The Oldale Sunshine Daycare Center was run, perhaps unsurprisingly, by old folk. At first, it was run solely by a husband and wife duo. Eventually, however, they hired four of their friends and close family to help around. But even that wasn't enough.
With the arrival of springtime, baby pokemon were being born at an increasing rate. It had been the same last year, of course. Rather than hire extra help from around town, though, it was cheaper to commission a pair of youthful volunteers from the League.

They'd specifically asked for teenagers to liven up the daycare a bit, preferably with prior babysitting experience. Having babysitted before, and currently in the process of socializing a baby pokemon of his own, Sigmund took up the offer with no hesitation. He entered the daycare center's lobby wearing a black and white baseball tee and torn jeans. Beside him, a baby Riolu clung to his hand.

At the sight of his partner waiting in the lobby for him, the blonde grinned. "Heyo! You're @fay , right?! Looks like we're taking care of these babies together!" He beamed, bending down to pick his Riolu up into his arms and introduce him. "My name's Sigmund, and this is King. Say hiiiii, King."

The baby Riolu stared blankly at the young girl, as if having trouble reading an aura that surrounded her. Ru? But, eventually, it reached out with a paw.

Fay never imagined that she’d find herself in a situation strange as this. It was by complete chance that she was here. Few days prior she attempted to steal a grandpa’s wallet but was caught. To stop him from filing a report, she agreed that she’d help out at the busy daycare.

Fay doesn’t have much experience in watching pokemon, she struggles in caring for her own so when it came to working she proved to be quite poor at it. Winding up causing more harm than good. The first day she helped out, she lost track of one of the pokemon she was supposed to be watching, another day she let two pokemon continue their brawl instead of stopping it.

She didn’t understand why the daycare owners were insistent of having her stay around, but it wasn’t like she could just dip. As she had promised to help out for at least five days. There were only three days left and it didn’t surprise her at all when another volunteer came along.

She arrived earlier compared to Sigmund, but was in the lobby by the time he came. Immediately she was turned off with how enthusiastic he was, the way he acted so friendly also made her uncomfortable. “Right.” She greeted coldly, giving him another glance not saying much else. She let out an annoyed sigh, glancing at the riolu who extended his hand out.

“Hi.” She responded plainly, giving the riolu’s paw a loose uninterested shake. Just behind Fay a Munna floated over, greeting the newcomer with curious eyes. She blinked a few times lifting her short nose to sniff Sigmund seeming rather interested in his presence.
“Candy! Get Back here.” Fay snapped, looking even more annoyed. Though Munna didn’t seem to care, she continued to gaze at the king and sigmund.

The yellow Riolu blinked as the young girl shook its paw. It seemed to garner a better reading of her aura from the gesture. Though it wasn't exactly anything to write home about either... at least not yet. She only seemed slightly off.

Meanwhile, Sigmund's eyes beam with delight after Fay regards her pokemon. "You call your Munna... Candy? That's fucking adorable, Fay, holy shit." He gushes, turning to the sniffing tapir and poking its nose. "You're really more like a rosy-pink marshmallow, aren't you?" He happily coos.

Turning back to the other teen, the blonde sets his Riolu back down on the ground before straightening in posture and stretching his hands into the air. "Alright! Show me to the babies. Have they already been fed? King here hasn't. He could use a snack." He abashedly grins. They'd sorta... woken up late today.

Fay found Sigmund’s gushing obnoxious more than anything. She pulled away her hand from the riolu who seemed rather confused by Fay’s aura. She was glad that the pokemon was still rather young, it’d be annoying to have her aura read. “Ya, ya whatever can you stop talking? We’re supposed to be quiet in here.” She didn’t understand why he liked her name so much, Fay had given it to her purely from a whim.

Candy however, seemed rather ecstatic when Sigmund poked her nose. She lifted her trunk-like nose once more only this time she messed around with his hair a little, giggling happily with how the result ended up.

Fay’s annoyance only grew when Sigmund mentioned that the pokemon needed to be fed, she pointed to the nearby bags of poke food displaying no intention of helping whatsoever. “There”

Faced with irritation and a sour attitude, Sigmund hastily covered his mouth with a hand. "OOP. Are we really, though? Are the babies sleeping nearby or something?" He whispers, examining the surrounding room even further.

Finding that the bags of poke-food were kept in the lobby, however, that whisper immediately melted away. "Wha?! You guys just keep the food here?! In the lobby? That's so strange!" He laughs, enduring the Munna's hair tussle as his Riolu dives towards one of the bags.

