In pursuit of power, Gavin keeps his promises.

Rocket looked out for their own, and @robbin would have as much support from the organization as they could offer. Young, malleable, Gavin seeks to mold her into a shape to fit his purpose.

The ashen air of Route 115 smells of a home he has abandoned only in title, not yet in spirit. Overhead, an Aerodactyl's fangs drip saliva as it hunts. Below, Gavin uses small strides to keep pace with the shorter youth.

"Show me what you can do, Blue."

Robbin was ecstatic to hear that Gavin wanted to go to route 115. She was sure it had something to do with battles or catching, which Robbin found that she was quite good at. For this trip she brought her mimikyu, a gift or bride, from Gavin. She loved the pokemon dearly and was excited to let them have some action. Along with the mimikyu she brought her main three partners; mawile, empoleon, and honedge.

Mawile was out of his ball, walking beside her and keeping an odd distance from Gavin that made Robbin want to poke fun at him for being scared. Honedge was settled in the leather sheath that Robbin keeps on her back. It created easy access, a protector and set of eyes on her back, and allowed her honedge to be out of the ball.

When she met up with Gavin her jaw dropped at the sight of his companion.

“NO WAY!” She shouted, completely dumbfounded. "They're beautiful," she said in awe, staring up at not only a shiny aerodactyl but one that was also studded with black crystals.

She didn’t have too long to stare at the aerodactyl as Gavin started moving within the route. The flying pokemon above seemed quite hungry for something with droplets of drool glistening the grass below.

“Okay, I will,” Robbin said with her chest. She reached behind and grabbed her honedge’s hilt, which was wrapped in a thick bandage. Unseathing the pokemon she headed towards the grass.

“Come on out, Pixie!” Robbin found that the mimikyu was a female so she slapped it with the nickname Pixie. Throwing the ball up the pokemon emerged and let out a happy cry. “You’re mostly just back up,” She murmured to the honedge as she pushed her way into the grass.

This had to go well or she’d humiliate herself.

Beautiful?

When Gavin shifts his gaze to the dark predator that haunts the skies above, beautiful is not the first word that comes to mind. Sharp crystal growths that jut from its rocky hide inspire dread in place of awe — but, then, @robbin lacked the context of the Blackout.

So he nods, instead. "I suppose he is."

Pixie, hm? He thinks Chu-e Choi would like Robbin.

When Pokémon emerge from their dens to haunt the path, Gavin does not intervene. Though a prehistoric beast hungers above, it will not attack without command. The underboss trains his gaze on Robbin, expectant.

What Robbin did as soon as she saw the two wild pokemon made her feel a little bad. Mimikyu’s empty ball suddenly clonked it on the side of its ‘head’ and it disappeared as if she never brought Pixie out. She then released her empoleon and motioned her mawile towards her.

“There’s no way in hell I am letting a newbie pokemon ruin my chances at a primarina!” There were four pokemon with a mixture of her two ideal typings, and she finally met the one she thought she was most unlikely to find.

“Let’s go,” Robbin ran towards the agron with honedge held low at her right side.

“Night slash!” hoenn, the honedge, turned a dark purple in her hands as she slashed upward. The aggron towered over her, but the slash continued and followed through her motion with a direct hit. She didn't hit for damage, she hit to make the pokemon angry and target her.

There was an angry roar that sent vibrations through her bones, but she held her ground. “Scream all you want” She muttered, waiting for the attack.

The mighty tail of the iron pokemon raised, kicking up dust and dirt with it. It swung at her with a mighty force that would have turned her into a ghost type pokemon. But she didn’t flinch as her empoleon, who lingered close, came in and took the blow.

“Penni has torrent,” she said over her shoulder to Gavin. “He’s like a buffer wall that’ll drown you after a few hits,” There was almost a manic cheerfulness in her voice now that was drowned by rage and another iron tail that almost knocked Penni off of his feet. If he could see her face it would show the same, like she was going to enjoy the battle a little too much.

His lips press together, displeased. How will it learn to battle if you refuse to train it? But he doesn't voice the concern, content to watch for now, and gains perspective with her excitement.

A favourite, then.

He does not expect her team to consist primarily of steel-types, casts approval with an amber gaze. Aggron is no tough opponent to fell, and they charge the hulking beast with energy and enthusiasm.

"I've raised Empoleon," Gavin speaks over Aggron's rumbling. "An excellent choice."

He'd lost them to Necrozma, but a Prinplup awaited training.

"If you need assistance, ask! We look out for our own on the battlefield."

He whistles, signals for his Aerodactyl. It begins to circle overhead, marking the Aggron for its prey in the event that @robbin and her Pokemon should be overwhelmed. With their numbers advantage, he doubts it.

Robbin hears the small droplet of praise and feels a happy shiver in her finger tips. With an outburst offering help she decided maybe she should take it, to show Gavin she could be a team player as well as a solo fighter. However, the battle with the aggron was quite close to over as the health of her empoleon was getting low.

“It's time! Aqua jet Penni, aim for the feet!”

Robbin exclaimed. A harsh jet of water erupted from Penni’s peak, the water flying and blasting the legs of the aggron. The grass turned muddy and slick as the pokemon staggered back by the force of hit. The aggron stopped it’s constant raging roar now.

“Again, this time the chest!”

The assaulting water stopped only for a moment to be redirected at their chest. They tried blocking or deflecting it with the move iron tail but it was in vain. They stumbled to their knees and Robbin turned to Gavin, a satisfied look gleaming in her eyes.

“Would you like to catch the aggron?” Penni stood defensive, waiting for Gavin’s answer.

