[attr="class","danny"]where a million thoughts might race through serena's, only a few flow through his. it's mostly concern, worry, but never guilt because he knows he has nothing to do with whatever she's going through. the best thing he can do for her, he realizes, is to simply be there for her.

so he does just that.

his arms fall around her, pulling her close to embrace her.

thank you. you don't know how much that means to me, to know that.

"of course."

his voice escapes muffled as he nuzzles closer, doing his best to hold her in an attempt to comfort.

the more she speaks, the more he understands. he nods every now and then but never once interjects; he simply listens.

sorry, i know it's a mood killer.

"don't say sorry."

i'll be fine.

"you don't have to be, sera."

he feels the slight tremble of her body, knows to pull back a little to look at her. her expression is pained, uncharacteristic, but he understands it.

both hands reach up to cup her face, pulling her close to rest his forehead against hers.

"listen, sera. i'm never leaving you, okay? you'll always have me. i'll always stay. always."

And while in theory that was true, in her line of work, with the secrets she held, it just wasn't possible for her to be anything other than fine. It's why this was so hard. Holding in he emotions like this often lead her to bad decisions which meant she was going to end up hurting those closest to her. It was a painful process that always repeated itself.

Danny cupped the sides of her face with his hands before pulling her in close to rest his head against hers. "listen, sera. i'm never leaving you, okay? you'll always have me. i'll always stay. always." Serena searched his eyes for a lie but there was none. She knew deep in her heart that promises like these were so fleeting. They sounded good in the moment but when push comes to shove, did they stand? Rarely.

Still, she wanted so badly for it to be true. This whole thing was just complicated and a mess. It's why she didn't want to be in a relationship in the first place. She was always like this. She loved too hard too fast. Next thing she knew she was losing herself in the other person only to wind up hurt.

She didn't wanna be hurt again. She wasn't sure if she could survive being hurt like she was again. But she believed Danny. Despite every rational thing in her head telling her not to, she believed him. The heart wants what it wants and she was hard pressed to deny it. Because part of her didn't want to.

The warm tears fell down her cheek without permission. It was the first time she cried in front of him she believed. But she couldn't help it as it seemed the dam within her heart had bursted. If she could have her way she would've held the tears in longer but unfortunately she couldn't control them this time.

She reached forward to plant a tender kiss on his lips before embracing him once more and crying in his arms. She needed this. She couldn't be strong all the time. Sometimes she just needed to be held and she was so thankful that he was here with her now. "Thank....you..." she managed to say in between sobs. So much for having it all together.

this is the first time she's cried in front of him. he doesn't know how else to react but to pull her close, holding her in an attempt to stop her from crumbling. she doesn't have to be fine, she doesn't have to be anything with him — he'll still be here for her. always.

he shifts up, moving to sit by her side. with his arms still wrapped around her, he shifts to learn her against his body. his lips press against the side of her head, gentle, caring, and he'll hold her for as long as she needs to.

She does as she's told still managing to keep a lid on the hysterics for a little while longer. Her body trembled in his arms the more she held back. Today wasn't supposed to be about her, not like this. Besides, she hated crying in front of other people but the more she resisted the more her emotions and body fought back.

"i got you." Danny says in the most sweetest and gentle tone. He presses his lips gingerly to the side of her head while he holds her in his arms protectively. Once again it felt like the dam broke in her heart and she began to sob into his chest uncontrollably. The last time she cried liked that was when was still young. But it also felt good to let everything out for once. She was thankful for Danny, she truly was. She cried for a while like that on his arms. She wasn't quite so sure how long but she knew it was for a bit.

Serena returned back to the living room after leaving for a bit to rinse her face. Her face was still red from all the crying, and she was a little embarrassed, but to say she felt way better and lighter was an understatement. "Erm, sorry again." she apologized as she joined him back on the couch.

Rubbing the back of her head she chuckled a little. "It hadn't been my intention to spend time with you that way. I guess I'm dramatic like that." she joked before turning back towards him, "I feel better though, so thank you for that." She paused for a moment while she brought her knees to her chest.

She was supposed to ask him an important question, but she wondered if now was the proper time. Or if there would even be a proper time. "Uh...Danny?" she asked as she glanced up at him. "There was...something I wanted to ask you. But if you don't want to, it's perfectly okay to say no." she quickly clarified before glancing down once more.

[attr="class","danny"]it's easy to lose track of time but it's not like he's keeping track in the first place. he simply sits there next to her, holding her close for as long as she needs. after a while, she leaves to rinse her face, leaving him on his own for a little bit.

danny uses the brief moment to finish off his drink before pouring them new rounds. he closes the pizza box, moves it off to the side to give them some space.

erm, sorry again.

"nothing to be sorry for."

i feel better though, so thank you for that.

"of course. i'll always be here to help."

there was...something i wanted to ask you.

he shifts, turning his body to face her before leaning closer. she seems nervous; different from her usual self. he offers a smile, compassionate.

[attr="class","hearmenand22"]Danny shifts to face her and she finds herself even more flustered than when she began. Pulling her knees closer to her chest she gulped. "i'll try my best to keep an open mind. what is it?" The sooner she got it over with the less nervous she would be feeling. After all, if he was going to say no she at least wanted it done sooner rather than dragging it out.

"The reason I called you here wasn't just because I missed you. Even though, that was a really big part." she said with a smile. "I was wondering...I mean..." she gulped again as she took a deep breath. "I actually haven't been on my own. I've always had someone I was staying with. And I know at some point I need to get used to it. But..." she said as she tried to search for the right words, "This place is big and right now, I'm not sure if I can handle being by myself. So I was wondering if you, uh...wanted to move in with me." she said the last part quickly as the blush spread across her cheeks.