With King beginning to scoop pawful's of poke-chow into his mouth, the smiling blonde tilts his head at Fay a little. "Ouuuu... is that why I got called over? You guys needed a big, strong machoman like me to carry these bags somewhere else? Hm-hm?" He winks, wagging his brow as he lifts an arm to flex what little muscle he had.

The Riolu rolls its eyes as it munches on its food.

“No. Just be quiet.” Fay said in a command like tone, she had lied earlier. There wasn’t a need to be quiet, she just said it to have Sigmund shut-up, though the boy seemed like he wouldn’t do that.

Fay didn’t say much, she also didn’t stop Candy when she continued to pull at Sigmund’s hair, beginning to pester the boy. She rolled her eyes at his comment, but he did speak the truth; she was too lazy to move them into the storage room.

There was an irritated sigh as he flexed his ‘muscles’ she shook her head in disapproval before snapping her fingers towards Candy, who stopped pestering Sigmund. Leaving the boy’s golden locks covered in snot. “Psychic” Fay commanded the Munna, which she obeyed. The bags of food shakily hovered in the air, for a few moments it looked stable but then..

Candy’s strength gave out, causing three bags of poke food to spill on the daycares floor; creating an enormous mess. Fay blinked but didn’t say anything, she looked over to Sigmund. A look which reads; clean everything up, and to do it alone.

Sigmund playfully snickered. Fay reminded him of a girl who used to work at his local garden shop back in Goldenrod City. She had been pretty thorny, too, until he'd saved her roses from a Nidoran who loved to eat them.

He couldn't say whether Fay would warm up to him or not, but he was determined to prove himself to her regardless! Even if they couldn't be friends, at least he could prove that he was useful. So, with that bright and undaunted attitude, he... lifts his hand to touch his gooey hair. "Yuuuuuck!" He laughs, moving towards the bathroom nearby.

King the Riolu, in the meantime, stays to observe the Munna as it lifts the aforementioned bags with a PSYCHIC. When Sigmund returns from washing and patting his hair dry with paper towels, he does so just in time to see the Munna spill the pokechow all over the lobby floor. His jaw drops, and he turns to meet Fay's stare with surprised amber eyes.

"See, this is what happens when you don't have enough faith in the muscles." He jokingly chastises, tossing his used paper towels in the nearby trash before taking a deep breath. "Hoo-kay... we got a broom and dustpan somewhere?"

Fay couldn't help but laugh a little upon seeing Sigmund's reaction to his hair. She was proud of Candy, even if she didn't intentionally mean to mess up his hair she viewed it as a win.

She wasn't very happy when Candy created a large mess however, her expression quickly changing into an annoyed scowl. She would return a gaze in Sigmund's direction, though she didn't look surprised only annoyed. She really didn't have any intention in helping clean.

An eye roll was her response to his joke, she then pointed at a nearby closet. "IT's over there" She began to feel a little guilty about the entire thing, and with an unhappy groan she marched towards the closet; grabbing the supplies and returned to Sigmund. Tossing the broom and dustpan at him, "Here!" she unintentionally shouted at him.

He'd seen that! That little laugh Fay had made! Nothing escaped him! In fact, it had him grinning like an idiot for a moment, up until she grabbed the broom and dustpan and thrust it into his arms with a shout.

Well, that had soured quickly, he thought. For once, that bright smile of his was chipped away at a little bit. He casually bends down to give King the broom and dustpan instead before straightening in posture and addressing the other teen.

"You know we're supposed to be, like... partners, right?" He chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck as he tries to add some levity to the situation. "And taking care of babies, no less! Why don't we go see them? They're unattended right now, right?"

King interrupts him by shoving the broom and dustpan against his leg in a huff. Sigmund rolls his eyes and laughs, pulling out a pokeball before summoning a dopey Swirlix. "See this?" He gestures at the mess surrounding them to the sweet-smelling dog.

And the dog proceeds to do just that, eating all the spilled chow.

She was confused to see the bright smile Sigmund had on his face. She didn't know what made him so happy, she wasn't being friendly with him. Fay figured that the guy was just dense or naive, another reason as to why she didn't really like him.
"Whatever" She responded with an irritated sigh. Showcasing little interest in forming a partnership with him.

Another sigh escaped from Fay, "It's this way" She motioned the blonde to follow her with the wave of her hand. Before she lead Sigmund to the room nearby Fay briefly paused and glimpsed at the swirlix he released, watching the pokemon eat like a mad dog was amusing.

"Candy you eat too." She would state to her Munna who gave a meek nod, she floated near the ground though seemed a little uncertain as the swirlix was gobbling everything up in such a rapid manner. Fay would leave Candy to it, and led Sigmund to the room where the baby pokemon had been staying.

Upon opening the door they were treated to a pleasant surprise, they had indeed been fast asleep.