Gavin nods; in his hand, an empty capsule enlarges.

The Aggron had been dispatched skillfully by the wounded Empoleon, its torrent ensuring the the titan served no hope of enduring their deluge. It's only thanks to its natural sturdiness that Aggron remains conscious at all.

A light, underhanded toss sees the pokeball swallow his prize.

"Torrent is an effective strategy in the wild, but in a real fight it would leave you open to counterattack."

The fight isn't over yet. Whistle.

Aerodactyl circles, choosing Primarina as its next target to hunt. Its presence puts pressure on the performative Pokémon, and it circles its prey with surprising agility.

"We'll keep it distracted."

Robbin wanted to argue and say her empoleon was powerful even without his ability torrent being activated, but kept her lips sealed instead. He was right, torrent wasn’t very useful against trainers who could just knock Penni all the way to fainted.

“Good job Penni! Who's the strongest!!” Robbin cheered, jumping in the air and waving her arms to her empoleon.

Once the aggron was inside of its ball she finally got to pay attention to her prize.

Primarina was a beautiful water/fairy type that she must have. She didn’t intend to use it much, and more so just to have it and play with it.

“Thanks!” Areodacytl was already busy flapping around the seal, the large wings casting a circling shadow around the primarina.

“I got lucky with the type matches,” Robbin muses. Her entire duo steel typing team could smash out this primarina.

“Jaws, go after the primarina while she’s distracted,” Jaws the mawile went into the battlefield while Empoleon retreated. He flopped onto his butt next to Gavin, looking a little beaten.

The primarina was gazing up at the aerodactyl. It’s mouth opened and she used hyper voice at it, trying to get it away, though it sounded quite beautiful with her voice.

“Iron tail, now!” The wild pokemon was taken aback by the hit, eyes darting from the snapping and snarling mawile or the circling crystal covered aerodactyl.

When Primarina lifts its head to assault Aerodactyl with its hyper voice, the prehistoric shadow Pokémon answers with a resounding roar meant to drown out the sound.

As Gavin watches the two tangle, the ground beneath his feet trembles under Empoleon's weight. An amber gaze shifts to the depleted dual-type before a capsule appears in his palm, this one evidently with something inside. It's revealed to be a Lucario, the aura Pokémon blinking as if to adjust to the sudden barrage of light and sound.

Gavin whistles, clicks his tongue.

A heal pulse targets Empoleon, followed by a scattering of life dew that falls like rain.

Sensing the Primarina's weakening state, Aerodactyl prevents it from fleeing by erecting a barrier of stone-edge. It would, hopefully, leave the seal wide-open for @robbin to capture.

Penni the empoleon let out a thankful cry as the lucario used life dew on him, a wash of relief and energy putting a bit of perk back into their eyes. Robbin glanced back to see the exchange but said nothing as she was to focus on the battle, she was thankful though that Penni wouldn’t have to wait until the end to get healed up.

Robbin loved the way the shadow pokemon moved and assisted her. It was practical as it trapped the pretty seal. “Thank you!” She called to them, pulling out of her ball. She was a bit of a distance from the pokemon, but it was forced still enough where she wanted to test her arm.

She reeled up and whipped the ball… and it was falling short. Her mawile was fast as it closed the space between the ball and wild pokemon. He whipped his jaw like it was recovering a volleyball, flipping it back and giving it the needed momentum to finish the throw.

The primarina couldn’t do anything but watch the ball slowly fall and hit it.

“I-I swear it slipped early!” Robbin insisted. Most would assume she was yelling this at Gavin, but no. She was yelling at the smug looking mawile.

“Whatever, everyone did great,” Robbin said, not letting Jaws get under her skin right now. She returned to Gavin while mawile inspected the healed empoleon.

“Thanks for healing Penni, i’m hoping to get something to heal with soon,” It was a major flaw in Robbin’s team composition. She had only brawlers to offer in battles at the moment.

Gavin watches impassively as the Primarina is captured, noting technique and a potential failure offset by @robbin's Mawile. She seems annoyed where she ought to have been grateful, he thinks, but doesn't comment.

It's not until Robbin returns to his side that he speaks.

"Of course." Lucario vanishes in a flash as it's returned. "Especially in our line of work, a good healer is an essential part of any team."

A sharp whistle calls the attention of his Aerodactyl, and the shadow Pokemon begins assault on a Crustle who quickly withdraws into its shell.

Robbin wanted to send Penni out again as he could make an easy sweet, but this time it was Pixie who would be assisting her in this fight. Gigalith was an interesting pokemon, not one she’d die for or anything, but it looked neat. Then the sand started coming.

“Come back out Pixie.” The mimikyu popped out and looked around as it was getting hit by wind and sand.

“Shadow claw!” Pixie did her best to move swiftly, but the wind made her unstable as it flapped her cloth around. She managed to hit the attack, but there was a headbutt that landed right after, sending her back.

“Try to use the gigalith as a barrier for the sand and wind!” Gigalith was large compared to the mimikyu so there were spots where the sand stream was less intense. She did as she was told, looking for spots where she could move more freely.

Pixie used a mix of shadow claw and slash, letting out pent up energy and emotion. Eventually Pixie took one too many gem powers and was left weak and clearly in a losing state.

“Hang in there Pixie, DODGE!!” The sand damage was starting to chip at the mimikyu's already low health and they couldn't afford another hit.

“Can your aerodactyl help keep it in place again?” Robbin asked, she wasn’t sure if the gigalith was low enough for a good catch, but surely Pixie did something with her barrage of attacks.
