she had dedicated roughly several hours to lazying about, the woman pressing closer to her meganium's side once or twice to rest upon her belly.

"mmm." 

cait felt as though this was where she belonged; comfortably nestled within a setting almost entirely composed of greenery - of field and forest. 

'i wish i could stay here,' she thought. 'i wish my family and i didn't have to do anything else but live peacefully.' 

but she could dream, couldn't she? she had every right to imagine a life where there was next to nothing expected of her and her kin; where cait didn't feel that need - that pressure - to contribute and partake in the ongoing conflict between the league and rocket. 


"that's all that's on my mind, lately."

she blinked, the realization having only just wormed its way into her thoughts. 

"Meg?" 

her pokemon murmured softly, her likely hefty eyelids lifting as she acknowledged her mistress. 

"work," cait continued. "it's all just work, lately. i never really think of much else." 

she released a sigh of exasperation, rolling onto her back to peer up at the sky as a whimsicott fluttered high above. 

"i haven't once thought about what i'd do after it's all over. i barely even have any hobbies, nowadays."

"and - oh."

the gourgeist made for an unusual sight - especially since it was still around the midday hours. it hovered pass at a sluggish pace, the smile upon its face one of ease. 

"reminds me of pumpkaboo," cait remarked. "she still hasn't evolved - but that's alright." 

she typically kept the dual-type at her family's home instead of filling the space she had reserved at a local laboratory. her pokemon were allowed to run freely through their acres of property - and were expected only to return whenever beckoned by a whistle. they were all fed well, and were even allowed to hunt smaller prey. 

'i wonder what they're all doing now.' 

it was a small mercy that they all got along well - or, at least, she assumed they did. 

"megani." 

her pokemon pushed herself onto her legs with a grunt, her eyes blinking rapidly in an effort to clear her vision. 

"it's time to get up, hm?" 

cait followed her lead before proceeding to stretch.

cait gently patted her grass-type's side, the large pokemon shifting her focus toward her mistress before yawning. 

"it's time for us to get going, girl."

a hint of drowsiness still plagued the officer's mind, but she remained alert. 

'if i stayed like that for any longer i'd have dozed off for sure.' 

but she'd much rather rest within the secure confines of a hotel room than out in the open. too many stories were circulating that centered around unsuspecting trainers being assaulted by criminals. actually, crime rate in general had begun to dramatically spike as of lately. unfortunate, but it had been accurately predicted by the league and law enforcement as a whole. it granted the region an ample amount of time to prepare. 

"ready to move?" 

the large grass-type took several steps forward, her gaze shifting only to note the movement of a wild pokemon. 

"meg." 

cait shifted her focus to whomever or whatever had attracted the meganium's attention, almost immediately noting the appearance of the slurpuff. 

'a fairy, huh?' 

the officer shrugged after observing the creature for a brief while before indicating that her pokemon should follow with a gesture. 

"let's go, meganium."
