If anything, it was her own trust issues that caused her to hesitate. After a moment's pause he speaks again. "i love you." it catches Serena so of guard that she freezes in his arms. Had she heard him correctly?

She took a moment to pause her kisses to look up at him almost to confirm what it was he said. As she stared into his eyes she realized she heard correctly. Could he read minds? It seemed almost too coincidental that they were thinking the same thing. And for him to say it? He was so brave. Much braver than she, because she still felt nervous even after hearing his confession.

But what she felt most was sort of hard to describe. Deep down she felt warm as the her heartstrings were pulled. The feeling she always had around Danny intensified with this newfound confession and solidified the feelings she had of her own. Now there was no running from them but she wasn't quite sure what to do, still nervous that down the road she might hurt him or he might regret being with her.

Propping herself up on her elbow she leaned over Danny, her long hair falling around them like a curtain. "You mean that?" she asked as she brought a hand to gently caress the side of his face. She already knew the answer but she still felt like she had to ask. "I..." she paused, still nervous as she glanced away from him for a moment.

She didn't want to be controlled by her fear forever. If she was truly going to heal it would require her to take risks again, she had to be willing to do that, not just for him but for herself. With newfound courage she glanced back at him, making sure to hold his gaze. "I love you too, Danny." the words were strong as she felt a weight lifted off her shoulders. She was so proud of herself, but she wouldn't allow herself to cry in front of him twice in one night.

Quickly bending down to plant a sweet kiss on his lips she sat up grabbing the wine glasses and the bottle before standing up from the couch. "Let's move to the bedroom." she suggested with a wink, "It's more comfortable there." she said with a giggle as she teased him with a graceful sashay towards the bedrooms, hips swaying with emphasis while her bare feet made soft pats across the floor.
