He really should've just brought more than two of his pokemon to Hoenn in retrospective, but unfortunately, he was supposed to only 'rediscover' his fire for battle after some time in Hoenn, so arriving decked out and ready for war was out of the question.

This route was known to have flying and fighting type pokemon, which suited his needs well. He didn't particularly need another fighting type on his team, but given his history, he certainly wouldn't have mind one. But no, what he was truly after here... Was a Rookiedee.

Or anything in the Corviknight line, really. It simply was required, both to get around AND fill his knightly quota.

What could he say? Aesthetics were important when you got to his age.