"L-listen. I know what I'm asking for is a lot. So if you don't want to, that's completely fine. Don't feel bad about it at all. It's a big step and I don't want to force you into anything you don't wanna do. I just figured....I'd ask..." she rambled before retreating and covering her face from him. But now that she had finally said it a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.

enough signs had been laid out in front of him for him to have noticed; he should've, but insight has never been his strongest skill. so the question catches him off guard, causing feelings and thoughts to swivel and rise. because of that, he falls silent for moments.

he reaches a hand out for her, brushing against her shoulder. if and when she looks at him, she'll see the same smile he always has for her.

Or maybe in her head it was longer, either way nothing was being said between the two of them and it only made her anxiety go through the roof. She couldn't see his face because she was hiding her own so she had no idea what he was thinking. She could only pray that he would give her a direct answer soon.

"sera." he said as she felt his hand brush against her shoulder. She tensed for a moment before slowly raising her head to look at him. But once she did she relaxed a bit since he offered her the same charming and gentle smile he always had for her. "i'd love nothing more than to move in with you."

"Really?" she asked as she searched his eyes for hesitation anywhere but didn't find any. Crawling towards him she leaned against him, resting her head against his chest once more. "I was scared you might think it was too soon or..." she drifted off as she intertwined his fingers with hers. "I'm really glad you said yes." she said as she stared up at him.

It's true, in the back of her head she was nervous that he might reject her but she was so glad that he said yes. Everything she told him was true. She hadn't actually lived by herself. Not in a way she would count. She did for a brief amount of time before she moved into Rocket HQ back during Kanto rocket days. But that was about it and that was a time she didn't look back fondly on.

"You really are sweet on me." she said as she leaned up to plant a kiss on his lips. It was true, if he had to be compared with the flings and her ex he was by far the sweetest one out of the group. It still baffled her that he would care so much about her when she didn't do anything special. But she appreciated having him around.

he feels her head against his chest, feels her fingers intertwine with his, and he smiles, warm.

i'm really glad you said yes.

danny had never lived on his own either. in galar, he stayed with roommates and for a brief period after graduation, couch hopped from friend to friend. so in a way, this helps both of them, and the idea of living with her excites him.

you really are the sweet on me.

he returns her kiss and moves a hand behind her neck to help support her. the kiss leaves him hungry, desiring more, but he pushes urges to the back of his mind for now.

"you deserve the best."

he squeezes her hand, chuckling.

"looks like we have an apartment to redecorate."

He squeezes her hand as she smiles at him as she moves to straddle him. Maybe it was just because she was so used to getting the short end of the stick. Maybe it was okay to be treated well. She found herself wanting to believe that when she was around him.

"looks like we have an apartment to redecorate." Sera chuckles and nods as she hovers close to him. "But for now..." she says as she gently bites her lip, "I think we should test the place out. See how it feels." she teases as she lingers close to his lips. She was reminded how she hadn't been able to see him for a while and she wanted to make up for lost time.

"What do you say?" She whispers to him as her free hand drifts lower till she pulls at the buckle of his pants, making her intentions known. Her lips gently graze against his but she still hasn't kissed him yet. She waits for his answer as her eyes hungrily stare into his. She couldn't think of a better way to spend the night than in his arms.

They were young, passionate, and had tons of energy to blow through. The beauty about having her own place was that she didn't need to worry about her volume or be discreet.

The problem was that now that she had experienced it she was hard pressed not to explore the depths of her desires. Was she a horny freak? Probably. "fuck." she heard Danny mutter against her before chuckling. Serena's lips stretched into a smirk as she nodded while she attempted to catch her breath.

"Same," she breathed before laughing along with him. No one made her feel good like how Danny did. Both physically, mentally, and emotionally. It's why this whole relationship was dangerous because if Serena wasn't vigilant and paying attention she could easily fall for this man hard. She realized at this point that she couldn't help some things, she'd already grown attached to him, but she could at least manage just how much of her heart she gave him.

Still, easier said than done. Especially when he made it so easy for her to love him. Moving to snuggle closer to him she began to plant soft kisses along his neck and jaw. "Think this is how we're going to spend most of our time here?" she asked, her voice soft and playful. "If so let's make sure to get extremely comfortable furniture." she added with a giggle.

[attr="class","hearmenand22"]Serena appreciates his warmth and presses herself closer to him. "yes, but no complaints here," It brought a smile to her face. Of course, not, she could do this all day but this was nothing new. He chuckled as she continued to leave soft kisses against his skin.

"i'm glad you asked me to move in." He says as he pulls her closer and she wraps her arms around him. "I'm glad you said yes." she said softly. "I honestly hadn't prepared anything if you said no..." she said before flashing him a bashful smile before snuggling her face against his neck.

She didn't say anything for a moment. Mostly because the words on the tip of her tongue instilled great fear in her. She wasn't ready to tell him that four letter word. But it felt natural here, like she should tell him. Her heart quickened as it beat against her chest and she kept her lips sealed. Not yet, no, she promised herself years ago she wouldn't fall in love again before she was ready and she was sure it was with someone that wouldn't cause damage.

Serena swallowed away the lump in her throat as she pushed those feelings aside. She'd deal with them later. Right not she wanted to enjoy this moment without interruptions. "Seriously though Danny," she began softly, her breath tickling his neck, "Thank you for staying with me." she meant this entire time, not just tonight.

As she continued to heal and mend from her last relationship she realized just by being with Danny how good things could be. He managed to bring some color back to something in her life she thought would be black and white forever. As corny as that was, that's how it felt. It was scary but exciting at the same time. She found herself stuck between desire and logic. She wanted to protect herself but she also wanted to lose herself in him completely because well...she believed she did love him.
