ran over to bryan and tugged him towards him shouting audi at him to which bryan stumbled with a flask nearby. "Alright Alright! im going! Damn! What's gotten into you?" he said groaning a bit. He always put up with Audino since he knew she just cared. she quickly grabbed the flask out of his hand and tried to offer it to adrian. Bryan looked stunned for a second, apparently Audino's way of trying to make adrian happy was to give him the small shiny bottle that made bryan feel better. He stared stunned "S-sorry about that..want a sip?" he said

"Not particularly, no..." Adrian didn't feel he could trust a stranger's good will, no matter how generous or genuine they seemed. Their Audino had introduced itself in its own way, which left Adrian somewhat taken aback. "Have we met?"

His scowl deepened as it lingered on them, but quickly after his expression became alarmed at noticing an Arbok and Pawniward scuttling through the brush nearby. Adrian would brandish a pokeball before unleashing a poorly mannered Mudbray.

"We've got ferals to deal with." Adrian nudged his head towards the wild duo encroaching on them before commanding Mudbray to attack.

"Alright Mudbray, High Horsepower!"

He probably shouldn't laugh at a donkey stomping on a snake, but he absolutely did before snatching away the Arbok in a pokeball of his own.

The handsome stranger denied the drink much to audino's dismay. However Bryan wasn't that insulted by it "Suit yourself, more for me then." he said before taking a small swig of it and placing it back in his flannel. However when Adrian had asked if they met before Bryan squinted at the guy, his face looking vaguely familiar. Did they meet before? Bryan's memory was pretty shit already but this guy did seem to ring a bell to Bryan he just couldn't remember where. But before Bryan seemed able to even get a quick little witty comment in the man's attention shifted to some nearby feral Pokémon. A pawniard and an Arbok seemed pretty upset with them for entering their territory. Bryan was much more relaxed however "Audino stay back you dont need to fight this time." he said as he was obviously going to help out, bryan opened a pokeball and sent out his Honedge since Adrian was seemingly take care of the Arbok. "Honedge use sacred sword." he said as his Honedge quickly went to work and hit the Pokémon. Once the hit made contact he lobbed a Pokéball at Pawniard attempting to catch it [break] [break]

Once the threat was gone Bryan then looked back to Adrian and tried once again to try and remember this guy. "Hmmmm im disappointed in you, is what we did nothing special to you?" he said trying to play around and let that statement hang in the air for just long enough. "We battled at the battle hut once before I believe. you go there often?" he said

Adrian would've decided to leave the Amoonguss be rather than accost it, but some awkward line of questioning made him crave the distraction as he set Sirius loose, focusing on their battle while trying to avoid dodgy looks. " Lilligant guy...?"

Yeah, that must be him. Huh. Small world.

Adrian pursed his lips while keeping an eye on his battle, letting Sirius toy with the creature, though careful to supervise in case of any poisonous spores. "That was like a lifetime ago, man."

Excuse me for thinking I'd never see a stranger again after battling all of one time. Adrian brushed it off soon after, capturing the Amoonguss with a well tossed pokeball soon after. "And I don't."

Most of his days were spent in decadence.

"What about you? Where'd you crawl up and die for the past twelve months...?"

Bryan stayed quiet and heard out adrian at first, he did shrug and admit he was right that it was almost exactly a year ago. "That's fair ill give you that." he said as he gave a small smirk. He noted that Adrian seemed a bit strange compared to the first time he met him. Was that just an act? Was he actually a super quiet and solemn guy? [break][break]

"Left hoenn for a bit, went to Kalos for a year backpacking around and living it up. Money ran out so I came back. You?" he asked curiously wondering about the man's past year in Hoenn. Seemed like it might have taken a huge toll on him seeing as how he seemed pretty distracted or somewhere else. In the mean time bryan decided to let audino also hyper voice one more time to handle the stunky that was approaching him.

Adrian wore a soft, somewhat captivated expression while they elucidated their last year in Kalos and had only come back for money. Now that to him seemed... odd. Why was the money here?

Maybe it's some seasonal employment, Adrian shrugged off his suspicions before Bryan could bother to ask about Adrian's year. A scowl deepened across his features, his fingers itching for a distraction where there was none to be had.

...

"Terrible. Have you heard the news? Hoenn was a shitshow, and I doubt it's over yet."

He gave pause for a moment before adding:

"You really lucked out by leaving..."

Adrian didn't have much else to offer.

Adrian was pretty perceptive, why was there only money in hoenn? Well truth be told he had heard of the recent raid on littleroot and came back to see what was going on. It was only afterwards that he heard the rest of the news. Strange aliens invading, people gaining the powers of deity Pokémon's and new weird Pokémon beast hybrid things? Bryan didn't understand it at all. [break][break]

He looked over at the friend as audino caught notice of a togepi and began to play with it. He looked to adrian "You look like hell..im guessing something happen to you during the war?" he said as he looked slightly worried. Why was he worried though, it's not like Adrian was someone close to him.

Hoenn had actually been something of a train wreck. Even the spring and summer had been plagued with a B&B hack, some shady business near Littleroot, and other such unpleasant business that left Adrian brooding, ignoring the pokemon.

"But you get through it somehow, I guess."

Though it wasn't like him to say some corny shit like 'It makes us stronger for it' or what have you, Adrian had the insight to consider as much. But then, what did it say of those who didn't make it?

And that is why Adrian hated such platitudes.

By the time he'd noticed the Deino, it was too late; he'd already seen bryan delarosa throwing a pokeball at it, so instead he'd lob one at Gulpin.

Skipping Deino because I don't wanna be a Grinch. Imma take that Gulpin though.

"I cant really say much about it then since i wasnt really here for it. Kalos was much nicer than this dump of a region..." he said kind of chastising himself for leaving when things got bad. If he was here then he could have done something about all the chaos that had descended upon his home region. he said as he crouched down noticing a deino "I guess yeah, humans are pretty resilient creatures. we somehow manage to survive any situation thrown at us. We literally live alongside god like entities who didn't smite us for whatever misplaced reason" he did however have a question he wanted to ask "So how come you stayed and didn't run like some people did when things went south?" he asked curiously "Unless your the insane type yourself and i should turn and run right now." he joked as he eyed a deino who he threw a pokeball at instantly.
